Isn't the Blu Ray in widescreen? The DVD plays in the middle of my screen.

 

 

I am right now watching Rush In Rio on blu ray, and I must say it's a improvement. Still their worst video if we look at the mixing, but it's better now then earlier, and I don't get a headache now when I watch it.

 

But I am curious, how did they fix the video so much better? I thought they only had low quality cameras on Neil, but now it's HD, how is that possible?

 

I can understand better how they fixed the sound.

 

So those that said it's still not watch-able, how can you say that?

i am confused because i am read some bad reviews about this upgrade, but anyway i can't get my hand on this unless i buy the whole thing, so i will never know... I know that you can upgrade picture quality of old videos with the new technology by cleaning up the picture with more vivid colors and by removing grainy spots. They probably add more pixels... i am not a expert.

 

The original video was compressed to fit on one DVD. Most likely they just returned to the source material and re-rendered/re-authored from there.

There's a whole audio bootleg from the T4E tour of just Alex vocals. IIRC they honed on to his mic with a CB radio or a scanner, whatever that is, or something to that effect. I might be just making that part up.

No there isn't.

I think I read in a FAQ or something that Ged was playing that prink on Alex by not singing his line, therefore not cueing Alex to play his part, but Alex played it anyway. IDK...

Yes. This has been discussed several times in TNMS. The A Show Of Hands video was filmed during a 3-night concert series at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, England. Test footage was shot the first night. The majority of the video comes from the second night, but several shots were used from the third night's performance. In some cases, this was because the shots taken on the second night weren't quite right, but in a few places, like the beginning of 2112, it was Geddy having fun in the editing stage.

 

Yes, Alex does break a string at the end of "Tom Sawyer," but the guitar changes more than once, so it isn't just Alex swapping in a new guitar.

What's this song saying? "We're aging?"

It's one of the more uplifting songs on an other wise dark album, at least for the most part. It's really catching. I love the lines about the breath of electricity and all that jazz. Oh, and Geddy's intonation is great, he sounds not only happy, but... it's puts a really odd euphoric picture in my head... an electric... aura orb thingy.. it's pretty sweet!

 

A Lifeson solo would rule. A Ged solo doesn't sound too interesting to me.

Neil could never do anything like the drumming in "Rock and Roll"

His tones kind of remind me of MFH off of MFH... I think that bass he uses is TOO strong and deep for some of the songs.

They made a mistake not put that on CD. I like Geddy's delervery "The kill each other for the color of your shirt" part.

I know I get a special when I watch the entire start of the DVD through 'Sawyer' with the crowd chanting.

The bass he used on ESL was perfect!
