  1. This is a hypothetical story about a guy named… Myron M. Yeah, we’ll call him Myron M.

Myron found out today that although his organization surpassed their financial targets for 2012, there will still be no raises or bonuses because the corporation as a whole did not meet its financial objectives.

As the head of the leadership team for the organization put it in a wonderful analogy… “Let’s say a child in your family is celebrating something and there will be cake. Everyone in the family gets to have some of the cake. But that can only be if there is cake, and right now there is no cake.”

Myron was simply overtaken by the brilliance of this analogy, and felt that the thousands of people in attendance of this audio webcast would certainly have had their tensions eased from this wonderful explanation after being told they would receive nothing for their hard-earned achievement. But then… another analogy quickly occurred to Myron which seemed to make more sense and would like to present it to his organization like this:

“A senior in high school works their ass off to get straight A’s every marking period to consistently make the high honor role. Their hard work pays off and they receive an A in every subject throughout the year. However they are informed they would not be graduating with high honors because their sibling, who tried very hard to do well but could not get higher than low B’s and high C’s, did not achieve the requirements necessary for receiving high honors. As a result of this, the university considering them for a full scholarship is no longer interested, and they would not be getting a dime.

And THAT, my fellow straight A students, is the PROPER analogy."

    Cake…. unfuckinbelievable. Errrr said Myron.

  2. Ironically, it wound up being a company wide McAfee encryption update that blew up critical windows files. They had to re-image my hard drive. Unreal. The so-called virus protection program wound up being the worst virus I've ever had on a computer. haha
  3. Work issue laptop? Do you have a corporate help desk?

If it is a work computer, I'd contact corporate support and let them guide you before I'd start messing around with system restore.

Thanks! Yes, there is a 24/7 help desk line. I usually try and figure out what I can for myself before I call India though. In my experience with them, I tend to better on my own before dealing with them.

  4. ~Thanks USB!

"Second: Can I create s system recover disk from another computer's Windows 7 Home Premium version and use it to fix Windows 7 Enterprise?"

Yes, but the drivers for your computer's hardware may not be installed, so be prepared to have them on hand (if you don't have them just google each piece of hardware and you'll find downloads you can put onto a USB).

If my computer's hardware seems fine, would that still work without those drives on hand? It only seems to be a windows issue when booting in full mode.

Are you sure you don't have a backup? Every computer I know of that doesn't come with a hard copy of W7 has a hidden partition with the out of the box system backed up onto it.

How/where would I find this partition and how do I use it to restore windows?

  5. Windows 7 Enterprise.. without warning my system just restarted, but windows failed to open. It seems to be a common issue for Windows 7 users. I'm in Safe Mode right now and trying to figure out how to fix this. It's a work issue laptop, so system restore is not activated and I have no software CD to use.

Two questions... First: can I create a system recovery disk from my Windows even though there is an issue with it? I want to use the recovery disk to do a fix, but will I be creating a flawed disk?

Second: Can I create s system recover disk from another computer's Windows 7 Home Premium version and use it to fix Windows 7 Enterprise?

    Thanks!

  6. *Ring*

It's 10:15. Who could be calling this late?

    *Ring*

They're calling from Washington. That's the next town over. Maybe I should answer it.

    *Ring*

Okay, before the phone wakes up the entire house...

    "Hello?"

"John!" (she sounds angry, whoever she is)

    "Who?!?"

"John! It's Debbie. Why are you treating Lori like shit?" (already, I'm trying not to laugh)

    "This isn't John."

    "John!"

"This isn't John. I don't know who John is."

"This IS John!" (she's getting pissed now)

"Okay, before you go crazy on me... just listen for a second. You have the wrong number. I'm not John. I don't know who John is. John sounds like he has a lot coming to him - and you should give it to him good. But I'm not John."

    *silence*

"Oh. Well he should go to jail."

"Well okay then. Go get him!"

    Denise enters...

    "George, who was that?"

"It was Debbie. Um... I don't think she likes John very much. Right about now, his phone is ringing. If I were him, I wouldn't answer it."

  7. Oddly enough, just an hour or so before I saw this thread, I skimmed through my radio show back in 2008 where I played this 78-minute medley in its entirety! Very cool to have a video to go along with it now, and still an awesome medley! :ebert:

I'll never forget when you played the medley on your radio show. It was great, and to this day I so deeply appreciate it. Goobs, I hope you like the video which now accompanies the audio. I tried to synchronize the images with the music and bring visuals to the song transitions. I think it came out rather well. There's a section of Analog Kid where you always come to mind. I think you'll know what I mean when see it.
  8. Simply Awesome, Love the edits. This is truly epic! What software are you using? Love the "Heys" in the overture and Temples. Cygnus X-1 was incredible! The Finale......Wow!

 :ebert: :haz: :rush: :haz: :ebert:

Thanks! Holy *%(# you watched to the end??? COOL! I think there are a lot of fun moments throughout. Glad you liked Cygnus and the Finale. I knew I had to end it 'big', and I hope I got that.

  9. Nope....will listen to them about the same as I ever have. However, I find it quite ironic that a significant amount of people have historically painted the "Hall" n a negative light (for not recognizing true talent as per some of the artists that have made it in), but now rejoice that Rush has been finally recognized by such a shady institution.

I don't think anyone now thinks the RRHOF is the arbiter of quality music just because of the inclusion of Rush. Most of us are just happy they're finally getting the recognition they deserve from what is perceived by many to be such an authority, even though we think otherwise.

Absolutely. I am one who complains that RRHOF is flawed, but I'm still happy to see my guys get their due.

Same here. I have voiced the opinion for a long time that the RRHOF is flawed and their purposeful 'exclusions' from the hall is what erased their own credibility with me. But if Rush is happy for the induction, then I'm happy for them. I'm also happy that their name will be given more acceptance to those who look to the RRHOF as a shrine for greatness in music. It might mean the world to them to see Rush's kimonos hanging next to something from Blondie or The Beastie Boys. But does it mean anything to me personally? No. Not really.
