  1. Gosh, I hope Geddy wasn't just going through the motions on Time Machine Cleveland gig when he said "Greatest audience ever!" Kinda proud of that accomplishment... ;)

He was talking to the cameras.. all of us! ;) ;)

Actually, there might be some truth to the Cleveland comment - I think it was Gene Simmons who said that Cleveland and Detroit had the most best, most dedicated fans

KISS came from the NYC area, but they didn't write "Manhattan Rock City" :D

And Ian Hunter says of his song titled Cleveland Rocks:

" . . . the inspiration for 'Cleveland Rocks' goes back to the old days when people used to make fun of Cleveland. Cleveland was 'uncool' and LA and NYC were 'cool'. I didn't see it that way. Lotta heart in Cleveland .

I'm sure that in the early days, RUSH had some good experiences in places like Cleveland and Detroit - as did KISS - esp when the "cool" cities were shunning them

Truth... David Bowie kicked off his Ziggy Stardust tour in Cleveland OH... Said Cleveland & Detroit one of the few American cities that "get and understood his music.."

  2. I seen this is a old topic and already posted 2010.. Strangely forgot to add Pittsburgh Penguins & Steelers, Mostly because of there annoyingly obnoxious fans...The over adulation and saturation of Steelers here for Hall Of Fame activities was sickening.... :moon:
  3. Years ago, I seen John Mellencamp "Lonesome Jubilee " tour at Cleveland. Half way through the song Check It Out, John stopped singing halted the band. Lead guitarist came over and talked to him.. Told audience he wrote to many damn words and forgot the rest of it, then started over.. Thought that was a hilarious spontaneous moment. Nah, read newspaper review next day, he did the same shtick at Toledo night before. KISS doing the same banter on stage "great crowd" every night is nothing shocking. Gosh, I hope Geddy wasn't just going through the motions on Time Machine Cleveland gig when he said "Greatest audience ever!" Kinda proud of that accomplishment... ;)
  4. I hope LeBron and company after some rest can win game four. Cleavland winning the series is just more interesting.

Since when is anything about Cleveland Interesting? Oh, and they shouldn't have gotten the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame there either.

Your stuck in a 1970's time warp of Cleveland stereotypes and sure you've never been here. And oh, Cleveland is completely deserving of the Rock Hall Of Fame do some research...
  5. The outcome was inevitable , but damn proud of the tough as nails fighting to the end Cavaliers! Undermanned as they were and STILL managed to take two from the skilled finessed Warriors... Props to Golden State there the complete package of a true championship team. ... But have to play the "what if" game like any seasoned worn out Cleveland sports fan veteran does after every failed title run... Kevin Love & Kyrie in the lineup?? Different outcome i firmly believe in favor of the wine & gold..
  6. After getting out to an early lead, only to have it cut down to 3 points by the Clippers, Houston is getting it done. Looks like the Clippers are gonna be gone.

I've posted before that it's a shame the San Antonio didn't get through the first round. They'd be a great match=up against Golden state.

Clippers were leading series 3-1 and blow it. I hope Houston is tired now... Go Warriors.

Any predictions Atlanta vs Cleveland? I'd like to see the Hawks win, even though every time they play at home, the arena organist absolutely drives me crazy

    GO CAVS FINISH THE HAWKS!!!!

  7. If the Wisconsin Badgers win Monday night, they will have completed the toughest run for a No. 1 seed since the tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1985. They have faced the highest possible seed in all six rounds: No. 16 Coastal Carolina, No. 8 Oregon, No. 4 North Carolina, No. 2 Arizona, overall No. 1 Kentucky, and now No. 1 Duke.

    It's never been done before. :o :o :o

It would be great if it happens, B1G Ten represents ... Football & Basketball GO BADGERS!!!

  8. Just wanna say...... so ready for the season.

Me too, since Sports Illustrated picked the Tribe to win the World Series... :eyeroll:

I could be okay with that. But, yeah, sometimes SI just tries to be a hipster like that.

Remember in the mid to late 80s when SI picked the Indians to win the AL and they lost 100 games?

Yes, 1984 or 85? Had Joe Carter & Corey Snyder on the cover 'Indian Uprising" they lost 101 games that season...

Love the box in the cover's upper left though.

Wait? So that is *NOT* Roger Dorn and Pedro Cerrano? I mean, because, you know, that Indians team from the 1980s was pretty good?

They were close but they could never overcome the curse of firing Ken Aspromonte. I'm not aware of any curse to be honest, I just wanted a chance to type Aspromonte.

Lol, I don't remember the Indians ever being close at being "good" in the 80's..or 70's. Perhaps thinking about the movie Major League :) But yes there was or still is? A fabled curse to explain the Indians decades of non championship success.(But what about our other teams sport failures?) It is called the curse of Rocky Colavito, involving a trade of Cleveland fan favorite Colavito 1959 Home run champion and Tigers Harvey Kuenn hitting champ spring of 1960.The architect of the trade was then Indians GM Dick "trader" Lane who completely dismantled a winning Indians team trading everyone whom he inherited in a short time span of two years. The Colavito, Kuenn trade was a disaster for Cleveland and the downward spiral of miserable baseball began as fans stayed away and losing seasons lasted well into the early 1990's. Cleveland sports writer Terry Pluto wrote a entertaining book on it called "The Curse Of Rocky Colavito" A loving look at a thirty year slump 1960-1993

I really don't know were any of this hype has any merit whatsoever but it dose seem to be the trend by the media this year. Cleveland is competitive that's for certain in the AL Central. All the way up to the last week 2014 season they were in playoff contention. But they didn't improve at all in the off season offensively where they desperately need improvement besides Michael Brantley who was one of the bright spots in the lineup. Pitching Tribe looks quite good that's the strong point but defensive errors were a nightmare last season...
