  • Best Rush Experience
It's either when I first got into Rush, or the day I bought 2112. I realize they aren't really "great experiences", but to me anytime I listen to a new Rush song, its a great experience. To me they are one of the best bands if not the best band. Their lyrics, their instrumental, best trio ever!

  1. I think it's a terrific album. But I agree with a lot of other people...it's not in my top 5 fave albums...none of their songs are on my top favorite list. But still, its a great piece of work full of emotional and touching songs. Mission and Time Stand Still are my favorites from the album. They were the ones that hit me immediately. Second Nature, Prime Mover, Lock and Key, and Force Ten are also really honorable mentions. It is a very underrated album by Rush. Does it compare to Moving Pictures or Permanent Waves...?? NO. But it's still a great listen. Lyric-wise...the band has never lost it.
  2. Roll the Bones....is that rated highly? I think it is...not really a fan of that song.
  3. This album is really growing on me. As a whole the album is amazing. Competely different than any other Rush album. The whole spiritual feel to the album is magnificant. I really appreciate Neil Peart for going all out in lyrics even if it may turn out to be the most controversial Rush album. I think when muscians take risks like that it just shows how they will stand the test of time. And this risk worked well even if you don't believe in NP's beliefs. Right now "Larger Bowl" is my favorite. But "Armor and Sword" is the best on the album and probably my favorite all together. "Spindrift", "The way the wind blows", and "Main Monkey Business" are also honorable mentions in the album. I would really enjoy hearing these songs in concert. I honestly hope they don't do more than 4 or 5 songs from S&A.
  4. Yep. Me too. I'm 17 and a female.
  5. I GOT A 20!!! just kidding... I got a 14/20 and I'm surprised I got that high of a score
  6. 10 Nightwish 2 Tarot 24 Yes (+1) 23 ELP 22 Blue Oyster Cult 19 Iron Maiden (-1)
  7. I think this is a really great album! I went with Available Light but I love almost all the songs. The pass is amazing so is Chain Lightning and I love Presto.
  8. YYZ is AMAZING so is the beginning of 2112...but neither one can compare to La Villa in my opinion. Its a 10 min song of pure instruments and they make it work so perfectly! The song actually inspires you, damn its good!
  9. 2112 for me, I think the album is killer! A Farewell to Kings and Hemispheres would both come into a close second for me.
  10. This is probably my second or third favorite Rush albums because every song in this cd rocks!!! I picked Xanadu becuase for the past week its been my favorite on the album. It could have just as easily been Cinderella Man, A farewell to Kings, or Closer to the heart. To me those are 4 classic songs that will always live on. I picked Xanadu because its one of my favorite all time Rush songs becuase of the excellent flow of instrumentals and lyrics. I think it's amazing how they got this from a poem called Kubla Khan which is about a magical place. The vocals by Geddy are supurb as usual! But the instrumentals, damn, has to be one of my favorites in any Rush song. It flows so nicely, the change-ups are phenomenal. Just all put together its a great song. A Farewell to Kings used to be my favorite just because of the lyrics and the flow of the song. However, I also like Cinderella Man and Closer to the Heart mostly becuase of the theme.
  11. This was really really hard for me to pick. Its my favorite Rush cd if not my favorite cd of all time. Im not sure on that yet. But I went with 2112 purely because I love the overall epic story of that song. I love how Geddy, Alex, and Neil can make a 20 minute song a masterpiece. As of now 2112 is my favorite, I just love how it starts and how it ends. Even if the ending isn't very clear I like to go for the optimistic/hopeful ending. I think the cd just rocks in general...you have four amazing songs on the album (in my opinion) that just will never get old (2112, Something For Nothing, Tears, Passage to Bangkok) and then two great songs (Lessons and Twilight Zone). Something for Nothing and Tears just really speak to me. Tears because its one of the few love songs Rush recorded, but its amazing. It's not very long, but the song is beautiful! Something for Nothing because I love the theme of the song, the lyrics are so good! It's so true, you have to work for what you get. You can't expect to get something if you don't do anything. Besides one of my favorite all time quotes is in the song... "In your head is the answer Let it Guide you along Let your heart be the anchor And the beat of your song" I just love it! The metaphor of heart and anchor. Because anchor is like a stability point...like your heart. Its just awesome. Despite all that, lol, I still chose 2112 because for nearly 22 minutes you get an amazing song, with amazing vocals, with an amazing story behind it!
  12. I went with Spirit of the Radio. I love the overall theme of that song. The lyrics are amazing! Freewill would be my close second though.
