QUOTE (JohnnyBlaze @ May 14 2006, 06:51 PM) QUOTE (Prime Mover and Shaker @ May 15 2006, 10:21 AM) QUOTE (JohnnyBlaze @ May 14 2006, 06:08 PM) QUOTE (Prime Mover and Shaker @ May 15 2006, 09:39 AM) Are any of you extremely familiar with the characters, especially the new ones seen in this trailer?
I'm wondering if there is a good place to get a quick primer on these particular mutants somewhere on the net...I'm not sure about "extremely" familiar, but I'll help if I can. What would you like to know?
Well, it appears there are some characters not yet seen in the movies. I was just wondering about their powers & any interesting back stories:
Angel
Callisto
Beast
Collosus
Juggernaut
Shadowcat
others???
...and I don't have a good grip on the whole Jean Grey/Phoenix thing.
Any info would be very cool!
You should be able to find info on any of the characters' powers at marvel.com.
'Any interesting back stories'....
-Angel & Beast were members of the original team in the comics (which also included Cyclops, Jean Grey, & Iceman).
-There was some rivalry for the affection of Jean betweeen Angel & Cyclops in the beginning.
-Angel hid his wings from the public by strapping them in tightly
-Beast wasn't so beastly in the beginning (although he did have oversized feet & was a bit hairy). His furry self also wasn't always blue..it looked blackish grey for some time in the 70's.
-Colossus was one of the 'new' members (which also included Storm & Wolverine among others) that replaced the original 5. He's also Russian (I guess they'll probably drop this info from the movie)
-Shadowcat was the youngest X-man (13?) at the time she came around. She joined right around the time the Grey/Phoenix thing was happening. In a sense, she replaced Grey. She appeared in X1 & X2 by running through doors & walls.
-Callisto...don't know much about this 1. I quit collecting comics by then.
-Grey/Phoenix thang...I wouldn't want to spoil the movie too much for you. Seriously, you should wait & see the flick on this point.
Cool. Thanks!

Anyone (think) they know the true origin of "420"?

This was always a great show - I haven't seen any of the new stuff. Glad to hear it sounds like they're doing it justice!

We have the DVD as well. My wife can sing all of "Interplanet Janet" - and does.

I think it looks pretty cool!

My favorite comic ever. Plus, there's a lot of artistic integrity - you haven't seen any C&H official licensed anything in stores, ever, as far as I know. Well, except for the comics themselves.
-
I think it is OK. It's novel, in a cute sort of way.
-
We recently rented a DVD with an ad for this movie... it looked rather odd.
-
This will be the first of the series that I will see in the theaters. The first two weren't bad.

Well, there sure isn't a whole lot of consensus here!

Disability? WHAT disability?!?!? This guy rocks.

I like that it's a public poll... the rag mag polls are always way off.
-
I've been interested in the Chapman stick for years... I keep hoping they'll become a bit more popular so I can actually see one being used in a live setting!
-
One DR550MKII.
What, that doesn't count?
-
3 Ibanez (1 6-string, 1 5-string, and 1 4-string that was hand-made into a fretless before I bought it)
1 Takamine acoustic bass
1 Washburn 4-string
I have an Ampeg amp & head, and a Peavey combo... and some other little amp (can't think of the manf)
I've stopeed using amps and am now using the Line 6 Bass POD. Very very cool, IMHO. It's like having a couple dozen amps at your disposal, and it's about the size of a book.

I've re-ranked them several times, but HYF always ends up on top.
-
Hanks - for once, I'm with the majority!
-
I said Cage, but it was tough. I think in another 20 years we'll see him do even more great things.
-
I picked Ford. He's done some great stuff... I do wish he would expand just a bit more.
