I wish. Although honestly, even if I met him, the experience probably would've made him feel uncomfortable in some way and I wouldn't want him to remember me like that. He just doesn't like interacting with fans. Still holding out hope of meeting Geddy and Alex though.

 

What's this poll for anyway, to make us envious of the vast minority here who were able to say "yes"? 

I wonder if Geddy or Alex ever read some of the stuff in these threads and see us gushing

I can say I don't find him "hot", but he's the only one I ever met in person and he is truly a very nice person. Okay, maybe in jeans, in the right light, at the right angle...wait, no, not hot...nice? Fit? Darn it!!

I think it matters, you are brave for sharing and I hope you are feeling better.

But (and don't slap me!) this is kind of Neil's corner of the forums?

 

Main reason I posted it here is cause Neil is one of the things I was feeling sad about. But if I post things in the wrong place feel free to correct me and I'll put it in the right place in the future.

 

I sometimes watch amateur-recorded clips on YouTube from the CA show I was at, just to bring some of the memories back and fill in the blanks. 'Cause now all we have is memories.

Mine was Snakes and Arrows in 2008. I was only 10, only knew their popular stuff and had a hard time staying awake. I don't remember a whole lot from it. So I barely count it as a concert I attended, but I was there. For the CA show I was fully present both physically and mentally. Opening night too, I was the first to hear all the CA material live!

Don't forget, so many fans feel the same way about their favourite band.

The Beatles? Rolling Stones? Metallica, Food Fighters? U2?

We are not alone, we just really love the guys!

 

I guess you're right. Rush just seems to have a very loyal and devote fan base.

Honestly, I don't know any other band that affects people this deeply. The fan base Rush has is so unique and they should be very proud of it. 200, 300 years from now I feel like people will still talk about Rush.

I also looked at the Forums for a while before joining. What was the thing or the trigger that made you want to join?

I like the participation of members discussing life and the band members and the times in life the band was "there for them" type stuff.

Yes the music and songs are worth dissecting in every which way, but it was the more personal stuff that hooked me.

 

I was significantly affected by Neil's death, that's one thing that made me want to join. I still feel sad about it at times. Their music has literally saved my life (i.e. The Pass.)

Neil never had to deal with the world the way it is now. That's the one silver lining in all this. Because the more intelligent you are (as Neil was fiercely intelligent), the harder it is to deal with the world's stupidity.

I agree, Neil would have not suffered the collective idiocy we are living with very well. Been re-reading Roadshow with Drums and he lets the population of a certain state have it, I had forgotten that part. Glad that he didn't have to watch the world fall apart so fast.

Which state was it if you don't mind?

I'm reading Ghost Rider for the first time and boy he doesn't hold back in his distaste for Vegas.

He's careful to give a nod of approval to a lot of folks, but lets a lot of the others have it with both barrels. First hand stories of their touring from the old days all the way up to Alex getting the crap beat out of him.

 

Alex got the crap beat out of him?? I'd like to have a word with whoever did that.
