  1. I read this whole thread, and have to disagree with those wanting more dialogue... I found that the lack of it increases the sense of urgency and despair. And it serves the story of one of the characters too. Tom Hardy does a better job with ONE EYEBROW on screen than a lot of actors will do with a lot more to show.

That's how I picture reality in the heat of battle. There is no time for chit chat, no time to set up touching stories about their girlfriends back home or what they're going to do after the war it's just "how the hell do we survive this mess." One of my favorite war movies besides Dunkirk is "A Bridge to Far" and one of the most compelling scenes was James Caan trying to get his severely wounded captain through enemy lines and ultimately sticking a gun to the surgeons head to look at the captain. Very little dialogue, no set up story except James Caan briefly assuring the captain he will survive.

  2. Saw it today in 70mm. I for one enjoyed the lack of dialogue. Nolans direction just threw me into the fray and made me feel a part of it. The 70 mm brought me back to that feeling of epic movies of the past. It's rare when characters can show such emotion without saying a word. Mark Rylance is so believable and compelling without saying much at all. Tom Hardy along with perfect direction makes you feel like your flying with him.

    Easily an instant classic.

  3. Well the TDF pretty much ended today with Sky neutralizing all the attacks and now Froome goes into Saturdays TT with a 23 second lead. He will crush Bardet in fact Landa may be able to overtake Bardet's podium position with a great TT
  4. How about the stage winner Uran, Limited to the hardest rear gear the last 7 km. I can't imagine how he managed to turn that crankset it must have tortured his knees.

Uran’s win was all the more impressive since his bike was all [messed] up. According to race mechanics, Uran’s derailleur got damaged in the Martin-Porte crash and he was unable to shift gears. Cannondale mechanics decided to manually move Uran’s chainring into the 11-tooth sprocket (the big ring) and let him ride forward at 53 x 11. Winning the sprint he did was impressive; winning it on one gear was even better.

His Manager Jonathan Vaughters said Uran has always been too technical and would always overthink a finish which is why he hasn't won a big stage like this before. Vaughters said his mechanical forced him to just flat out race with what gear he had, no thinking, no playing with gears, nothing but pure hammering to the end.
  5. They did a good job analyzing it last night. It's clear that cavendish initiated contact with a shoulder into Sagan which caused cav to start falling into barricade. Sagans elbow flared up and never made contact with cav. It's a travesty.

Also the UCI jury president Philippe Mariën who announced the decision is French. His damn Frenchy rider Damare blatantly cut off Kristoff in the final sprint today, a move that was fare more dangerous than Sagan's and they did nothing.
  6. Is it just French officials making the decision?

Actually the current President of the UCI is a frikin Brit. That's even more political than if he was french considering he was obviously pissed Cavendish's tour was over.
  7. Anyone see the I indent in today's Tdf race? It will be interesting to see if anyone is DQ'd.

Sagan DQ'd - Total BS!!!!! There is a picture clear as day showing Cavendish, before the crash, head butting Sagan throwing him off balance causing his elbow come out. Like many fans have stated I refuse to watch any sprint stages the rest of the tour.

They keep talking about the elbow but it doesn't come up until cav was already falling. Cav doesn't have the most pristine reputation in the sprints. He clearly tried to wedge himself in there and paid the price taking two other riders down as well.

Yep, even some of the other great sprinters apologized to Sagan after having a real good look at the footage. He got screwed. Clearly the Frikin French officials want to clear the way for Demare the frenchy to win the green jersey. Total BS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bad play Keith. :sigh: Hawks 2 Predators 1

    We're tied. :banghead: Hawks 2 Predators 2

    Hawks lose in OT.

That's probably too big a mountain to climb.

f***ing Pens are going to win it all again. I don't think I can watch anymore.

Exactly the way I feel. I didn't even watch the finals last year
  10. He cemented his legacy as the best ever in my view last night. I'm not a Patriots fan at all really but I know success and excellence when I see it. Kudos to Mr Kraft and his team...

I never saw Unitas play. I watched Joe Montana carve up defenses. I watched Peyton Manning make teams shit their pants during the regular season.

Brady just wins championships. Belichik has much to do with it...but Brady is pulling the trigger. Bottom line: it's very difficult to compare greats. Brady has the numbers to lay claim to the title though.

    PS: Where's Bradshaw? Aikman?

Aikman's busy stating Tom Brady is the Goat!!!!
  11. Empire of the Sun - Watch it ever two years to make sure I still possess the ability to shed tears -

It's only the last scene when he is in his mother's arms and that angelic voice starts singing and he closes his tired eyes, gets me every time.
