My hubby picked this up at Wal-Mart for about six bucks...and I like the track selection MUCH better than the "Best of Kansas" CD that first got me really into them...

    http://deepdiscount-content.vcommerce.com/products/fullsize/814/43444814.jpg

    Track listing:
    1.      Can I Tell You
    2.      Song For America
    3.      Icarus (Born on Wings of Steel)
    4.      The Pinnacle
    5.      Carry on Wayward Son
    6.      What's on My Mind
    7.      Miracles Out of Nowhere
    8.      Point of No Return
    9.      Portrait (He Knew)
    10.    Dust in the Wind
    11.    People of the South Wind
    12.    Hold On

The track listing on the "Best of Kansas" cd has some stuff I can definitely live without ("Fight Fire With Fire" and "Play The Game Tonight" anyone?) and this CD has some songs that I really love, like "Miracles Out Of Nowhere," "Portrait," "Icarus," and "People Of The South Wind."

GhostGirl, do you have Always Never the Same? If you like symphonic or classical music at all you should check it out. cool.gif

Anybody (in the U.S.) picking up the newly remastered/remixed/expanded Two For The Show tomorrow?  new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

I will if it's in stock at my local head shop/ CD store. I plan to trade in my old copy of TftS and the Best of Kansas disc (that I only had for "Closet Chronicles") to get it.

It'll be my birthday present to myself. biggrin.gif

I too got the remastered Best of Kansas for the same reason. wink.gif

Amazon.com has :30 second clips of all the songs, and the new tracks sound killer. Check out the clip for "Child of Innocence"...that clip must be a from an extended intro or something, because that riff is not part of the original studio version. It sounds metal! 1022.gif tongue.gif

That makes me want to buy it even more! 1022.gif

Same here!  I heard  Ozzy first, then Black Sabbath later.  This was in the early '80's, so I actually thought Black Sabbath was a Dio band.  It wasn't until someone brought me a copy of Paranoid that I believed Ozzy was in Sabbath!

That reminds me of a funny story..

I had Speak of the Devil before I had Master of Reality... We're spending the weekend at my cousin's in Las Vegas. He is into metal too, and I look to see what he's got.. I pop in Master of Reality in the boom box as I'm going to bed after smoking a joint. I flick off the light and hit 'play'. It's pitch black and then the coughing intro started and scared the beejeebus out of me. drool1.gif

Well, I remember borrowing a copy of Paranoid and listening for the first time... the ending to War Pigs sped up to a thousand miles and hour and I spun around to swat my tape deck. I thought at first it ate another tape! (DAMN IT! NOT AGAIN!)

My copy of Sabotage I played until it fried. laugh.gif 1022.gif

Just to add another one to the list of funny stories.....

When I was growing up I was taught that Ozzy Ozbourne was a Satan-worshipper and should therefore be carefully avoided. Eventually I grew out of all that silly bulls**t and decided to see what Black Sabbath really sounded like. So I borrowed a copy of "We Sold Our Souls for Rock'n'Roll" from a friend.

I'll never forget the first time I listened to that album. It just so happened that it was raining outside at the time, and when I put on my headphones and heard the intro to "Black Sabbath" I honestly thought I was losing my mind for a minute. laugh.gif Scared the sh*t out of me, but I've loved the band ever since. biggrin.gif

There are samples of the tracks on Amazon if anyone is curious.

Complete album is streaming on MTV if you wanna listen..

How do I get the songs to play? I keep clicking on them and all I see are more ads...... comp26.gif

There is a link in blue text that says 'Play all tracks'. Click on that and a Windows Media Player window will pop up. You can click the different track names to skip around if you don't wanna listen from start to finish.

I clicked on that link that said "Play all tracks" and an "MTV.com Media Player" popped up. I clicked on "Play all tracks" in that window and the only thing that happens is that the ad in the big box on the right changes. confused13.gif

Apparently MTV.com does not like Apple eyesre4.gif ..... I brought the webpage up in Windows and the album played just fine.

Now I've got it recorded onto MD for listening to later -- I'm happy! biggrin.gif

don't mean to beat a dead horse but I got one more clip to share with RK. check this out.

    Magnum Opus

As cool as that song is, it becomes even more impressive when you realize that it was actually stitched together from "leftovers" of songs that wouldn't fit on the first three albums. The original title of Magnum Opus was "Leftoverture", but Livgren decided to use that as the name of the album instead.

Just found out that Kansas is finally releasing a remastered version of their live CD Two For The Show. The original CD version has a lot of analog tape hiss so this is welcome news.

But that's not the best part...this new version will feature a second CD with previously unreleased live cuts that were recorded during the same shows featured on the original T4tS! (That's like Rush announcing an expanded version of ESL featuring "Camera Eye," "Hemispheres," etc. from that same tour.) These are not previously heard live tracks that were featured on any of the best-of CDs or as bonus tracks on the remastered studio CDs.

Plus...the whole album will not only be remastered, but REMIXED as well (by Jeff Glixman, who also did their classic albums).

This will be released on July 1st. Here's the track listing:

First disc (same running order as the original CD version)
    1. Song for America
    2. Point of Know Return
    3. Paradox
    4. Icarus -- Borne on the Wings of Steel
    5. Portrait (He Knew)
    6. Carry on Wayward Son
    7. Journey from Mariabronn
    8. Dust in the Wind
    9. Lonely Wind
    10. Mysteries and Mayhem
    11. Excerpt from Lamplight Symphony
    12. The Wall
    13. Magnum Opus

    Second disc
    1. Hopelessly Human - (previously unreleased)
    2. Child of Innocence - (previously unreleased)
    3. Belexes - (previously unreleased)
    4. Cheyenne Anthem - (previously unreleased)
    5. Lonely Street - (previously unreleased)
    6. Miracles Out of Nowhere - (previously unreleased)
    7. Drum Solo/The Spider - (previously unreleased)
    8. Closet Chronicles - (from the original LP and tape versions, later cut from the CD version)
    9. Down the Road - (previously unreleased)
    10. Sparks of the Tempest - (previously unreleased)
    11. Bringing It Back - (previously unreleased)

Oh, that is beyond awesome. It'll be coming out on my birthday. trink36.gif

Now I'm so psyched I've put on the debut album, cranked up LOUD! biggrin.gif

  9. The Three Musketeers.... I couldn't keep all the French names straight and finally gave up in disgust.

The LOTR trilogy..... which I feel bad about because it seems almost like a requirement that if you are a geek you like these books, LOL. I think I'll give them another try someday, but I don't know when.

  10. I'll admit, when I first heard this I didn't believe it, but it's looking more and more like it's real. sad.gif

RIP, Rutsey -- you may have only been there for the first album, but you still have left your mark on Rush forever.

  11. I listened to all but about the last half-hour -- got a phone call so I couldn't really pay attention to that and the music at the same time, LOL.

Great show- thanks for playing my request! smile.gif

Would you mind posting the tracklist for the show?

  12. I'm surprised Amazon still doesn't have any info for this album.

I'm on the fence about this one, though.

Pros: I usually really love concept albums, and the subject matter sounds like it could be good.

Cons: I'm just not sure that Priest can pull this off lyrically. If it's going to be a whole double album that reads like "Lochness", it'll be interesting mainly because I'll be laughing my ass off at the crappy lyrics. biggrin.gif

If it rawks out like the last two albums have done, though, I might buy it for that factor alone. 1022.gif
