  1. Green Day are fake punks! Plastic punk. Dream Theater are better than Green Day. American Idiot is a poor London Calling if you ask me!
  2. Queen's film score to Flash Gordon was amazing. Continue on soundtracks how about the film scores to More and La Vallee which Pink Floyd did and were the albums Soundtrack From the Film More and Obscured by Clouds respectively. Odd seeing French movies with an English singing film score.
  3. I don't watch any shows. All of what is on TV now is awful. I don't even watch those stupid Celeb-reality shows. I just watch Boomerang a/k/a Cartoon Network Classic for primarily the Pink Panther and Looney Tunes blocks. I also tune in to VH1 Classic as well. Everything else is just awful!
  4. Animals is a great album although it signalled the end of the classic lineup. David Gilmour and Roger Waters are proud of the album but Rick Wright hates it. No idea what Nick Mason thought of it. I personally enjoyed it. Dogs rules!
  5. Very good band. Ann Wilson is the greatest female singer EVER! To Hell with anyone who says Mariah Carey is better, Mariah is OK to look at but her singing makes me sick. Ann's singing gets better with age!
  6. From brain-damage.co.uk and A Fleeting Glimpse DAVID GILMOUR - ON AN ISLAND! Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour has more than one reason to celebrate on his 60th birthday next year - March 6th 2006 sees the long-awaited release of his new solo album "On An Island" with a US release date March 7, 2006. Released on EMI Records in the UK and Capitol in the US, the album is the first solo release from David since 1984's "About Face" 22 years. Following the release of "On An Island", David will embark on a European and American tour during the months of March, April and May 2006 - and we should have details of these dates soon. "On An Island" is produced by David, along with Chris Thomas(whom mixed Dark Side of the Moon) and Phil Manzanera(Roxy Music guitarist). Orchestrations are by the renowned composer Zbigniew Preisner and were recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London. The title track teams Gilmour with David Crosby and Graham Nash - three of the greatest voices in contemporary music. Fellow Floyd member keyboardist Richard Wright, Robert Wyatt, Jools Holland, and Guy Pratt also feature on the album.
  7. QUOTE (Moonraker @ Dec 7 2005, 02:34 AM) Heh not here floydfanatic, I havent listened to Journey in a while, but I have always been a closet Journey fan. I especially like the greatest hits live album though, the live recordings had much more of a punch to them then the studio versions did. Captured, Greatest Hits Live and Live in Houston 1981 showed Journey rocked live and were better live than studio!
  8. You people may kill me: Journey Live in Houston 1981 The Escape Tour Journey Escape Bruce Springsteen Born to Run Bruce Springsteen Born in the U.S.A. I liked Journey's classic era 1978-97. Their ex-drummer for the Evolution, Departure, Captured, Escape, Frontiers and Trial by Fire albums Steve Smith is a superb drummer and coincidentally grew up in same town as I did(Whitman, MA) and also graduated from the same High School I went to(Whitman Hanson Regional High School) as well. My favorite Journey tracks tended to be the more rocking/art rocking tunes like The Winds of March(from Infinity) and Mother Father(from Escape).
  9. QUOTE (Mandalorian Hunter @ Dec 6 2005, 04:33 PM) For me, Pink Floyds best album is Meddle. I'm much more a fan of their psychedelic era than "THE WALL" era. it's much more interesting and seems to be More Pink Floyd than the later stuff. Meddle is just brilliant, i'd go as far to say One Of These Days is my fav. Pink Floyd song! Meddle is a great album. However, America wasn't receptive initially and stalled at #70 but over time became a classic and would go Gold after the success of Dark Side of the Moon(Rush hit a similar pattern with 2112 which did crack the US Top 100 but sales were slow at first and would not be until the success of A Farewell to Kings that 2112 would go Gold). I prefer Echoes Live on Pompeii than studio and One of These Days was stellar live!
  10. QUOTE (Moonraker @ Dec 6 2005, 03:46 AM) You forgot Ca Ira there floydfanatic111, heh. Roger Waters just released it last month. I guess no one else picked it up though I heard Ca Ira, it is too boring! Not a fan of opera in its own right although I did like Freddie Mercury's Barcelona album which he did with Montserrat Caballe.
  11. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Dec 6 2005, 08:28 AM) floydfanatic, how on earth do you remember the dates when you bought each album/cd? It is a gift I have with my Aspergers Syndrome(a type of autism I have) which allows me to have instant recall on things like when I first heard albums or saw concerts or memorable events and/or disasters in my life.
  12. I have all albums of PF! My favorite studio albums are as follows 1)WYWH and Animals(dead tie and both albums are timeless) 2)DSotM(great classic) 3)TDB(best post-Waters album proved Waters was NOT PF) 4)Meddle(classic) 5)The Wall(excellent) 6)TPatGoD(Syd was a great genius) 7)ObC(excellent album) 8)AHM(another winner) 9)More(very good underrated album and I can sit straight through) 10)ASoS(I can sit through this one asl well) 11)TFC(I have to be in mood to listen to it although it is great) 12)AMLoR(I preferred these tracks live) 13)Ummagumma(although I like I listen to rarely) Best live albums from Waters era: ITAOT(The Wall rocked live) Ummagumma(very good but songs were better on Live at Pompeii film) Best live albums post-Waters PULSE(hands down best live album ever and I saw them on the DB tour) DSoT(good but digital recording was bland)
  13. My favorite period in 1971 to 1977. Meddle was a masterpiece. Obscured by Clouds was fantastic. Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here and Animals are brilliant as well. In fact, I love all eras of PF! I first heard when I was in diapers in 1976 was DSotM. It always soothed me in a way no other record did. The first albums I heard were DSotM(from birth onwards), The Wall(in 1980 as older sister had record and brother had 8 track), A Collection of Great Dance Songs(mom had record, bro had 8 track). List of when I first got my own copy of each album(lengthy thread and is where my autism/Aspergers comes in handy and I won't mention when I bought re-mastered issues) on cassette or CD(I now have whole catalog on CD in remastered form save*): The Final Cut(my mom bought me cassette in June of 1983 and I loved it. Would replace FOUR TIMES. First CD copy and also was the first CD I ever bought on August 2, 1991. Upgraded to remaster on Shine On box set(and also the 1995 remaster and SACD)) The Wall(Valentines Day 1984 then replaced seven times. First got on CD on December 24, 1991 and got first remastered CD copy on Shine On box set) Wish You Were Here(my ninth birthday on January 24, 1985 then replaced four times in next few years. First got on CD on Christmas, 1991 and first remastered copy was on Shine On box set) A Collection of Great Dance Songs(January 26, 1985 then replaced FOUR more times in next few years. First CD copy I got on August 24, 1991 and first heard remaster on Shine On box set) Works(August 16, 1985 then replaced September 6, 1987. First CD copy I got on February 1, 1992)* A Nice Pair(re-issue of Piper at the Gates of Dawn and A Saucerful of Secrets on one double album with Ummagumma Astronomy Domine replacing studio version)(May 30, 1987 and then again Christmas 1988)(album not on CD) Obscured by Clouds(July 25, 1987 then replaced two more times. 14. Here is my all time favorite Pink Floyd album http://i16.ebayimg.com/02/i/05/35/0d/e7_1.JPG My mom bought this for me by mistake on my 9th birthday on January 24, 1985 instead of A Collection of Great Dance Songs!
  15. no order: Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii 1974 Version With staged Dark Side of the Moon recording sessions(Nick Mason's fuss about apple pies without crust) Pink Floyd The Wall This is Spinal Tap Tommy(Keith Moon as Uncle Ernie, priceless) Flash Gordon(Queen's classic film score) The Song Remains the Same(Peter Grant's tirade on bootleggers, priceless) School of Rock Quadrophenia Heavy Metal(classic 1981 animated film with John Candy, the dean from Animal House as the prosecutor in the short with Eugene Levy as Captain Stern. Classic soundtrack with Journey, Black Sabbath, Cheap Trick, Don Felder, Sammy Hagar and others)
  16. I forgot to mention Over the Edge with Matt Dillon from 1979. In one scene at the beginning, one of the kids had a Farewell to Kings tour T-shirt on from Rush. It depicted the star with man on top of a king's crown!
  17. QUOTE (JohnnyBlaze @ Dec 4 2005, 12:00 AM) QUOTE (floydfanatic111 @ Dec 4 2005, 12:39 PM) QUOTE (JohnnyBlaze @ Nov 30 2005, 08:22 AM) Loved Bugs in "what's opera doc?" and the one where he was a matador. And Daffy in "the adventures of stupor duck". Of the Pink Panther show my favorite is definitely the Inspector (although all of the others are good too). The Bugs Bunny-Road Runner Movie is a classic movie. My favorite cartoons were in that movie Duck Amuck, Bully for Bugs(Bugs as a matador), The Long Haired Hare, What's Opera Doc(Kill the wabbit!) and the collection of Road Runner and Coyote. Wile E. Coyote, pure genius! Yup! I've seen it several times. Great one. That movie is now on DVD as part of Looney Tunes Movie Collection with Bugs Bunny's 1001 Rabbit Tales. The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Movie is still the best. Chuck Jones was the greatest! "I've been known as that wascally wabbit by a certain E, Elmer Fudd...I've also been known as "That LONG EARED CARROT EATING VARMINT", by a coitain Yosemite Sam". Classic!!!!
  18. Alyssa Milano is a MEGA-B*TCH. Britney Spears' name should be B**chney Sneers as she is known for being one(always refusing autographs, verbally berating fans and so forth). Stacy Keibler on Smackdown is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS IMHO!
  19. QUOTE (floydfanatic111 @ Dec 3 2005, 10:46 PM) I'd have to say in no particular order: Goodfellas(Joe Pesci stole the show in this movie) Scarface(Al Pacino is priceless) The Bugs Bunny-Road Runner Movie the first Robocop First Blood(the first Rambo movie) Animal House(funniest movie ever) New Jack City both 48 Hrs movies(Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy were a comedic duo) Lethal Weapons 1 and 3 Christine The Exorcist A Christmas Story Clifford(Martin Short playing an evil, bratty 10 year old) Home Alone and Home Alone 2 Dragnet(Dan Aykroyd as Joe Friday and Tom Hanks as laid-back Pep Streebek and Reverend Wurley was hilarious) I forgot to mention, I did like 3/4 of The Exorcist II. Even Repossessed was funny! I also liked Spinal Tap, "No we're not gonna do f***ing do Stonehenge!"
  20. Let's see IMHO Stacy Keibler(what a hot babe despite the fact it is part of WWE), Jessica Alba(also hot), Linda Blair(yes, when she got older, she turned into a FOX and still looks good at 46). Those are my three hootest chicks pics
  21. I'd have to say in no particular order: Goodfellas(Joe Pesci stole the show in this movie) Scarface(Al Pacino is priceless) The Bugs Bunny-Road Runner Movie the first Robocop First Blood(the first Rambo movie) Animal House(funniest movie ever) New Jack City both 48 Hrs movies(Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy were a comedic duo) Lethal Weapons 1 and 3 Christine The Exorcist A Christmas Story Clifford(Martin Short playing an evil, bratty 10 year old) Home Alone and Home Alone 2 Dragnet(Dan Aykroyd as Joe Friday and Tom Hanks as laid-back Pep Streebek and Reverend Wurley was hilarious)

  23. QUOTE (Arndrake @ Dec 2 2005, 05:20 AM) Of course one has to wonder why the aardvark had a New York Jewish accent. Rushengal, I bet you didn't know that even before it was the Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show it was the Bugs Bunny Road Runner Hour back during the '70s. I always loved the Road Runner cartoons. I know they are considered violent, but watching Wile E Coyote develop a complex plan or contraption to catch the Road Runner and then watching said plan fail disastrously was always a laugh riot. Not to say that I laugh at others' pain, I just knew it wasn't real. My favorite episode has always been the one where Wile E was trying to use a catapult to smash the Road Runner, but every time he fired the thing, he would get smashed. Finally, it is determined the catapult was manufactured by the Road Runner Catapult Co. The Ant sounded like Dean Martin and the Aardvark sounded like Jackie Mason and were voiced by comedian John Byner.
  24. http://www.nostalgiacentral.com/images_tv/kids/pinkpan3.jpg Thank goodness I have Boomerang. The Inspector was classic. The Pink Panther is classic, he may not talk but always comes out on top with his wits and charm. Misterjaw is a classic German shark. The Ant and the Aardvark were funny too.
  25. QUOTE (slacker @ Dec 2 2005, 01:20 AM) http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y234/bobwire/ant.jpg one of my favorites Greatest cartoon characters.
