Saw this at the movies last night. Wow. As if there was any doubt of buying it before hand, after seeing it on the big screen, I DEFINITELY have to get it now. What an incredible show from top to bottom.

Kashmir literally took me to another dimension, and no I was not on any mind-altering substances for that to happen. laugh.gif Nobody's Fault But Mine was also a big highlight for me, with John Paul Jones busting out a 10-STRING bass for the song.

Once the concert was over and the credits were rolling, one of the most unique experiences I've ever had took place. The crowd in the theatre just sort of sat there silent, almost dumbfounded at what they just witnessed. Then little by little the applause slowly got louder and louder. It's rare I've seen/heard anyone clap at a movie theatre. Led Zeppelin definitely deserved it that's for sure!

Incredible show, a definite must buy!!! 1022.gif

  2. What a show!!! 2.gif

I loved it, the setlist was fantastic, my buddy and I were surprised at how well it flowed in a concert setting. A lot of the older 80's gems surprised me at how good they sounded live. I was not expecting Territories to be that HEAVY, and the solo from Analog Kid blew me away. Alex lit the crowd up with that one!!

Neil was Neil, solid and on form the whole night. I enjoyed the nice touch of his kit rotating MID-SONG during Clockwork Angels, which I felt came across really well live, as did most of the new album material. The crowd was fairly into it, particularly Headlong Flight and the end of Carnies.

Geddy sounded fantastic this time around, much better than the last time I saw the band in 2011 in Hamilton. There were times I felt the mix buried his bass a bit, but for the most part it was LOUD and clear and you could hear everything. Also, not much I can say about the orchestra other than, they ROCKED!! They really added a lot to the songs they played on.

Great show. Can't wait to see them again for Rush show number 6 in the future!! 1022.gif

  3. I actually have a soft spot for the Dalton Bond movies. Are they the best of the series? No, I wouldn't go that far but they definitely are better than people give them credit for. His portrayal of the character was quite different from Moore's, and way more intense which is what it needed to be at the time. Particularly Licence To Kill which the storyline needed Bond to be in that mindset. The more humor laden-Moore portrayal just wouldn't have worked in that movie.

Some of my favourites (out of order):

For Your Eyes Only (I really feel this was the best of the Moore bonds, along with The Spy Who Loved Me which is also brilliant)

    Goldfinger

    Goldeneye

On Her Majesty's Secret Service (If Connery had been in this film, without question it would have been the best in the series, bar none)

    Dr. No

    Casino Royale

    Live And Let Die

From Russia With Love (re-watched this one recently, and it really grabbed me all over again as one of the best films)

Only a few have been fairly steaming hunk of poo on a stick. Quantum Of Solace which even Daniel Craig doesn't like and has admitted the script was affected by the Writer's Strike that went down in that timeframe. Octopussy which feels way too long if I ever watch it, Die Another Day was alright in parts, but overall a bit of a letdown. Moonraker is a fairly disliked film in the series, and indeed the movie is a little far-fetched, but I have always thought the beginning with Bond and Jaws in and out of the airplane is one of the better opening sequences in the series.

Been a HUGE Bond fan ever since I was a kid, and I simply cannot wait until Skyfall in November!!! 1022.gif

  4. I remember it clearly, I was in grade 7 and home sick from school that day. As any sick young kid does they park their backside in front of the TV searching for something to watch, and it just happened that I came across the Fox station where I saw this man covered in dust running, and talking to a news reporter. At first, I thought it was a movie. Once I saw other stations covering the story, even SPORTS stations, I knew something was seriously wrong.

Then, I saw the second tower get hit and I was just so confused as was everyone else. Lots of emotions running through my head. Living in Canada (Southern Ontario) and hearing that the CN Tower, which is about an hour away from me, was being evacuated as a precaution it really made you think about what was going on at the time.

I will never forget that day.

On September 20th, Queen - Hungarian Rhapsody is being screened at movie theatres all over the world. Is anyone planning on going? I am and I'm quite looking forward to it!!

Apparently before the concert, a 25 minute documentary will be shown made from archive footage around the timeframe of that gig on the Magic Tour.

If anyone wants to check out Kim Mitchell's guitar work, listen to

"Oh War" from the High Class and Borrowed Shoes album

    and;

"Beyond the Moon" from the Mutiny Up My Sleeve album.

This stuff will freak you out, I promise.

While you've got the "mutiny" album going, listen to "The Party" too.

Cat's in the bag, neighbours holler,
This party's higher than the EIFFEL TOWER!

Oh man, Beyond The Moon is amazing! That solo at the end of the song is just out of control. He busts it out live during his solo shows every now and again and he can STILL pull it off perfectly!

Battlescar was a great tune. Geddy's voice was fantastic on this tune. I can't remember the name of the album, but there was a guy on a tightrope on the cover if memory serves. Great bass fills too.

That album is Universal Juveniles, the last Max album before they split.

Great band!! I have seen Kim Mitchell solo a few times in the last couple of years, most recently this past June. He still puts on a fantastic show, and the guy can still go on the guitar.

If he ever comes to your area in Canada, do not hesitate to go. Worth every penny.

I love triple D too, but I can't watch too much of it because I get too damn hungry.

I hear ya!! The odd time they have a Triple D marathon, and its the greatest form of torture one could ever endure. It's fantastic to watch all this great food being made at various places, yet you're also having to watch all this great food being made at various places and getting hungry while its happening!

Right now my faves are Triple D, Eat St., and this one only runs up here in Canada I'm pretty sure and that's Chef At Home with Michael Smith.

I used to watch Everyday Italian with Giada a lot, but don't see it on very much anymore. sad.gif She was sure fantastic to watch! wub.gif common001.gif

An old friend of mine's father loved pickled herring. He literally used to buy jars of the stuff. One day, he made me try some, and would not let me hang out with my friend until I did, so I did just that.

Absolutely atrociously disgusting, vile crapola. The worst part about it is no matter what you eat afterwards, even if you have a whole bulb of raw garlic, all you can taste is the damn pickled herring.  062802puke_prv.gif

    Never again.

I love me some pickled herring, though not quite as much as creamed herring. Occasionally I'll buy a jar, and since my husband won't eat anything that swims, eat it all myself.

It's definitely an aquired taste! laugh.gif

  11. Was at a vinyl record store on Queen Street in Toronto yesterday, and managed to find original copies of The Wall and Wish You Were Here. They were used, but in very good condition, and priced between $20 and $30. I'm still kicking myself I didn't pick them up, or at least one of them.

    Bats.

There's nothing like waking up at 2 a.m. to find one flying around in your bedroom. This has happened before but I didn't think it would happen again.

I'm worried (I know) that there are more that have taken up residence in the walls/eaves of my house. scared.gif

    That is TERRIFYING. bolt.gif

If that were ever to happen to me, especially since I'm terrified of bats, that would likely be the end of me thanks to a heart attack.

I've heard of people getting them in their houses before, but honestly how in sweet f**k do you get them out of there?!? I doubt anyone would actually be willing to grab the thing....

Believe it or not, there IS another Batman reboot scheduled for either 2014 or 2015. The reason for it is because plans are moving forward for a film adaptation of the Justice League. For those that don't know, Justice League is essentially DC Comic's version of The Avengers.

Who doesn't know who the Justice League is? laugh.gif

Just figured I'd play it safe here. laugh.gif

I work at a movie theatre, and you would be surprised how many people I came into contact with that DIDN'T know who the Avengers were! ohmy.gif

I thought they did use Bass Pedals during the Chorus of HF? Or are you talking about something else?

I can definitely hear Taurus pedals in that section. It sounds to me like he is playing his bass at the same time as the bass pedals.

Well, I went to the show this past Saturday night in Toronto.

    Needless to say...it was amazing.

Thanks to all of you who mentioned how good it was and how I should definitely go. There was definitely no stretching the truth. It was quite the experience. I would've regretted not seeing it.

Roger Waters can certainly still sing. Great job by him. I'm a huge David Gilmour fan, and wish he'd be part of this...but the guitar player did a fantastic job. I mean, the second solo on Comfortably Numb was one of the greatest solos I've ever witnessed live. Unreal.

Highlights of the show for me:

Comfortably Numb - again, one of the best solos I've ever seen live. Wow.
Young Lust - I forgot how much this song f'n rocks
Another Brick in The Wall (all 3) - always been a fan of these, but they sounded awesome live
Hey You - one of my all-time favourite songs
Run Like Hell - the videos in this one were really cool

The production in general - hearing the helicopters / airplanes circling around my head, and watching the plane flying into the wall was beyond awesome...

Overall, I'm so happy I went. I found it gave me a new found respect for the album. Over the years, I haven't found myself listening to it all that much, but watching this whole production really got me looking at this album in a different light. Just fantastic!

I'm now joining the bandwagon of others stating that you need to watch this show live. It was worth every penny. 1022.gif

I was at this same show as well, and I agree with everything you said above!! It was honestly more than a concert, it was truly an event of massive proportions. Worth every penny, and to anyone who has not seen it yet, GO!!!

There was a problem in 1984 involving Neil and Yakuza beating a woman. He vowed they would never go back.

I've never heard of this. Elaboration/link?

I don't remember where, but i'm pretty sure it was in a magazine interview, or something to that effect, with either Geddy, or Alex.

Geddy discussed the incident in detail in the book Contents Under Pressure.
