Lyrically and musically it's perfect for me. Grade: Superb 2. Circumstances The most mainstream track from the album is Circumstances and it really rocks. That chorus is killer. Grade: Great 3. The Trees The Trees is a lyrical masterpiece and is also terrific musically. I love the mix of acoustic and electric guitar. Grade: Superb 4. La Villa Strangiato This is probably my favorite instrumental of all time. This is the best track to demonstrate Lifeson's terrific abilities. It clocks in at around 9.5 minutes and it doesn't drag for a second. Grade: Superb This is the perfect progressive rock album. It has an epic, an instrumental, a shorter prog track, and a hard rocker. It's the perfect length and there isn't a minute of time being wasted on this album. Rating: 10/10

Different Strings The ballad from the album may be its weakest track but it's still really great. It has emotional lyrics and a terrific guitar solo. Grade: Great 6. The musicianship is ridiculous. Grade: Superb 4. Limelight Another lyrical beast with excellent vocals and guitar work. The solo is also phenomenal. Grade: Superb 5. The Camera Eye This 11 minute epic starts slowly, but I still love its atmospheric feel throughout. It may not be their best epic, but it's definitely a top 15 Rush song for me. Grade: Superb 6. Witch Hunt Witch Hunt is the only thing about Moving Pictures that is always under appreciated. The eerie atmosphere of the track is so fitting. Grade: Superb 7. Vital Signs People will probably hate on this choice. Oh well, I've always thought this was a very average song. The chorus is very poorly sung and the track doesn't flow well at all. Grade: Average If Rush removed Vital Signs, this would be a perfect album, but it is still really strong. It has excellent choruses, memorable lyrics, and the musicianship is top notch as usual. Rating: 10/10
  4. Sorry that I was unable to post today. I will be posting tomorrow number 3 and then 2 and 1 the following day.
  5. My #9. I like or love everything on GUP. At the time Bones was new I read an article in which Geddy stated that Distant Early Warning is the ultimate Rush song because it ((and this part is paraphrased--->)) has the perfect mix of Rush at their best in all areas. That was a surprising thing to read from Geddy. It is an awesome, perfect 10 song for me though. It's my favorite from the album

Between the Wheels Now comes one of the strongest tracks from the album. It has a great opening synth line and great guitar work throughout. Grade: Superb Grace Under Pressure is an excellent release with great lyrics, guitar, synths, and production. The album is dark lyrically and is musically as good as synth rock gets. Rating: 9.5/10
  7. Hey, your #6 album is my #6. And now your #5 is my current #4 but sometimes it fluctuates at #5. My weakest track is the same as yours, Madrigal. And I'd rate that the same too -- average. My favorite track on here is without a doubt Xanadu BUT there are other Superb songs on here. In fact, I'd rate them all "Superb" except for the aforementioned Madrigal. Xanadu is my favorite as well!
  8. We are now at number 5. This is the album that had a shift towards an even more progressive styling. Each track will be rated as follows: Awful, Very Poor, Poor, Below Average, Average, Above Average, Good, Great, Superb Each album will be rated on a scale of 1 to 10. 5. A Farewell to Kings Year: 1977 Track Listing: 1. A Farewell to Kings It begins with some great acoustic guitar, but is then amped up in heaviness. I love the chorus to the song more than any other part. Grade: Superb 2. Xanadu This 11 minute epic is fantastic. It has atmosphere, great guitar work, bass work and drumming. This is definitely top 10 Rush for me. Grade: Superb 3. Closer to the Heart Now comes the most catchy song from the entire album. I like the blend of acoustic and electric guitar. Lyrically it's fantastic. Grade: Superb 4. Cinderella Man Cinderella Man is catchy and has a memorable chorus and guitar solo, but the verses are forgettable. It's a good song though. Grade: Good 5. Madrigal Rush shows their soft side with this short ballad. It fits pretty well here on the album, but as a stand alone track it is pretty average. Grade: Average 6. Cygnus X-1 Cygnus X-1 is the 10 minute epic that is a 2 part epic that is continued on the next album. It's very progressive and has some of Rush's catchiest guitar riffs. Grade: Great A Farewell to Kings is a fantastic album with a ton of progressive song writing. Every minute is not wasted on the album and every song is placed perfectly. This is an amazing listen. Rating: 9.5/10
  9. Overture and Temples are among my all time favorite pieces of music. And both of them performed live are always a highlight of the concert. They are fantastic! I love both!

Each track will be rated as follows: Awful, Very Poor, Poor, Below Average, Average, Above Average, Good, Great, Superb Each album will be rated on a scale of 1 to 10. 6. Signals Year: 1982 Track Listing: 1. Subdivisions Subdivisions utilizes powerful synths and lyrics to make one of Rush's classics. Grade: Superb 2. The Analog Kid I love the chorus and the terrific guitar solo. The song is one Rush's best from their synth period. Grade: Superb 3. Chemistry Chemistry is one of the more guitar driven tracks. It's catchy, memorable, and has an excellent guitar solo. Grade: Great 4. Digital Man Digital Man is a really odd tune with great bass work and an amazing guitar solo. It doesn't flow as well as the others on the album, but it's really impressive musically. Grade: Good 5. The Weapon The Weapon has some awesome synths and a really good chorus. The synth work is outstanding. Grade: Great 6. New World Man New World Man is the most simple track from the album. It has catchy lyrics and is a fun song, but it's the least impressive from the album. Grade: Good 7. Losing It Losing It is an awesome song with lots of emotion and a terrific violin solo. I love the lyrics as well. Grade: Superb 8. Countdown Countdown is a neat track. It has great atmosphere and synth work. It's a good song lyrically. Grade: Good Signals is an album that is liked by most Rush fans, but there are those who see it as the first album that changed Rush for the worst. I really enjoy the entire album. The production is a bit underwhelming, but it's decent. Rating: 9/10
  11. We are now at number 7. This is the album that that turned everything around for the band. Each track will be rated as follows: Awful, Very Poor, Poor, Below Average, Average, Above Average, Good, Great, Superb Each album will be rated on a scale of 1 to 10. 7. 2112 Year: 1976 Track Listing: 1. 2112 2112 is perhaps the most ambitious track Rush has ever done. You all know how it goes. Grade: Superb 2. A Passage to Bangkok Now comes the more commercial side of the disc. This track has a memorable chorus and a fantastic guitar solo. Grade: Great 3. The Twilight Zone This track shows the band's psychedelic side. It has some great guitar licks, a trippy chorus, and another great solo. Grade: Good 4. Lessons I like the blend of acoustic guitar with the heavier chorus. Geddy's vocals have so much passion and Lifeson's solo is good as well. Grade: Good 5. Tears Tears has a really emotional chorus and some great lyrics. It's definitely softer, but the overall softer music really works on this track. Grade: Good 6. Something for Nothing This is a great hard rocker. The vocals are so raw and the guitar work is top notch. I love the lyrical message as well. Grade: Great 2112 was the first album from Rush that was fantastic. The title track is one of their best songs of all time and side 2 definitely pales in comparison to side 1, but it's still really good. Rating: 9/10
  12. We are now at number 8. This is a polarizing album that is very synth heavy. Many fans hate it and many fans love it. Each track will be rated as follows: Awful, Very Poor, Poor, Below Average, Average, Above Average, Good, Great, Superb Each album will be rated on a scale of 1 to 10. 8. Power Windows Year: 1985 Track Listing: 1. The Big Money The Big Money is the most instantly enjoyable track from the entire album. It has great synths, an excellent guitar solo, and really good bass. Grade: Superb 2. Grand Designs Grand Designs is fantastic. It has a great chorus, awesome synths, and a really good guitar solo. Grade: Superb 3. Manhattan Project This song has great lyrics and another fantastic chorus. I love the overall sound of the entire track. Geddy's bass shines. Grade: Superb 4. Marathon Marathon is a really good song, but I think it lasts too long and its chorus is not my favorite. I still enjoy it quite a bit though. Grade: Good 5. Territories Territories is another lyrical beast with some really catchy guitar riffs and another really strong chorus. Obviously, the synth work is top notch. Grade: Great 6. Middletown Dreams The lyrics and Lifeson's excellently timed guitar licks make this song so good. The synth work and the guitar solo are both fantastic. Grade: Superb 7. Emotion Detector Now comes the only song I don't like on the album. The guitar solo is fantastic and I enjoy the chorus, but everything else is meh. Grade: Above Average 8. Mystic Rhythms This is the most atmospheric track on the album. It feels magical and really puts me in a great mood. Grade: Great Power Windows is an odd album for me. My views have completely changed since I first heard it. It has grown on me a lot and I used to dislike this album. I love the intricate guitar work and the synths as well. It really is a great album. Rating: 9/10
  13. It's not a 9/10 on a Rush scale. My rating for an album is simply how much I enjoy it out of 10.
  14. We are now at number 9. This album has heavy guitar riffs, great lyrics, and excellent production value. Each track will be rated as follows: Awful, Very Poor, Poor, Below Average, Average, Above Average, Good, Great, Superb Each album will be rated on a scale of 1 to 10. 9. Counterparts Year: 1993 Track Listing: 1. Animate Animate is a very strong opener with great sounding guitar riffs, excellent lyrics, and terrific drumming and bass. The guitar solo is great as well. Grade: Superb 2. Stick It Out What a heavy song for Rush. As a huge fan of heavy and extreme metal, hearing Rush do this kind of track makes me so happy. The riffs are heavy and the chorus is really catchy. Grade: Superb 3. Cut to the Chase This song has another great chorus. The more hard rock oriented guitar riffs are brought back as well. The guitar solo is a nice addition. Grade: Great 4. Nobody's Hero I really love the emotion and lyrics of this song. It's great to listen to. Definitely the most emotional track from the album. Grade: Great 5. Between Sun & Moon The chorus of this song brings it down a lot. The rest of the song is pretty good though. Grade: Above Average 6. Alien Shore Alien Shore has excellent drumming and a very catchy chorus. I don't love the verses though, but this is still a good song. Grade: Good 7. The Speed of Love Now comes the only stinker from the album. It's cheesy, boring, and it actually kept this album down a spot in my rankings. Grade: Very Poor 8. Double Agent Here's the most ambitious track from the album. It has a very eerie narration style during the verses and the chorus is fantastic. The bass work is also top notch. I love this song. Grade: Superb 9. Leave That Thing Alone This is such an impressive instrument. The guitars and bass are utilized well and of course Neil's drumming is top notch. Grade: Superb 10. Cold Fire Cold Fire is definitely one of the catchiest tracks on the entire album. The chorus is fantastic and I really love the lyrics. Grade: Superb 11. Everyday Glory I really enjoy the overall meaning of the song, but is a bit over dramatic for me. It's still a solid track though. Grade: Above Average Counterparts sounds amazing. The production is top notch and Rush was finally a guitar driven band again. There are mostly good tracks on this album and it's a very great effort from the band. The lyrical concept that is based around men and women being counterparts is also brilliant. Rating: 9/10
  15. This has been pretty tough. Most of these albums from 16-11 on my list were tough to rank. I am glad you are reading my posts. Thanks!
  16. I agree with you about this record. The great tracks have a way of out weighing the lesser ones. That is why it is number 11 on my countdown.
  17. We are now at number 10. This album is the concept album that is likely to be the band's last release. Each track will be rated as follows: Awful, Very Poor, Poor, Below Average, Average, Above Average, Good, Great, Superb Each album will be rated on a scale of 1 to 10. 10. Clockwork Angels Year: 2012 Track Listing: 1. Caravan Rush has a way of making great openers and they've done it again. The guitar riffs are outstanding and the whole rhythm of the song flows really well. Grade: Superb 2. BU2B There are some excellent heavy guitar riffs here. The chorus is very catchy and Geddy's voice sounds solid. Grade: Great 3. Clockwork Angels This is the most ambitious track Rush has done in a long time. It's big sounding with a very anthemic chorus. It works for me and is probably my favorite song from the album. Grade: Superb 4. The Anarchist This song seems to get high praise from many Rush fans, but for me this song as a whole is solid, but not great. Geddy pushes his vocal range too much as well. Grade: Above Average 5. Carnies The guitar riff to open this track is sick. The lead upto the chorus is very catchy as well. Grade: Good 6. Halo Effect Halo Effect is a more simple tune, but I enjoy it. It's a really solid track. Grade: Above Average 7. Seven Cities of Gold This song has a really great chorus and I love its catchy bass lines. The story telling is also great as well. Grade: Good 8. The Wreckers This song has another very catchy chorus accompanied by some really pleasant sounding guitar work. Grade: Good 9. Headlong Flight The guitar riffs are phenomenal in this track. The guitar solo is also fantastic. Geddy's vocals are overproduced though. Grade: Great 10. BU2B2 I will not be grading this song because it's not anything more than a short interlude. 11. Wish Them Well I love the lyrics to the song, but instrumentally it just doesn't have the punch of others on the album. Grade: Above Average 12. The Garden The Garden is a beautiful song that is a perfect ending to this album. It has a great guitar solo, excellent melody and great atmosphere. Grade: Superb Clockwork Angels is a great album that feels wrong to put this far back, but that just speaks to how great the material ahead of this album is. There are plenty of unique and memorable tracks as well as terrific progressive music arrangements. The vocals are very inconsistent though (Understandably considering Geddy's age), but I can't just give him a pass. Also the overproduced vocals sound very artificial as well. Rating: 8.5/10
  18. Thanks for your thoughts! I will pe posting number 10 very soon.
  19. It's a good album for me, but I will admit that there's some weak stuff.
  20. We are now at number 11. This album is often criticized by fans for its inconsistency in track quality and its thin production. I personally enjoy it though. Each track will be rated as follows: Awful, Very Poor, Poor, Below Average, Average, Above Average, Good, Great, Superb Each album will be rated on a scale of 1 to 10. 11. Roll the Bones Year: 1991 Track Listing: 1. Dreamline Dreamline had that signature "Rush" sound that the band had not had since Moving Pictures. It's upbeat and has a great guitar solo. This is one of Rush's finest openers Grade: Superb 2. Bravado Bravado is my favorite track from the album. It is beautifully written with terrific melody and a great emotional guitar solo. Grade: Superb 3. Roll the Bones Roll the Bones is definitely a love or hate track. I absolutely love it. I even like the rap. It's hilarious. That guitar solo is excellent as well. Grade: Great 4. Face Up This song is the least memorable from the album. It has a poppy chorus and a decent guitar solo, but that's it. Grade: Average 5. Where's My Thing? This is a good instrumental. It's very catchy and has great rhythm as well as catchy guitar riffs, synths and bass lines. Grade: Good 6. The Big Wheel The Big Wheel has a pretty good chorus and is an enjoyable listen. The production is just underwhelming. Grade: Above Average 7. Heresy Heresy is a bit of a bland listen. It's a decent song, but is somewhat boring to listen to. Grade: Average 8. Ghost of a Chance Ghost of a Chance is a terrific song. It is such an emotional listen that just grows on me every time I listen to it. Grade: Great 9. Neurotica Neurotica is a good track with a really catchy chorus that I can't help but sing along to. Plus, that guitar solo is on point. Grade: Good 10. You Bet Your Life You Bet Your Life is probably my least favorite track on the album. It's okay, but I really don't dig this song. Grade: Average Roll the Bones is a bit of a mixed album, but it's stronger songs are top notch. The Rupert Hine production is clean sounding, but is thin just like Presto. Overall, this album may be somewhat inconsistent, but its high points are fantastic. Rating: 8/10
  21. Using your scale, I'd say it's Above Average. As far as being one of their all time best opening tracks, for me it's towards the bottom and barely beats out One Little Victory and Caravan. I love it! As far as Rush in their comeback era goes, this song is probably my favorite from the period.
