Posting after myself is so lame but... I got my copy of Geddy's CWF photo yesterday. It's gorgeous! Much bigger than I was expecting and signed and titled and numbered with those magic fingers. Since I'm a birdwatcher and nature photographer myself, I really appreciate the quality. This isn't some cheesy poster print, but a pro quality colour photograph on good paper. Geddy must have spent a mint on 150 prints much less the time it took to sign and number them. Thank you, Mr Lee

Lorraine, I hear you about getting older. I'm about 5 years older than Al and Ged and those years seem to press on me. I have so many friends who have passed too young and others I'm holding my breath on (the big C). I worry about all those musicians who were so important to me growing up. And there went another one. RIP Walter Becker

I guess I should qualify that most of my "books" are in digital format downloaded from the big online store that begins with an A. I have visual problems and hand issues, so reading on my iPad is much easier. I can change the font to whatever I want. Really annoys me that you can't do that with paper books and I have lots of those sitting around. Also when the content isn't available in Oz because of copyright conspiracies among publishers. I try to remember to keep Goodreads up to date but sometimes I forget

The Intern. Eh. Ok but patronising to us old farts. IMO

Paul Kelly's new album. I haven't listened to it yet but reviews say it's back to his roots as a songwriter.
The Call's tribute to Michael Been, performing their most well known songs, but Michael's son filling on lead vocals. I saw them live back in the day when they opened for Simple Minds.

Arrival, which confused the hell out of me
I thought it was much better than the similarly themed and same studio movie, Interstellar. Had the same problems with Interstellar.
Interstellar was confusing but in a way my brain could handle better. I should have like Arrival more because I was trained as a linguist just like the lead role. But I got confused by the trying to see the future as the past or whatever they were trying to do. Maybe I'll read the story it was based on.

Kim Stanley Robinson - Aurora. SF about a generational space ship going to a new star.

Since I came back them last October after being away for about 25 years, I still can't get enough of them. I may not listen to them every day, but they're always in the background of my mind.

For those who have not heard it I implore you to try Donald Fagen's last solo effort Sunken Condos. It's FANTASTIC.
Mick
Thanks for that. I love The Nighfly and another of his solos whose title I forget but hadn't heard of this one.
I watched a VH1 special about them where they were wandering around New York reminiscing about this and that. They are definitely nerds and you wouldn't pick them out of a crowd as first rate musicians

I like the song, and it's a good example of the synth era in general, not just Rush's synth era. The video is cute. I like the live version. But it just doesn't float my boat in a big way. It's one of those filler songs to me. Good in general but not one to make me get excited.

I've never heard of them, but then I live under a stone. I like Profit a lot!

You are one of the best sons in this kind of situation that I've ever heard of. It's hard watching your very much loved parents slip away, but that's what aging is like. I'm so impressed with you following your father's wishes. He probably wishes it would just be over and to not be a burden to you and your siblings. You're doing a great job. It's hard, but you have nothing to feel bad about.

I convinced myself it was only money and bought one of Geddy's sunbird photos on eBay. Yes, before you give me the diatribe, I know these sellers buy up limited editions of stuff just to sell them on. I would have gladly paid CWF the money for a print but they were already sold out before I could do so. I reasoned that it is a good photo that I will enjoy looking at for years, and I'm not likely to go birding in South Africa any time soon. I don't have a 500mm lens for the Nikon anyway. Sunbirds are gorgeous. Hey, Geddy! Come to Oz for parrots and other pretty birds.

There are multiple videos of what Copeland gets up to in "The Sacred Grove" which is what he calls his performing and recording space. The music would be more interesting if he didn't insist on adding brass (esp trombones, etc.) to whatever someone is playing. He did a percussion centred one with a strangely familiar drummer participating. Tall, dark haired guy who seemed familiar with a drum kit.

Must have rewired my brain and the more I use those same synapses the stronger they become. Soon I'll just be speaking Rush lyrics.
