    Much money is made by the state for alcohol related offenses.  This has become a cashcow for the state without question.

    There is good reason for that. If the major cause of fatalities on Texas roads was speed, then the state would be cashing in big time on speeding tickets. If you want to drink yourself silly, do it at home. Otherwise, if you want to make a drunken ass of yourself in public, you deserve to get a P.I.

    I agree but they have gone too far. We are the 2nd most populous state and almost everyone has a long commute. That's probably why we are at the top of the list in fatalities.

    no.gif People driving drunk is why we have so many alcohol related fatalities. I don't care if your commute is from here to El Paso. You have a better chance of making it there alive if you're sober.

    So you are saying that people in Texas drive drunk more than people in other states? What about population and length of commute? Most people in Northeastern cities don't even drive.

    They WALK home. Why won't you take that into consideration? Again, the number ranking is due to these factors.

  3. I live in the area where some of these sweeps have taken place. MADD has their headquarters in DFW. Their cause is noble but has crossed the line. Alcohol related offenses are more serious than drug offenses down here. No joke. Much money is made by the state for alcohol related offenses. This has become a cashcow for the state without question. MADD has become over zealous in their cause.

    LOL Interesting link I just found.  They are calling it Super Fix XL.

    http://www.petitiononline.com/nfl12006/petition.html  Almost 9,000 sigs so far and growing every minute.

    We got some pissed off people this year it looks like.  Even the announcers were wondering wtf was going on out there.  Oh well, guess that will teach Holmgren not to critisize the officiating like he did earlier this year.  It certainly didn't help his team when they had to play in the big game yesterday.

    Holmgren has no one to blame but himslef. His pathetic clock managment at the end of the first half and the end of the game gives him no right to criticize anything regarding that game.

    The game sucked. Both teams played shitty. Seattle played worse.

    Both teams are simply above average teams. Welcome to the watered down NFL.

    It's on right now --  Animal House.

    I was thinking about this movie just the other day. I at first thought that it was, pound for pound, the funniest movie ever made. However, after further deliberation, I realized that would not be correct. Airplane, has more "spot on" jokes per minute. Overal, Animal House is a "better" movie, but Airplane has more flat out laughs in it.

    I enjoyed both of those movies, but my first pick (in the comedy category) is Caddyshack. Another wall to wall comedy movie I liked was Cheech and Chong's Next Movie.

    Caddyshack has more one-liners than any other movie that I can think of.

    Animal house is way up there though.

    I can't believe that over turn call on the interception.  That was the WORST over turn that I have ever seen in replay.  I've said this before, GET RID OF INSTANT REPLAY.......

    Getting rid of the ref who made that ridiculous decision would be a better idea.

    This is not the first f*ck in replay. They only get it right half of the time. I never liked instant replay because it interrupts the flow of the game. There were SEVERAL botched calls in that game.

    There are even more botched calls without replay.

    That is why it is a good idea to have it.

    Anyway, don't mean to turn this thread into a totally off topic discussion of instant replay.

    I agree, 90% of the time the replay helps make the correct call. They can watch the play in slow motion and get the right call and games won't be decided by a bad call more times than not. I am a fan of instant replays but only if they get it right.

    But, this time wasn't the norm, the ref watched the play and it was clear to everyone else watching but him. He basically lied and said Troy dropped the ball before his knee hit the ground, but he rolled completly over, started to get up, he was making a football move and kicked the ball out with his knee AFTER he was getting back up. But it's over now, the best team won and it's time to go on to Denver.

    I love this article from ESPN.com

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    "I can't be positive, but when referee Pete Morelli went under the instant replay hood to look at Troy Polamalu's interception, I bet Paul Tagliabue came on the screen and said: "Yeah, I'm going to need you to overturn this and call it an incompletion, mmkay? See, we really want the Colts to make the Super Bowl, mmkay? So just say he never had possession. Try an explanation with the term 'football move' in it, mmkay? Nobody knows what that means."
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Another problem with instant replay is that it makes the refs second guess themselves. They are like JoJo the circus boy out there. I thought football was just fine without it. Enough of replay talk. I'm a Cowboys fan but................. GO STEELERS!

    I like Cower and I like the Steelers team.  I love the approach of ball control with a punishing running game along with a stingy degense.  However, the Steelers are in big trouble this week.  I don't think that this match up is good for them.  The Colts are a focused team playing on that track field of gridiron.  I expect a blowout.

    I'm a Cowboys fan and I know that it may seem strange for me to like the Steelers but if they are to somehow pull this one out they must......

    Start the game with Sweeps and a down field passing game. Try to throw the Colts off balance and tire them.  If they can keep the game close at halftime, then they can begin to wear down the Colts with the Bus.  At that point and time they will be able to begin their punishing ball control game.  I don't see it happening though.

    Good luck Steelers.

    I agree 100%

    I feel that for the Steelers to pull this one off they must also win the turnover game and play mistake free football. Easier said than done I know. The colts have one of the best giveaway takeaway ratios and that's one main reason they have the best record in football. The Steelers also have a decent ratio. The Steelers only way to win is to take away the ball a couple more times and a little luck won't hurt either. laugh.gif

    I'd like for them to win but a good game to watch is all I can ask for at this point, a win would be a bonus. If they lose it wouldn't be a shocker or anything but if they won I wouldn't be shocked either. That's why the games are played, if they don't beat the colts then they shouldn't be in the super bowl anyway. If they do beat them then I hope they get the respect they deserve. I'm just happy they are in the position to have a chance to the super bowl. Only 4 AFC teams left and one is my team so I am happy at this point.

    You're right. At least you are in. My team will be watching the games.
