  1. 1. No Presto, HYF, or Power Windows songs

    2. Performing The Camera Eye as the B song instead of Witch Hunt

Other than those two things this tour is pretty much perfection.

Strongly agree with the first point, but strongly disagree with the second. The Camera Eye was one of the highlights of my show and I totally didn't expect it. Not to mention Geddy seems to have really improved on the vocals since Time Machine.

  2. I am indeed guilty of under rating FBN, as it is one of the few Rush albums I haven't spent much time with (the others being Debut and Test for Echo).

I'm going to go out there on a limb and say Vapor Trails is underrated. It is a darn shame that the production quality was so bad originally (thank the stars for the Remixed version), and this turned many off to the record I believe. There is actually some fantastic songwriting on this album, and I feel it is a better collection of songs than Test for Echo or Snakes and Arrows.

    Just my opinion though.

  3. This list was inspired by a friendly debate that Laughedatbytime and I where having while almost high-jacking a Clockwork Angels thread. Also the greatness of the Synth Era is a subject not covered enough in this forum. For my purposes the Synth begins with Grace Under Pressure and ends with Test for Echo. You might say it ends with Counterparts or Roll the Bones but you’d be wrong.

Without further a due I present the Essential Songs of the Great Synth Era.

You may like this post showing your approval of the list but there is no need for comment or debate. In fact 73 can just lock this thread now.

Dude? No enemy within? Imo the best tune on gup followed by between the wheels.

I am glad someone else mentioned The Enemy Within, as I was about to. Honestly all of GUP could make this list. And Signals really should be included. Honesty, it's kind of a moot point if you ask me since Rush has been using synths since quite early on.

  4. Looking forward to tonight's scope! The Calgary show was my first scope, and I had so much fun its ridiculous. Also...this is one of my first posts on the forums, so I'm super new!

Also, I'll do my best to Periscope the Vegas show next week! Probably will only be able to do a few tunes though because of battery life. First or second half?

    Welcome to the forum, MeanMeanPride.

Thank you! It's a lot of fun to see other people are fanatical as myself (and more so).

As far as the chances of a certain song being played tonight, I can't wait to hopefully see it. I would love it if they would play it in Vegas, but I doubt it. It seems to be a rare occurance saved for the extra major cities. Still, I would flip out.

  5. Very sad indeed. It's a little tough for me to imagine Nintendo without Iwata at the helm. I didn't realize how numerous his contributions were.

They've still got Miyamoto though, who in my opinion is the only real choice for a successor at this point.

I'm sure most here would prefer the second half - especially Xanadu. Just don't pass out in the middle of it. And, whatever you do, please don't take us with you to the men's room.

I was thinking Xanadu as well. As far as the men's room goes, don't worry - bathroom runs will not be scoped! (something about that doesn't read quite right, does it?) :)

  7. I would love to do this and receive something back signed, but does anyone feel a little weird doing this? Like, I don't want to presume that I think they will spend time signing something for me. I dunno, maybe just me.

Maybe I could send something to Vegas.

  8. I was recently faced with this task. I have a coworker that told me he couldn't name a single Rush song. He asked me to burn him a compilation CD, but I opted to go with Moving Pictures. I think the albums need to be experienced individually as a unit, but that's just me. He really liked Moving Pictures (but he couldn't really get into Camera Eye).

I'm debating what to give him next. I'm thinking Permanent Waves or AFTK?

  10. In nearly every recent interview I've read, either Geddy or Alex refers to the possibility of "future projects," which I take to mean another album. I find it hard to believe that the boys are simply going to walk away from music after a career like this, especially at the peak of popularity.

Is this wishful thinking? Of course it is!

  11. I may be in the minority, but I like almost ALL of the 80's Rush. Power Windows is one of my favorite albums ever, and GUP has really begun to grow on me as well. My least favorite would be something from Hold Your Fire...not sure what though.

Also, first post on the forums!
