  1. Some of us girls are downright scary lol.
  2. Ok, so I come from a weird world where fantasy overshadows reality at times. To tell the truth, I watched a documentary about Rush and Alex and Geddy just have this incredible connection, it kinda seemed a bit like love to me. I know...bad brain!!!! I can't help it. It also doesn't help that the only hardcore Rush fan I've ever known (male) discovered through getting terribly stoned with his best friend (also male) that even though neither of them ever considered guys an option, they ended up messing around like, every single day of all four years of high school. I'm a very visual thinker... Like I said ....bad brain!!!! And plus Take A Friend seems a bit like a bisexual FWB anthem to me. Would it be so terrible??? Bad brain!!!!!!!! Bad!! :sigh: Oh and please don't ever mention Twilight...or 50 Shades.
  3. Aspergers is not a disease, it's not even a disorder, it's just that some people's brains are literally wired differently. I'm sure there have been millions of people that went undiagnosed, just thinking they were weird, awkward, got bullied and teased, etc because they could not fit in socially, etc and struggled not knowing there were others like them and a valid reason (not a negative thing, just a concrete reason) some people might have always truly felt 'different' all their lives. People with Aspergers aren't obvious to others in whats going on with them, a lot of times its a purely internal awareness that they feel excluded in ways they cant seem to explain from the rest of the human race. Knowing you are OK and there are others out there you could possibly relate to or at least have acore thing in common with is very relieving and validating. The most common feeling when a person discovers they have Aspergers: 'Well that explains a lot!" (Sometimes everything!) because people are born with it and have it all their lives and a lot of times never find out. Also: a lot of people with Aspergers tend to have narrow focuses of what they are into... With some people it changes on a regular basis, like every three months they have a new obsession level interest, with others its a looooong term interest or hobby. Aspergers people tend to be highly logical and exacting about details, and this includes musical performance, if one has an aptitude for it. If someone with Aspergers had a long term interest in music, they would not necessarily need the natural born talent because with that level of intense interest, just the time taken to practice would override the need, but I honestly think all three of these guys are terribly, naturally gifted in their chosen instruments, and the world is a better place because they were driven to become good at what they did and came together as a unit. Seriously, no matter what the circumstances had to be in order to have them come together, I'm very glad they did. I don't care if he has Aspergers or not, but if he did it wouldn't be a bad thing, it would just make sense.
  4. Ok, I gotta agree with you there...never knew Rutsey performed that one...Neil's drums add punch
  5. Yeah for sure, but on the most important level...their musical abilities :) Ged and Alex were meant to be bonded the way they are...and I hope they always stay that way Neil seems to be standoffish... It wouldn't surprise me at all if Neil was an Aspie actually
  6. I trust a seasoned opinion :) I watched the documentary on Netflix recently and kind of cringed when they were in their 'synth' phase. Any musicin would find all those sounds like a playground I'm sure, but I'm glad it was a phase...they are meant to rock hard, synth softens their sound.
  7. I had actually owned 2112 for the longest time, since I worked at a music store for a while and was trying to mk sure I had all the 'must haves' in my collection, regardless of whether I listened to them now or later. I listened to 2112 for the first time a few days ago...twice in a row, and really enjoyed. I tend to mainline stuff until I'm bordering on sick of it, then I save it for special occasions.
  8. I always wonder how they came across Neil in the first place. He auditioned but who recommended him for the gig? Maybe I have heard this but I have forgotten. The gods were watching...and listening... I'd hate to think it was also 'fate' for Rutsey to be ill though. I listen to their first album and I love it, but when I hear anything after Neil joined I just think....yeah, thats it...that's perfect.
  9. Best I Can is one of my favs for sure! Thanks for the info Lessons and Cinderella Man two in my top 20 or 25 all time... One of the best things about being a new fan is getting to discover all the gems! I will check these out :)
  10. I am new here as well, many years ago there were several other rush and geddy lee boards and one prolific member that was a terrific writer and wrote what I guess you would call rush fanfic(before that was even a word), some of it was pretty wild. I have been off the boards for a while and wouldn't know where to direct you but maybe we can figure this place out together. Well, I found one or two places online that have a few Rush stories, but not much I'm interested in... Personally I don't think its any creepier than the average fan having fantasies, sexual or otherwise, or knowing or interacting with a favorite celebrity, and I'm sure that happens all the time. I have been a fan for going on 40 years now and am a dude so for me the sexual thing is out (not that there is anything wrong with that) but I have also never really thought about meeting them or dreamed of it. I am Neil's perfect fan as I am really not starstruck and really have never been about musicians, athletes etc. I just enjoy what Rush does, well at least most of it anyway ( after 85' not so much)... Personally I think daydreaming about celebrities and what they might do in their off time is more of a girl thing to do :) And I think I agree about the 'after 85' thing. I accept that they needed to explore, but I feel they wandered away from their foundations when they did so, but didn't they come back to it a bit after they ditched the heavy synth stuff?
  11. Best I Can is one of my favs for sure! Thanks for the info
  12. They would have ended up in a completely different place since Neil became their primary lyricist... Did Geddy or Alex write any after he came onboard?
  13. Isn't it amazing that these three guys, out of all the humans in the world, were able to come together and do what they were born to do? Not just that, but with perfect compliment to each other's individual brand of musical genius?? Like they were always three parts of a whole that just needed to find each other? Personally I am sort of blown away by that...
  14. Ok so I started to new thread for this comment.... So if you wanna add to it, please find the other one.... (((That all being said, I gotta say to you all...
