I endorse this statement at 100% ++ :rush:What made me stick around?
Ultimately it's an emotional connection I don't feel with any other band.

I hate doggy years too...I do not even care about the bassline which is really bad!!If there's a typo in the title, you know it's got to be a Zumbi thread.

Einstein did not do great in schooI I have heardThe BASS line makes a world of difference in countless Rush songs battles vs you name it rock songs.....sorry...Geddy is a genius :geddy:
It seems that he is. I watched an interview with him, and I think it was Alex who said that Geddy explores each and every aspect of a song and how the bass will work in it. Geddy also explained the use of the bass in a way I had never thought about.
I've read a number of times over the years that Geddy plays the biggest part in the musical arrangements of the songs. No doubt Alex and Neil make great contributions as well. But I think a big reason Geddy is so involved is because he has to sing too. So, he has to arrange everything in a way that makes it easiest for him to both sing and play at the same time. Which i'm sure can't be easy given how complex and technical a lot of their stuff is to play.
You are right. Alex said that when they are recording an album, Geddy rarely if ever sleeps. He never stops trying to perfect either the lyrics or the bass. One of the hardest things for him to do is to get inside Neil's head when it comes to singing the lyrics with feeling. He said he almost has to become Neil so he can get a handle on the emotion Neil used to write the lyrics so that he could sing them with genuine feeling.
I really do think he's a genius, and it surprises me greatly that he didn't do well in school. Just hearing him speak, it is evident his genius isn't just in music - he's intelligent .
But --------------- to you, he's a genius - to me, he's a genius - but to a genius, he's no genius.

he goes from one injury to another....Cowboys fans deserve a competitive team....I am not a Cowboy fan but I like to see the Cowboys doing good because that heats up the whole NFL...but that will not happen with 2016 Romo :codger: ...nope.I feel lousy for teasing my Cowboys friends. As Romo went down I posted on Fakebook that Romo was out for the season. It's not personal I like Romo, some of us here in Enid refer to our selves as Romosexuals when we get together for Dallas games.

I read somewhere that Jaco is considered by many the Best Jazz Composer of the 2nd half of the 20th Century.....a genius .Worth listening to his music I guess.

I see a lot of people into their 80´s working and making projects...not because of money compression or so...but because that is what keeps them alive ...people that never made as much as the boyz did ( are )......I do not know.....maybe I am wrong but I think this retirement thing was a little bit too early....am I wrong Jagger/Richards, Townsend/Daltrey??? :codger:

Anyone here have it?
My doctor this morning says she would like me to go on statins, but I've been reading about them and, I don't know what's worse - the side effects of these pills or the alleged cure.
Personally, from my research, I think this high cholesterol is just a money making scam, but it's a chance I take.
If I stopped smoking, my risk would lower to no risk at all. As it is, there's a 14% chance of me having a stroke or heart attack (or both) within ten years.
I'm just wondering if anyone here takes meds for high cholesterol, or knows someone who does, and what you can tell me.
I honestly don't know what to do. The pills are waiting for me at the pharmacy.
a table spoon of pure virgin olive oil first thing n the morning I´ ve been told by an 84 yr young lady in top shape!!!

quite close!!...what are your settings on the Orange and the RPM if I may ask.....I miss some of the equipment but want to give a try on the rpm and an Orange 100 W combo I got as a bargain just 3 weeks ago.......greeting all,
over the last couple of months i bothered a couple of you folks in my quest to reproduce as close as possible the beloved sound of geddy's bass.
most of you told me that it was impossible. i tend to agree. sound comes from the machine but mainly from the player. since i am no geddy, that will never happen.
but when i have something in mind, it is hard for me to think of something else. anyways, to make a long story short, my mother died a couple of months ago and thanks to her great sense of generosity, she left me a fair amount of money.
i decided to invest part of my heritage in gear.
i am a fanboi. i admit it. so i took the path of geddy and purchased most of his recent rig. let be :
- fender jbass geddy lee mij with special pickups made by tom brantley.
- an orange ad200 mk3 power amp
- a rivera rock crusher power attenuator
- a sansamp rpm preamp
- a palmer pdi-05 speaker simulator.
(now i miss the avalon u5 d.i. - but this will come soon)
i record myself and i wish you guys to give me an appreciation. an honest review please. please don't judge my playing. i'm asking you to tell me what you think of my sound. is it close or not to geddy ? sometimes when you are too "into it" you miss the objectivity.
my point is not to prove that i achieve to reproduce geddy's bass tone. my goal was just to get closer to it.
your constructive comments will be truly appreciated.
here is a link to my soundcloud page. the track i recorded is red barchetta. (don't mind the main monkey business track i recorded months ago on amplitude 3)

best regards.
Thanks!
thanks for your word. here are the preset i use. it's not perfect though. my avalon u5 is still not connected.
Wowh..yo just got the massta´s rig!.....just curious....how do you route the signal ?? I understand Gedd makes a mix of the 3 paths...do you do the same?
