  1. Goose, I have heard a lot of good things ... After the aborted fiasco of a few years ago, the project seemed doomed to never get off the ground ... But Luca Guadagnino seemed to have a lot of respect for the original, and apparently he did not try to simply remake the film ... Gone are the gaudy colors and sensory overload soundtrack - he purposefully gave the film a drab, colorless look ..

The original is a film a love, and I am really excited to see this remake ... After all the misfires of the past, I am glad they finally got it off the ground, and seemingly in good health

  2. It's good to see Alex getting out there and playing .. At some point, there was a phone call or text - "you want to come on stage and play some songs?" -- and the fact that Alex was probably like "sure" - that's great ... I mean, it's better than saying "no thanks"

But I hope this is just an indication that Alex is going to do something more down the road

  3. From the book "Rush Chronology" .. take it for what it is worth

    Permanent Waves:

"The Spirit Of Radio", "Freewill", "Uncle Tounouse" (Unreleased), and "Sir Gawain And The Green Knight" (Unreleased) were finished during July 1979, and demos were made of those songs, as well as unfinished versions of "Jacob's Ladder", and "Entre Nous". "Jacob's Ladder" and "Entre Nous" were finished during soundchecks in August 1979, while "Natural Science", and "Different Strings" were written in September 1979. The album was recorded from October-November 1979

Sir Gawain was finished and recorded as a demo by July 1979

  4. 1970s BBC production for the Play For Today series called "Robin Redbreast"

Very simple but extremely effective story of a woman, who after a relationship break up, retreats to a family farmhouse in rural southern England .. Some heavy themes, esp for television circa 1970, with some incredible character actors ..

The makers of 1973's The Wicker Man owe a lot to this great little television episode

    Next up .. 1982's Unhinged

I love it when an obscure movie comes along and just blows me away .. Unfairly labeled a "slasher", Unhinged is about as good as it gets as far as dark, low budget horror goes ... Bizarre without trying and about as insanely effective as they come

  6. Lucas, what box set is it?

Hitch has a few sets out, some of them pretty comprehensive - but because I already have Frenzy, Rope, and Strangers On A Train on blu ray, I opted for a smaller set of five : Vertigo, The Birds, Psycho, North By Northwest and Rear Window ...

I had never seen any of these five on anything but VHS and television ... so the quality is striking to me

    It's this one:

  7. BC, I send my best and feel that you are more than just a random name on a random internet forum .. So I echo Hemi's sentiments in that I hope that this procedure is absolutely necessary - as in "life saving" necessary ..

As far as care post op, I would say that you should urge the doctors to monitor is B12 levels, as B12 can be seriously depleted after receiving general anesthesia ..

Doctors never respond well to being asked to do things, but find a doc - even his GP can do it with a simple blood test - find someone who understands and will monitor this ...

All the best and I will be thinking of you .. Please keep us updated

  8. A new box set of Hitch blu rays arrived, so first up:

    Vertigo

The fact that this is one of the greatest film ever made is only amplified by the incredible job on the blu ray

I was taken aback at how Hitch coordinated colors in certain scenes and how he took a thousand details and

would make one simple / perfect scene or shot ..

Black and white film definitely has its beauty, but Vertigo - in all its glorious colors - is flat out amazing

  9. There is also a Fender Jazz period circa 1981

So when we signed our first record deal, I bought a Rickenbacker 4001, and I used that for years, probably up until Moving Pictures. And even during Moving Pictures, I used that, but for half of Moving Pictures I also used the Jazz Bass.

I've read all kinds of debates about what Ged used on Red Barchetta

  10. Cannabis is a plant - and like countless other plants - has some extremely beneficial properties ... What is unique to cannabis is the receptors is binds to in the human body - it is exclusive and if there was one plant that is perfectly suited to be medically helpful, it is cannabis ..

I believe that much of the growing support is due to the overwhelming medical evidence in concussion and other traumatic injury reports - this just cannot be denied ..

This is yet another example of the pharmaceutical industry villainizing something that they could not put a patent on or profit from .. And now that there is so much evidence in favor of, they have no choice but to concede ..

The downside will be that in time, Bayer or Sandoz or whatever medical monstrosity it may be will try to make a synthetic version, then patent that claiming it covers both synthetics and the real plant ...

This coming from someone who has never in his life smoked it ... I got a NJ medical marijuana license when I was debilitated with nerve issues from lyme disease, and the effects it has on the immune system can be insanely beneficial ...
