  1. that's too funny! I'm laughing WITH him on that one. Halfway through i'm sure he's thinking 'oh shit' and how do I recover?

I guess sometimes the transitions between dressing room chit chat to playing live can be a bit abrupt.

    Love it, Ged. No worries!

True, for all the good fun wrapped into one...Austin is a pretty righteous place.  My son is thinking of going to UT...sure hope he can handle the "distractions."
    Osage

I live in Salt Lake City, what "distractions" are you talking about?

I work on the UT campus from time to time and trust me, when the weather is warm, I feel like a one eyed dog in a sausage factory.

Actually, Austin does suffer from this affliction...the rest of the state knows it and has decided to quarantine the place.

Go to Llano, Childress, Balmorhea, Pampa, Tennessee Colony...these are places where you know your neighbors and EXPECT decent behavior.

In Austin and the other Metro-hell holes of Texas...anonyimity allows people to follow the liberal line of "I get to do anything I wanna and the rest of you can just eat my shorts."

Yeah Austin is Liberal, it's also a festering sanctuary city full of crime and disgust.

Great for a good show, pitiful as a place to raise a family.
    Osage

You must be joking. Austin is the only place to raise kids in the otherwise vast wasteland of concrete, dairy queens, and wal marts that is Texas.

You made yourself look very narrow minded there osage. I hope that was not your intent.

Narrow-minded... as opposed to saying Austin is the only place in Texas to raise a family, then dissing the entire rest of the state? wacko.gif

+2 points. I was wondering if anybody noticed I did that. Austin is nice though. I haven't been to a lot of other towns but Bastrop, Brenham, and Lockhart are nice. There's a lot to see and do in the hill country.

I guess I won't complain about the lack of a North Carolina show-at least they are playing on my continent.

MP in it's entirety-interesting. Would have preferred PeW but it's still cool-I hope all of you Camera Eye geeks appreciate this because it's really for you. Don't accuse these guys of not listening to the fans ever again.

I tried it, I thought it was pretty awful. In fact, it tasted just like regular Bud, it just costs more.

Sure you weren't trying a Bud Select instead? That stuff is just plain old bud to my taste. It's the old duff light/duff/duff dry trick.. (obscure simpson's reference anyone?)

Anyway, I'm not a budweiser fan of any sort but I tried the American Ale and ... it doesn't suck. It's actually quite tasty with a good balance to it.

Give it a shot. It's not bad.

  7. Just to add some grossness and hopefully humor to this topic..

I'm a guy and I've had a mammogram. About 2 years ago the doc found a lump right under the nipple which was tender (turned out to be nothing btw) and ordered a mammogram.

Interesting enough right? Guys do get them from time to time.

To make it better... My wife was being treated (she'll kill me if she ever reads this) bacterial vaginosis which has been on and off for quite some time. (again, since cleared - we're all good!) The last time the doc wanted me on antibiotics as well since I could potentially be the cause/carrier or some such.

So I'm joking with the nurse at the 99.5% WOMEN mammogram clinic that not only am I there for a mammogram but I'm also undergoing treatment for bacterial vaginosis and I have neither boobs nor a vagina.

    Oh the irony.

Almost as painful as the time I was standing in the checkout line holding bras while Barry Manilow played on the intercom..

Chin up girls. We men (some) understand!

    QUOTE (subdivider79 @ May 15 2008, 02:07 PM)
I've always thought Neil owes a little more to his fans. Geddy and Alex at least make an attempt to be cordial, while Mr. Peart has a tendency to blow people off like they don't exist. Not cool.

I like Neil as a musician, and all he's accomplished with Rush...but he needs to remember sometimes who exactly has been paying his bills for the last 35 years. During the concert in New Orleans, he didn't acknowledge the crowd one single time..not even after a long standing O for the drum solo. He just walked off stage, while Alex played "Hope"...then came back on to continue the set. A little wave and a smile wouldn't hurt...and God help us all if he actually said "thank you" into a microphone.

Neil is the most talented musician in the group, and no doubt most responsible for the success of Rush...but I find him to be very stuck up and aloof. He's just plain unlikeable. I respect Ged and Alex as human beings a lot more than I do Neil. 2.gif

I disagree. Neil owes you his drumming and his lyrics and his books, that's it. Off the stage, out of the studio and away from his writing desk, Neil just wants to be left alone. Outside of those situations, he doesn't want to be famous. His guarded personality doesn't allow him to be comfortable with strangers who only want to talk to him because he's famous. That's all there is to it.

Just because Alex and Geddy are more willing to meet with fans doesn't mean Neil HAS to.

Sure, I understand that...and I totally respect that. I myself am intensely private, I get pissed off when my own neighbors ask me how things are going. But would it kill Mr. Peart to at least say "thank you" to those who have brought him wealth, prosperity, and power? If it weren't for us, he may still be grubbing shillings in London...

That being said, I couldn't care less how Neil treats people. I wouldn't approach him, or any other celebrity..simply because I don't have a case of "hero worship". If the opportunity presented itself, then sure..I'd like to meet some people that have brought me pleasure through music, movies, and sports...but I definitely don't get all uppity about celebrities. I just think Mr. Peart could be a little more respectful. Don't forget the unrelenting sarcasm he uses sometimes to answer fan questions. That's completely uncalled for.

You get pissed off when your neighbors ask you how you are doing? Your neighbors? That's not right, or cool.

I'm disappointed, when I saw this thread I thought you were talking about Randy Jackson the Idol judge.

Oh man I'm praying that's sarcasm..

One of them is an immensely talented musician and the other is on TV.

  10. 112. The fact that they existed in my lifetime and I got to experience most of their career real time.

    113. Waiting outside the record stores in the 80s to open so I can grab the first copy of grace under pressure/power windows/hold your fire/etc..

  11. well people can debate as to whether it's the best ever but hopefully we can all agree on one thing:

    It's pretty darn good!

Good luck with the emigration TW.

Well somebody spends too much time thinking about thinking. "Check out the big brain on Brad!" One shouldn't be so impressed with one's own vocabulary. Who does he think he is... Dennis Miller?
