  1. The FLAC version of CA that you get the download link to from the vinyl sounds so much better than the CD. I also used some EQ to make it sound even better. It sounds like a completely different album compared to the sound wall we all know and loathe. The drums actually punch, the bass sounds clean, the guitar is growly but clear, the vocals are powerful, and everything can breathe. Makes it a much more enjoyable listening experience :)

Ive been telling folks here for Damn nearly a YEAR that CA was well recorded. Now people

    May start to believe me.

It was well recorded, but the sound wall destroyed the good recording.

  3. Most people's complaints about CA are about production only. Very few have a lot of complaints about the material. Rush need to get Botrill to work on the remix pronto. All the brick walling issues can easily be fixed(a lot easier than VT which Botrill pulled off a miracle considering) and then it is easily a top 10 Rush record. It's probably a top 6 for me without the remix.

Why not a 5.1 Blu Ray of CA remastered by Bottrill? I would pay for that!

  4. I like/love all the 80's albums.

PeW: fantastic album with more experimentation into pop-y songs but still proggy on songs like JL and NatSci

Moving Pictures: another fantastic album from start to finish including some of Rush's biggest hits. The Camera Eye is a masterpiece.

Signals: delving deeper into synths creating a deep and more powerful sound. Great songs, great album.

Grace Under Pressure: more synths than Signals but some of Mr Lifeson's best guitar work. Great production and great songs (except maybe Red Lenses)

Power Windows: all great songs, great sound, and some of Geddy's finest bass work. Energetic and exciting album.

Hold Your Fire: the pinnacle of synth Rush. Almost perfect with Tai Shan being the exception. Love the drum set Neil used for this one too. Great song writing and synth melodies.

Presto: back to a more rocky sound. This album blasts out of the speakers with energy and also includes some unique song-writing. Very good job by all three guys. Only complaint is the tinny production which could use some more balls.

  5. As long as I get to see Xanadu in sweet, sweet HD with Neil on that retro kit ----- that alone is worth the money!!

Don't forget Losing It, The Anarchist, How it Is, Between the Wheels, Natural Science, Jacob's Ladder, Hemispheres Prelude, Cygnus X-1, 2112, What You're Doing, Lakeside Park and everything else.

  6. By looking at the track listing on RushBackstage, disc 3 of the CD will include all songs missed in Toronto, all songs not played on night 2, and Losing It performed by Jonathan Dinklage!
  7. Based on the trailer, geddy seems to be really into the show and alex looks tired and beat down..

It's something called arthritis. Alex said in interviews he was "having a riot" and it was the first tour he could really feel the arthritis in his hands and legs.

  8. I wonder if they'll try squeezing in The Camera Eye from another how somehow since it wasn't played in Toronto

Some say it was filmed at the KC show (which I was at!!)

If that's true, I wonder if they just used the house feed cameras to film that song. While we're at it, The Wreckers should be included as well cause it wasn't played at either show IIRC.

yeah, that would be cool, I was at KC. & yes, they should definitely put in the Wreckers & Camera eye. I love those 2!

As I was there both nights, Geddy's voice (without any tinkering) is what you hear in the video. Great magical stuff that 2nd night!

would've loved to have been there! I was at R40 Tulsa, Dallas, KC, LA

In KC The Camera Eye was a highlight with those LED balloons that some people released and started bouncing around the arena. It was f****in awesome!

  9. Wow, didn't even know there was a clip already from the dvd out. my opinion, much more like R30 which was my fav dvd so far.. Not all goofy like time machine and Ca was the worst. in terms of brittle sound , that goofy camera angle on neils drum kit. and geddys horrible embarrassing vocals. thank god they touched him up here. But its the way I like it. I bet we will slowly get more videos as time goes on up until nov 20th.. Thank god they stopped touring cause if they did another leg, this dvd would not be coming out this quickly. mark my words..

You can't just say they tinkered with the vocals. Geddy did sound that good on the R40 Tour and if you watch an audience recording of Roll the Bones from the second night, it matches up with the vocal performance from the audio/video.

  10. Two things, the audio sounds good, and geddy seems to have been tinkered with vocally, which is alright by me cause i hate a struggling live vocals, Like they fixed his vocals in some spots to make him sound not too bad. Hope this is the case with all. I know people want it (as is). but sometimes it can be embarrassing.. Second. iam sure the release date will be changed a few times before it comes out..

I don't think so, there was a massive improvement in vocals this tour.

That there was, and there's no reason to tinker. I remember the periscope thread from that second Toronto night.

If you watch a YouTube video of Roll the Bones from the second night it matches up to the single vocal-wise. I wonder why they didn't tonker with the CA Live vocals which were cringe-inducing...

I was going to say that but, well, you know.....

If they didn't tinker with the vocals on the CA Live, they won't touch the vocals on this one.

I watched CA Live about a month ago...thought Geddy's vocal were not too bad overall. It's no Time Machine tour.

You can't say Middletown Dreams Live vocals from CA are better than any song from Time Machine.
