  1. This thread has got me thinking of doing up a mix. I think the only way I'd probably go back to listening to Triumph (apart from most of Allied Forces) is to do up a couple of mixed CDs. It would definitely have of Emmett's instrumental things along with the rock tunes I think are pretty good. Then I could leave off turkeys like Magic Power, Spellbound, Follow Your Heart and Hold On.
  2. To those who don't like the sound of the compressed drums.

The Rolling Stone article does state that the duo worked with Nick Raskulinecz.

I'm aware that a lot of RUSH fans don't like Raskulinecz's production work on Snakes & Arrows and Clockwork Angels.

In the bigger picture, the loudness war scenario and the sound of MP3 files have altered people's listening habits.

I've said this before, wouldn't it be great if every record of every genre had Steely Dan listening quality to it? There would be no complaints.

We all want analog sound but like the benefits of living in a digital world where things are more convenient and faster.

Sometimes I think the human race needs new ears, just sayin'.

A rock tom-tom should should sound like "doooomm"; these ones just go "boop."

  3. I like Hold Your Fire (or at least a handful of tracks from it), but not because it's "metal". Rush stopping having anything in common with metal sometime around Permanent Waves.

Signals, Power Windows, Presto, Roll the Bones, and most of Counterparts also trended fairly far from 'metal' or 'heavy', a select few tracks over those many albums being the exceptions.

Did I miss the point of the thread?

The bass playing on HYF is probably the best of Geddy's career.

    Hemispheres blows it sky high

  4. Folded in drawers. They get worn and eventually when worn out (or get too small!!) they are binned.

Over the years I have gone through countless tour shirts for some great bands.

Sometimes I think, gosh, I wish I had held on to this or that, but the bottom line is, I wore them, enjoyed them and used them for what they were made for.

You could have saved them and made a quilt!

  5. Fold them and stack them?

Hang them? Wire or plastic? In a closet?

Keep them in ziplock bags under the bed?

    Display them on the walls?

Do you hang them to dry? Upside down or upside up? On a wire rack or with clothes-pegs or hangers?

    Just curious. I fold mine, so they're always creased . . .

I don't hate it as much as I used to, but I still wish to never hear it again, although that guitar solo is a nice break, it's still not worth it.

Even Tommy and JY didn't like that DeYoung was pretty much forcing this type of song onto the album, after they already did Babe on the same album.

    Truly vomitous.

Styx is not even close to a favourite band - and it's this kind of song that explains why. Their good songs are great, though.
