  1. He's a great player. The first time I saw him in concert he was still a kid and touring with his group Bloodline. I agree that the Royal Albert Hall concert DVD is a great one to introduce you to his music.

If I had to pick on DVD to use to introduce people to him, it would be the RAH DVD, as well.

:goodone: The version of Sloe Gin from RAH is one of the best guitar songs of all time, ever, in the history of forever.

  2. Earl... are you kidding? :eh:

Hey Silly Sue! I knew this thread would draw you out!

    No I'm serious!

As much as I love Steven Wilson and all that he has done it's time to pass the torch!

Wilson is boring. Tiring. Bland. Trivial.

He blew his wad with PT. Nothing can touch that material. Sorry!!!!!

    Time to move on!!!!

    FORGE THE FUTURE BABY!

Of course, you know I totally disagree, Earl. ;)

Besides, I saw Ghost open on the Heritage/Hunter tour, and I thought they were too gimmicky with too little substance. I just thought it was kind of juvenile. If I want some Skeletor-looking priest singing to me about doom and gloom, I'll go to church. And, his robed minions had on jeans and sensible shoes under their robes. It would have been more convincing if they were, like, naked under there and barefoot, or wearing Jesus sandals. But, that said, I haven't sat down and listened to any of their music. That was only my first impression of them.

  3. Another totally winnable game slips away. Our division is giving us the title on a silver platter and when just won't take it. I'm getting frustrated.

I wonder what the Romo haters are feeling now.

Greg Hardy is living up to all of my expectations of him. Which is not good.

Ok I didn't see the game but did he do something on the field that shows he's not too bright?

It's what happened on the side lines. He went off screaming and hollering at the special teams unit after the Giants scored on a kick return, and Dez Bryant was in his face, trying to get him to chill. He's been going off the rails for a few weeks now, ranting and raving and being a general pain in the ass. He really needs to lay low and just freaking play. With his history, and this chance that the Cowboys have given him, he's in no position to cause controversy. So, yeah, in a nut shell (pun intended) he's not too bright.

It doesn't help that Jerry stands behind his behavior.

They all seem to be! Dez and Red included. It's painful to watch.

  6. Get over it. That bat flip was AWESOME!! He just came through in the absolute clutch amid great tension in the building. After a long, great career so far he is finally in the post season and made one of the great clutch plays of all time. There were some Rangers show boating in game 1 and 2. All the complaining about Bautista is just sour grapes. He drove a dagger through the hearts of the opposition. The Rangers pitcher (Mason?) was a moron anyway. What was with the pat on Tulo's rear end? What about jawing at Edwin when all he was doing was trying to calm the crowd. Both teams were jacked up and on edge. Bautista's reaction was not pre-planned. It was pure emotion in the moment.

The pitcher was Dyson, and he is a moron. Ironically, he started in MLB as a 4th round draft pick for the Jays in 2010. His behavior reflects badly on a team that does not do stuff like that. They're known for being likeable players.

  7. Thank you, on behalf all Texas Rangers fans. We like Hamels. He's a good one.

Speaking of the Bautista bat flip flap, Cole was but one of many not amused:

"Only the most dead-inside of those watching could behave as if Bautista's bat flip was somehow more offensive to the Rangers than the three-run lead that caused it.

    Except some people.

Cole Hamels: "It's hard to be politically correct. It's tough to see. A lot of us on our team don't carry ourselves that way."

Yeah, like if this happened on the flip side, in Globe Life Park in Arlington and, let's say... Beltre... belted a three run home run to win the deciding game, that if he flipped that bat, that every Rangers fan alive AND dead would be ... we probably would be a little uncomfortable with it to be honest. Prove me wrong. Someone show me a Rangers batflip in all of the opportunities we had to rightfully so flip the f***ing bat.

Some will argue that baseball is too uptight and the batflip should be allowed. I say bullcrap. One of the BEST things about baseball is that it's played with a general sense of decorum, usually. Sometimes. Mostly. There's a reason there was an actual rule for that funky run by Odor in the 7th. Baseball works because you can't make it up as you go, like football. They've got it covered. The game of baseball is OLD! Whatever it is, it's happened at least once and now there's a rule. You don't bend it. It's the rule. Period.

  9. Sorry to Geddy and to Jays fans here, but I cannot root for them to advance any further. They are a ridiculously obnoxious bunch, especially Donaldson who thinks any ball that comes within a foot of him is a purpose pitch and any mumbling by a pitcher to himself is a challenge to fight, and Mr. Bautista with his over-the-top macho glares and bat flips. The fans at the game yesterday didn't exactly behave the classiest either. Guess it'll be Go Mets, Cubs or Royals for me now.

I'll be rooting for Mets or Cubbies, preferably Chicago, for family loyalty reasons. I agree with you about the Toronto crowd yesterday. Even when the Jays were winning, they acted like a massive frat party gone awry. But, to be fair, there was bad sportsmanship on both sides. Today, Dyson is complaining about Bautista's bat flip, which if you're a Rangers' fan was epically obnoxious. But, Dyson's whining is making the team look like sore losers. And, they are NOT. Elvis Andrus didn't shy away from reporters' questions regarding his errors, and he's taken full ownership of them. Bannister had a classy post-game response to the Rangers' post season fall, and stands behind his team that practically every analyzer predicted wouldn't even go .500 this season. The Rangers battled back and took the AL West. There is absolutely no shame in how far they got this season. They have tons of heart, they LOVE the game of baseball and playing the game together. I can't wait for 2016.
