  1. It's exciting that they're considering that much music. I think we might end up seeing a lot more variance between A, B, and possibly C sets. I wonder how many things will make the cut because they aren't planning on touring on this scale again.

Agreed. I'm thinking a good quarter of the song slots could be A-B types.

  2. I've never set up polls on here, but I want to give it a shot.

I'm curious to see which songs would win out if the masses could only pick one song from each album. Some albums are easier than others. I'm going to srtart with the three above, see how it goes, then go back to the beginning and work my way forward.

    Hopefully it's fun...

  4. Putting out two lists today. This one is based on Neil twice using the word "chronological" during the Ladd interview. The 2nd list will include the Fear Trilogy after I read from a poster who I find credible stating an opinion that it could be possible.

  5. I simply will not pay what they ae asking. I also have a kid in college, and a nine year old to provide for. For what they are asking for premium setas, I can get an all-winter, multi-resort ski pass with access to Tahoe, Utah and Colorado. Easy choice for me.

I'll wait till last minute and scour Craigslist. If it's meant to be..I'll get a last-minute great deal.

Goose, want to make sure I'm not missing anything. When I google Craigslist for tickets, it seems to take me to a kind of ticket outlet (forget the name). Is tvat where you are looking or is there a different place to look on Craigslist? Thanks in advance.

  6. I posted this in another thread back in January.

    (1) IT IS A CLASSIC

Every tour, JL is among those songs that fns most anticipate seeing. Arenas around the country will explode upon the first few notes. For the diehard pre-Signals crowd, this epic will bring euphoria like no other. Without doubt, JL will be one of the most memorable moments from the show.

    (2) EASY ON GEDDY'S VOCALS

Facts can not deny that our "heroes" are now in their sixties. While their physical skills are still way beyond those of their contemporaries, the grind of a tour wears quicker on the body than in the past. Jacob's Ladder is over seven minutes long, yet it is mostly instrumental. This will allow Geddy's vocals to rest a bit.

In addition, the vocals are sung in a lower key than most the songs from that era. With the limited vocals contained within the song and since it is sung in a lower register, one can argue that Jacob's Ladder is the best candidate to be performed from the pre-Signals era.

    (3) BREAKS WITHIN THE INSTRUMENTAL FOR NEIL AND ALEX

Along same lines as (2) above, there is a section of the song of a little over a minute (3:49 - 4:54 on the recorded version) where it is mainly Geddy playing keyboards and singing ("All at once the clouds are parted. Light streams down in bright, unbroken beams"). While Alex and Neil still may have parts within that section, it is minimal as far as pounding drums or playing notes on the guitar. This offers both of them an opportunity of a break within the song. These breaks within songs are extremely rare for any other Rush song especially the length such a break would involve.

    (4) SOME EASIER BASS SECTIONS FOR GEDDY

While the bass does have it moments during Jacon's Ladder, there are at least a couple of sections when the bass is carrying the rhythm only. With the addition of keyboard only sections, this gives Geddy a bit of break.

    (5) OPPORTUNITY FOR NEW AND CREATIVE LIGHT.VIDEO SHOW

Setlists from tour to tour contain many of the same songs. That is all well and good as some are classics, but usually the same video/light show goes along with those songs. Jacon's Ladder offers the part of teh team and chance to create something spectacular and memorable. For example, there can be lighting to resemble to thunder at the beginning sections. There can be bright beams oflight to resemble sunlight in the middle section. There can be maybe video to show "man" reflecting upon the "heavens". IDK. I'm just offering up something new and different. Use your own imagination. Maybe the during the "bright, unbroken beams", the audience can cast smartphone flashlight beams in sync from upward descending down toward the stage.

  7. I wanted to start a thread for all of us who have yet to purchase or will not be purchasing tickets. For whatever reasons you find yourself currently without a ticket, whether it be by flaw or design, take solace that you are not alone.

With 3 kids in college, it is just not in the cards. I hold out hope that I get a potential bonus at the end of April, but until then I will scour the secondary market, browse the ebay types, and dream the little dream.

That doesn't mean I haven't come close to finding comforts in the dog kennel. I couldn't resist (I am weak, my wife is strong) bidding on 2 great seats on ebay this past weekend. I tempted fate by being the highest bidder up until the last two hours but had enough restraint to not hit "send" one last time. Whew!

That's my story. I love Rush. I'd love to take my oldest to his first concert for his graduation present. But while temptation lingers and hope endures, I have come to peace with the idea that we will not see the show.

"for you the blind who once could see

    the bell tolls for thee."

  8. Yes, I'm a Yes man on this

One of the 1st things I used internet for was to find set list for the groups I was going to see

That was part of the "Pre" Excitement phase of the concert :dweez:

But, I also liked going early or even the night before & camp out in the ticket line when tickets were sold that way back in the 1900's

You would be there with all the people who love that particular group the most ! ALL the diehard fans would be early,

We would play their music & talk about previous shows, WHAT-A-BLAST !

Again, "Pre" concert excitement phase :dweez:

    Amen!

I say out all night at a North Canton Ohio mall in late November with a little bit of snow coming down for the HYF tour. Back then, I was really an introvert, so I had to force myself to be friendly but it was a great coming out of a shell life lesson. People were great. My buddy came down around 1am and sat with me for a bit. The people in line around me were just awesome.

    What a great experience.....

Time it was oh what a time it was....

  9. I'm bored. I'll play.

    Not in any order:

    01) Way The Wind Blows

    02) Vapor Trails

    03) Driven

    04) Cut To The Chase

    05) The Big Wheel

    06) Prime Mover

    07) The Enemy Within

    08) Kid Gloves

    09) Vital Signs

    10) Jacob's Ladder

    11) Hemispheres Sphere (great way to end a medley)

    12) Xanadu

    13) Earthshine

    14) Animate

    15) The Trees

  10. Is there anyway you could upload it or point us to a source? I have been searching and have always come up empty.

Pretty sure not many of us were able to watch it, so it might be difficult for a discussion over it to start without the footage.

I'll look for it when it's over.

  11. Nice in depth information on his early musical influence and finding out his dad was a musician in tbe old country which he didn't find out about until later in life.
  12. I'm trying not to give Ged's answers here - just list the questions BUT interesting take to the question above and how it affected their decision to move away from Terry as their producer. Made me realize that I never heard the reason why they moved away from Terry

  13. Next question: if you have a difficulty with a lyric, is it more technical or the messagr behind the lyric?
  14. Taped it last night (NYC area). Watching it now.

Good start. Helluva of a bar mitzvah present for Chabon's son - got to see Rush rehearse in a soundstage 4 years ago.

First question is about staying together for 40 years. The reply is first crediting their families and how they were raised to be fair minded. Also, their ability to make each other laugh. It's a big thing and not to be underrated.

Any relationship needs laughter and respect for each other.

  15. I was lucky enough to grab 3rd row, center floor section, for the Salt Lake City show. Yes, 2 tickets, $404 each. Is it worth it? Of course the fan in me says yes, but the pragmatic guy balancing the checkbook says "eeehhhhhhhhh....." Regardless, my daughter and I will be geeking out closer to the boys than ever before.

And she'll remember that. That's why the pragmatist had to shut up this time.

Can your pragmatist talk to my inner pragmatist 'cause he's not listening to me.....
