Predictable, sure, but if it's going to be predictable it better sound good. IMO this cover and the Land of Confusion cover do that very well

What I meant got lost in the phrasing - Disturbed set the standard for metal covers, and IMO Ghost did their best to adhere to that standard to a fault.  But I agree, it's still darn good even if it's 'predictable'.

Not a Genesis fan, and they absolutely killed that. Sounds great!

Had a lot of Disturbed's predictable Land of Confusion cover vibes.  But Genesis is ripe for this, iconic pop songs with edgy/pointed underlying themes that still resonate.

It frustrates me that our work filters keep me from checking out this stuff.  Later....   :P

It will all be (hopefully a pleasant) surprise when the next album is finally done (we're 99% likely done sometime this summer/early Fall).

Their best album is always a matter of opinion.  Even the "experts" will disagree, as they also just give their opinions.

The first three compact discs I bought back in the early 80's were Moving Pictures, The Dark Side of The Moon, and Led Zeppelin IV.  So, according to Me, those three albums are the greatest albums ever made.

I can't argue with those three picks.  Thread ended with this post IMO.  lol

I think I need to listen to it again. Like with the singles, some songs hit right away, and some need time to marinate in my mind.

I'm through the album probably 10 times and still feel this way.  lol  I mostly ignored the prereleases, wanted to get equally acquainted to all the tracks at the same time.  There's a lot here to digest, musically and lyrically dense material.  But I'm liking it.

There are seven, actually.  Let me know which one you don’t have:

    Sloppy Foot Cowboys (self titled)

    Marmalade

    Quaranteenager

    Saved by Harpsichord

    Comical & Disturbing

    A Harvest of Haggis

    Putin Out!

A Harvest of Haggis is the only one I don't have on CD, I somehow have the digital copy though.

Here's a song I recorded full production with a friend of mine here in DC. I think it's really good, do check it out!

Solid!  The recording is very well done, agree the vocals might be a touch too dry and dead center.  I can't help but wonder if a bit of acoustic rhythm would add some extra depth and energy to the mix.

I like the interesting changes and musical tidbits scattered throughout the song.  Keeps it fresh and quirky, but not gimmicky.

  8. Not enough flange on the bass, I can hear the notes you're playing!

Yeah that pedal nails the gritty Ged sound.

Mix is good, can hear everything real well and nothing pinned my ears back.  The drums are less 'clicky' but still very drum machine soundy.  Might not be avoidable with the process you use to program them, but improvement nonetheless.

Not sure about the song other than it's a thing.  Eager to hear some other tracks, you guys are usually good for some interesting lyrics and vocal compositions.

  9. Soundgarden is the only one I'm 100% behind.  Good cases can be made for several others.

Soundgarden and Alice In Chains were the most grungy of the well known grunge bands.  I'd say Pearl Jam was more straight forward rock, and Nirvana alt/post-punk.  Past that none of the other grunge bands were as influential, well known enough, or lacked longevity to ever get in, so those are the likely 4 that will get in over time.  Chris Cornell had Audioslave and some solo success, died tragically, and was (as far as I know) viewed favorably by most in the music biz.  Matt Cameron also successfully carries on with Pearl Jam.  Their influence extends past the recordings.

I have no clue. Not sure what other available drummers are out there who can get close to his playing style.

There's easily 200 session/studio/youtube players than can handle the Foo's material without breaking a sweat.  But can they do it will his energy, enthusiasm, and touch?  Probably not, but that's what makes musicians unique (ie - "them").  Knowing there will never be a full step-in replacement, whomever they choose will need to pass the Grohl sniff test and that should ensure the transition will be the best it could be.  The band has a lot of mouths to feed now, so I never doubted its return.  It's an enterprise now (Grohl's own words).  I'm glad they're continuing on, although they're trending away from what interested me in them.

New album coming Friday. Three singles out now.  Touring Europe and North America.

They're playing within driving distance, missed them last time and unsure about this time.  Eagerly await my preorder (think it's a deluxe $40 something or other set).  Thick as a Brick Tull surround re-release around the same time too.  And Hevy Devy in full rotation, need to find more time for music.
