  2. I think "Pace" salsa is the best I've eaten. Paul Newman's is fine but lacks the punch that Pace has.

Pace, seriously? Try some of the smaller brands like Desert Pepper or something like that. We usually make our own salsa, but in a pinch, I will buy Desert Pepper XXX Habanero or Salsa Diablo. The best "larger batch" salsa I have had out of a jar was Herdez.

ILs - I brought some of our homemade salsa to your place before the concert last fall - right?

Well, I've only ever had Pace, Newman, and Tostito's, as far as I can remember. Newman's didn't have the "kick". Tostitos' is also good, but after trying Pace, I loved it right away.

Have any of you tried El Pinto's salsa before? It's a local restaurant that makes some of the best world renowned salsa, I think. They ship off their website http://www.elpinto.com/ if anyone's interested in trying some amazing salsa!

  3. Arctic Monkeys - Albuquerque, NM - May 29, 2013

Let me just start off by saying I've been looking forward to this show since tickets went on sale in February, and they did NOT disappoint! I'll start off with their opening band, Mini Mansions: I hate saying bands suck, but this time, Mini Mansions straight up did! I felt bad for them because its three guys, a pianist/singer, a drummer/singer, and a bassist, and their music was just BORING! They did a seven or eight song set with a really bad Beatles cover that put a bad taste in everyone's mouth for the 45min or so they performed, but the best was to come! They had been touring with the Black Keys for quite some time and we were bummed to not be able to see them instead of this poor bands performance.

Onto the main band, the Arctic Monkeys! They opened with a rather new tune, Do I Wanna Know. Great opening song and really got the crowd pumping. The next song was Brainstorm, and I just lost it! It's my favorite AM song and was a real treat to hear so early in the set! The next few song were their live staples (Don't Sit Down Cause I've Moved Your Chair, Brick By Brick, Old Yellow Bricks) followed by some songs off Suck It And See. Towards the end of the set, Alex Turner broke out the acoustic and played Cornerstone, perfectly executed. It was a general admission arena, but fortunately, my friends and I were able to avoid the occasional shoving and seized the opportunity to get closer to the front (ill attach some pictures later). They closed the evening with Fluorescent Adolescent and 505 (also the local area code :D )

All in all, great show and in quoting 505, "Im going back to 505, if it's a seven hour flight or a 45min drive." Would highly recommend!

  4.

This thread is so wrong I don't even know where to start, so I won't.

    Cheers,

So, you like your men to be all sensitive and prefer them to be all manscaped? :eh:

Nothing's worse than having hairy legs, hairy gut, nothing in between.

  5. I love Tide Pods for doing laundry. Never again will I have to measure out the liquid in the cap, then rinse the cap thoroughly so the excess doesn't run down the bottle, making the bottle a sticky mess.

However, I tried the Cascade Pods for my dishwasher. I do not like them. They leave a sandy, chalky residue on anything that might be close to the interior wall of the dishwasher. After this batch is gone, I'm switching back to the Cascade gel.

The Costco brand of pods for laundry are good, too. Don't put one in your mouf, though.

    Cotsco anything is good stuff!

    Especially their pizza.

Not to mention the Chicken Bakes and Blueberry Muffins!

  7. Just spent a few hours watching the newly released "JAWKIN' TO THE OLDIES"

It's a collection of uproarious Jawk Jaw posts from the original days of JAWK AND ROLL.

    Relive such classic posts as:

    "Here it ain't"

"still, if one looks at the underside, just because it's shaped like a paralellogram, doesn't mean the mustard doesn't have any fresh scampy..."

The classic.... "bake the rolls" Followed by the near classic... "smell the farts".

Relive Necro's too much information with... "I don't have jawk jaw... BUT i DO have jawk itch. "

Walk down memory lane with... "THE FORLORN APPLE"

Contain your shock and horror at Tick's recollection of the terrible day that GRAVITY ceased to work in his house.

Revel in the disgust and dismay of long time members of TRF having NO CLUE what this historic thread was about or WHY it even existed. See how it was nearly prematurely derailed with the post of one nameless ADMINISTRATOR, who had the GALL to ask that classic question.... " Explain to me what use this thread has."

This DVD will answer ALL those questions and MORE. Find out the beginnings and meaning of Jawk Jaw. You may think you know... but believe me... you have NO CLUE!!! See the primordial beginnings of Jawk Jaw, as VINCENT interviews the enigmatic creator of it all... TICK!!! You won't believe your ears as the secrets of Jawk Jaw are FINALLY revealed.

  8. Glenn Kotche is a perfect example of a drummer who could get away with a double bass pedal, but chooses not too. It takes a great amount of skill and coordination to use one, and that shouldn't be over used. I get how metal bands like Slayer, Dream Theater, or even djent bands like Meshuggah or Periphery utelize double bass, but some bands really don't need it.
  9. Thurston Moore

    Jeff Tweedy

    Scotty Moore

    J Mascis

    Great picks!

This is going to sound absurd, but I actually prefer Tweedy to Cline, at least in the soloing department. Tweedy's solos typically come packaged in exceptional tone. And speaking of Jeff Tweedy and exceptional tone, Gary Louris is vastly underrated in my book.

I'm a huge Dinosaur Jr fan as well. Mascis is incredibly sloppy live, but I think that is more a nod on his part to his punk rock roots than it is indicative of a talent deficiency. His solos are always intensely melodic and memorable.

Finally, good call on Thurston Moore, who deserves mention for his innovative skills and influence on countless indie rockers. And of course we shouldn't mention Moore without Lee Renaldo, right? Renaldo was sort of Moore's mad scientist foil...

Good too see I'm not alone here ;) I personally love Nels, not only because I've had the chance to speak with him, but because he's such an innovator when it comes to playing! I owe so much to him, and Tweedy on the way they structure their songs!

With J, again, he's almost always overlooked. But him, Nels, Renaldo, Moore, and Tweedy should all be mentioned at once do to their different (and somewhat recognizable) playing styles.

Scotty Moore was the man behind Elvis IMO, and basically helped create Rock n' Roll.

  10. YOLO

WHAT THE HELL IS YOLO? I see it everywhere and have no idea what it means.

I'm so out of the loop. I'm going to Google now...

    Oh Lord.

    F-ing-ass teenagers.

I hate it when people use this as an excuse to do dumb crap.

Although I do say just to irritate every once in a while.

  11. Watching Oprah or anyone who came to fame because of her.

I hate to admit this, but I have to share it. I saw the show where Oprah "These are a few of my favorite things" where she gives everyone in her audience that day a shit load of some pretty awesome gifts. Anyway, the last thing she gave away was the new Volkswagen Beetle that came out a couple of years ago. Volkswagen hadn't unveiled the car yet, and all they showed was its silhouette. Fast forward to two weeks ago, and I am at a gas station buying some sodas. As I am leaving, there is a young woman (mid 20's probably) gassing up a red Beetle. I catch a glimpse of her license plate, and it says "TX OPRAH" on it. So I'm wondering is it "Tax Oprah" or "Texas Oprah" when I realize it is "Thanks Oprah." Then it hits me, that was one of the cars given away. So I pull up next to the car and ask the girl if she was in the audience that day. She wasn't, but her mom was.

    How damning is this?

Realizing you're born on the same day as Oprah Winfrey.

"And you can have my birth date, and you can have my birth date! Everyone can have my birth date!"
