  1. I know everyone has different opinions. This is basically me dying to know whether the Rush community likes the setlist or not. And..maybe I'm trying to find a way to get hints at the setlist without actually looking at it.

    Please get here June 8!!

  2. Does anyone have any advice for the best place to sit at Nationwide Arena? I'm taking my girlfriend and we're not that tall (5'4). Should I try for VIP Gold and get close? Maybe lower level side seats? VIP Silver? Any advice is well appreciated. Thank you!! :hi:
  3. I don't actually see Counterparts ever having a chance to be played in its Entirety, I think Permanent Waves is the only one album that has a chance. There might be more chance of RUSH playing multiple sides like below:

    Set 1:

    The Spirit of Radio

    Freewill

    Jacobs Ladder

    Distant Early Warning

    Afterimage

    Red Sector A

    The Enemy Within

    2112 Suite

    Set 2:

    Subdivision

    The Analog Kid

    Chemistry

    Digital Man

    Circumstance

    Alex's Acoustic Solo/ The Trees

    La Villa Strangiatto

    Drum Solo

    Tom Sawyer

    Red Barchetta

    YYZ

    Limelight

    Encore:

    A Farewell to Kings

    Xanadu

That Would Actually be a very good Show!

That's an amazing setlist! Throw in Cut to the Chase and its perfect in my book

  4. All i know is the camera/editing work better not be like CA. that pissed me off.

    Mick

Pissed me off too! Especially after an awesome DVD like Time Machine

The editing for Time Machine was arbitrary, sloppy, and terrible.

And they really went overboard with those audience cutaways which just added to the overall sloppiness. Hey, instead of cutting to Neil's awesome fill in Tom Sawyer let's just cut to some random goofballs air drumming....

That's one of my pet peeves about Time Machine. In Rush in Rio, I would've let it slide considering the environment it was recorded in, but it feels so out of place elsewhere IMO. During Working Them Angels I spotted an audience shot where a guy was tying his shoe! Other than the frequent cut at the audience, the editing was passable.

I am a little biased with Time Machine, but I still don't think it was sloppy. I thought they did a great job getting the best angles/views at the right times. I really like the more cinematic feel to it as well

  5. Cameraman, I am curious as to why you think the R30 Xanadu is better than the Exit...Stage Left.

I was almost afraid to admit it :smoke: I'm starting to gravitate towards Geddy's older singing voice. And I like the modern take on the song. Wish it was longer though! :cheerleader:

  6. I think R30 has the best combination of good, varied setlist and good, clear sound (plus since they released it on BluRay, you get the entire concert...I'm still a dinosaur and just have the DVD, which isn't the whole show). I have all the DVDs, and they each have their pros and cons. The Replay x3 set includes Exit Stage Left, Grace Under Pressure Tour, and A Show of Hands, which is awesome. I'd say with Rush in Rio, the setlist and crowd energy are fantastic, but the vocals are too low in the mix. With Snakes & Arrows Live, the setlist is a bit more obscure (which I like), but I think the sound is pretty good. On the Time Machine DVD, the setlist is good, but Geddy had a cold when they filmed it, and the drums are WAY too quiet. Finally, with Clockwork Angels Tour, the general fan complaints have been that the visual shots change too quickly, the drums again aren't quite loud enough, and some fans just plain don't like where Geddy's voice is at this point. For the most part, I like them all. But I'd start with R30, especially if you have a BluRay player and can then enjoy the whole show.

This is a good summary of all the live dvds out there. Time Machine is my personal favorite, but I'm a little biased because I was actually at the show. Presto, The Camera Eye, and La Villa were really special treats for me. Snakes and Arrows has some of my favorite versions of songs too. Rush is just a solid live band. Incredible
