I had my first experience with a cigar about a week and a half ago when I was in Washington DC. Don't remember the brand, but it was about $11 and I know it was Venezuelan and full-bodied and I bought it at Union Station.

It's probably either an acquired taste or I wasn't doing it right, but I was kind of underwhelmed.

It's probably because it was full-bodied, you probably should have started with something milder. I'd try one more cigar, a mild one, before you make your final judgement.

  2. Two days ago I had a Prodomo 10th Anniversary Criollo, and it was pretty good cigar. Overall it was a more mild smoke, but at times there was a spice because of the Criollo.

just finished one of my all time favorites, Camacho Triple Maduro. A beautiful, oily maduro wrapper, hugging, you guessed it, lots and lots of maduro goodness inside. A very full bodied smoke, with ample spice from the pre-light draw all the way through the slow burn. A hint of cacao at the toasty conclusion, just an absolutely amazing cigar. I highly, highly recommend it to anyone that likes their cigars big and bold and full bodied. And it goes excellently with a good single malt or bourbon.......

Thanks for the recommendation, so far the strongest cigar I've had was the Series O by Oliva (nice maduro wrapper). The cacao finish seems interesting and quite tasty. Is the strength of this cigar on par with say, triple ligero cigars?

This is something I've always wanted to do just... cuz. I want to experience it. The thing is, no other girlfriends are crazy about trying this and I feel weird lighting up alone. The husband flat out refuses.

Would it be weird if I purchased just one cigar from a nice cigar shop? Can you purchase just one? I'm feeling like I want to do this, this weekend. To hell with everyone else. tongue.gif

I say just go for it, maybe start with Acid cigar (it's a company tongue.gif )

Yesterday I enjoyed a Hoyo de Monterey Excalibur IV. Wonderful. This past weekend it was a beautiful and tasty AVO classic. Wish I could afford to ave these on hand at all times.

I've seen the Excalibur IV before and always wondered if it was good, I guess I'll have to try it.

  6. I'll tell you what, one of the best smokes I've had was the Rocky Patel "The Edge". It is usually around $6.25 but man it smokes, and taste better than many of the $9 or $10 cigars I've smoke. It is definitely worth a try.

Also if you like something a little different, NUB cigars, especially the 466 Habano, are pretty good. They seem like they wouldn't be worth the money because they are about 3.5 inches long but they burn for at least an hour. The habano is a little spicier but nothing over-powering.

definitely different. you can really tell when you're at a concert.

Yeah, we seem to bond. Everyone seems cool with each other. Fights use to break out at AC/DC and Motley Crue concerts I heard (never went to one, never will). Never seen anything like that at a Rush concert.

1st concert I attended: New World Tour. Before the opener (TSOR) finished, someone near the front was knifed [general admission in those days]. The band didn't know about it until after the gig.

Shame to hear that, but that kind of thing doesn't happen on a nightly basis at Rush concerts.

All the World's a Stage was the first Rush cd that I owned (got it when I was 6 thanks to my parents), and I immediately fell in love with the live version of 2112 (I didn't know parts were left out because I listened to the full studio version later), it blew my mind. When I heard the full version for the first time, the parts that were left out on the live version just added to the song and blew my mind again.

I could listen to La Villa all day, but 2112 holds a special place where my mind used to be tongue.gif

Well maybe it didn't immediately blow my mind at age 6. I think I started appreciating it/blew my mind more around the age 10, because I remember I would bring the cd to school and I would listen to it on my portable cd player at recess (which wasn't allowed haha) I think I even tried getting my friends to listen to the cd . . . . . wow, I was a certified Rush fanatic by the age of 10, I never thought about that before.

  10. We are the chosen ones, sent to lead this world into a brighter future. We will not wield swords or spears, guns or bombs, we will use the power of the holy triumvirate to open minds and melt faces.

From the moment you heard the magic that is Rush, and accepted them as your musical deities, you became a member of a nation of elites. Your symbol is the "starman" it is to remind you of not only to whom you are to devote your life, but also remind you of your mission to stand up against conformity, our most hated and dangerous enemy, and to blow the minds of those who have not yet discovered almighty Rush.

You are unique, but not alone. You are among friends, many of which founded this place of gathering. It is a place to share your heroic tales of conversion or battles against your enemy, your experiences with the gods from Canada, or just to mingle with great company.

You are chosen, we are chosen, live your mission, praise the holy triumvirate.

    To 2112 and beyond!!! 2.gif

(hahahahaha see what insomnia can do to a person? rofl3.gif )

We are just extremely devoted fans, who love Rush. We have and will follow them through all of their adventures in music. Does that make us unique? I really don't know.

  11. I don't mind it, it certainly doesn't take away from the song, so I say it's fine. The have used a little repetition before (not like how it is on caravan), one song that comes to mind is Time Stand Still.

As you somewhat mentioned most of the songs that the fans love lack any repetition (one of the reasons I like them so much), but a little here or there won't hurt.

  12. Just curious if anyone else on this forum is into cigars. If so how long have you been smoking them and which ones are your favorites?

Personally, I'm somewhat new to the cigar world, so I still have many to try. Out of the ones I have had I really enjoyed the Rocky Patel "The Edge", it is in between mild and full-bodied, and has a nutty taste, with some hints of spice, and some earthy tones. A great smoke for under $7 bucks.

I also like the Nub Habano, it tends to be more full-bodied and have a stronger smoke. Some people are turned off by the fact that it is on average $6.95 for like a 3 and a half inch cigar. However if you get the 466 gauge it will burn for at least an hour and it has a surprisingly smooth draw.

I will think of more that I like, but for now, what are you all in to?

But Neil can't play at all and he sucks at double bass and groove and jazz and traditional grip and he should've never gone with Freddy and he doesn't smile and he hates god and he wrote dog years and he is not a creative drummer

    I love it rofl3.gif

Got to agree with Restless Young Rushmantic on this one.
    Too much Neil-bashing going on.

For some reason that is a popular thing to do on this website, quite frankly I don't get it. I guess people have a need to satisfy the "stupid" part of their brain way more than they need to. confused13.gif
