Just amazing how much more comfortable and open Neil is now in an interview. Actually seems to enjoy this one. The energy and enthusiasm is almost startling.

Peart: The Watchmaker is the force of order, the diety of order.

He seems really excited about the album and the story. He's been quiet for so many years, and now that he is willing to open up, he has a lot to say. I can't wait to read the finished story that he's been collaborating on with his friend.

...is the song on CA that, when I close my eyes, I can most most easily imagine Alex in that permed mop hair and platform shoes, Geddy with stringy hair and sans glasses, and Neil in the back with long hair and a moustache.

Replace mature-Geddy voice with 70s shriek Geddy on the track and it sounds like something they would have released between 2112 and Kings.

This is EASILY doable, by changing the pitch by about 12 degrees. I'm doing it right now.

It doesn't give that SHRIEK, but it definitely gives Geddy a better sounding voice.

How would one go about changing the pitch of the song? I would like to experiment with this.

Fu***** with Geddy's voice is disgraceful. 1287.gif It is what is is. 2.gif

I don't intend to make his voice "better," I just like experimenting with audio. I find it fascinating , though I'm a novice when it comes to that kind of thing.

I read all of losingit2k's posts with that "double rainbow all the way" guy's voice in my head.

Who's the double rainbow guy? That sounds funny.

It's a video of this guy that is so out of his mind baked looking at a double rainbow...It is funny. You will laugh.

    Wow that was hilarious. rofl3.gif

  5. Those people that don't like Geddy's voice don't have to listen to Rush. However, they can't deny that Rush is one of the all-time greatest rock bands, just because they don't like his voice.

If someone hates this band for that reason, I'm going to assume that he/she has a slight mental handicap.

Hemispheres by a country mile. Hands down, easy-peasy. 2112 has its moments, but Discovery is possibly in the Top 5 Worst Things They've Ever Done list, and given that it's right up front after Temples, it throws me right out of the song and I skip the rest.

That said, Grand Finale is one of my all time favorite pieces of music they've ever recorded. "WE HAVE ASSUMED CONTROL" - indeed.

Woah easy there friend, Discovery in the top 5 worst? That's a little harsh, yea it's not one of their best, but definitely not one of their worst.

  7. I was introduced to this show last year and I think it's brilliant (I'm an American as well). The first episode I watched was "Blink" and it absolutely blew my mind. I think the best thing about the show is that they set it up so the they can make a show about anything, whatever they imagine, they can put on screen. I've been watching it on Netflix.

  8. I thought the rant was kind of funny, but you know he is just voicing what I think most of us on this site already understand. That is, Rush is awesome and the priorities of the current world are kind of f'ed up.

Just give me food, shelter, good company, and great music and I'd be one satisfied person.

  9. I've had my N64 since 1996 and it still works like a charm. I love it.

I am with the rest of you on the games you like.

-Super Mario 64 is great, I never owned it but played it a lot.

-Goldeneye was epic, I can remember playing multiplayer with giant head mode on. So much fun.

-Stars Wars Podracer was pretty fun.

-Pokemon Snap was awesome, played that a lot.

-I really liked Perfect Dark, in fact I played the updated version out on the 360 it looked great. If you like Perfect Dark definitely check out the revamped version on 360.

-I played Turok Rage Wars a lot, it was set up like a multiplayer game even on single player. Idk how many of you played it but I thought it was cool.

  10. So for the past month my roommates and I have been having hardcore Super Smash Bros 64 battles on the N64. It's amazing how N64 games such as SSB still have the ability to keep you coming back.

How many of you still break out the N64 and what are your top 3 games to play?

    Mine are:

    1. Mario Kart 64

    2. Zelda: Ocarina of Time

    3. SSB 64

Of course I could name more but those are the top 3 for me right now.

    I'm down with it...

Recently got into Amon Amarth and Lair of the Minotaur. This goes nicely with that trend in listening. Thanks for putting it out there.

No problem man, I thought they were good so I decided to share it.

  12. Ok I normally listen to classic rock of the 60's, 70's, and 80's and some modern prog, but I found this viking/folk metal band called Ensiferum and I thought they were pretty interesting. Death metal and music of that nature never really interested me, I never liked the inaudible vocals and repetitive music. However this band has a mix of growling heaviness and upbeat folk melodies that I thought was different sounding.

Have a listen. This is my favorite song by them so far:

  13. It really depends, for me at least, on my mood. If I'm wanting more powerful, soaring rock n roll, then I listen to CoS, 2112, AFTK, and on through MP.

If I'm in a more relaxed mindset and kind of want to think comfortably, anything from Signals to HYF is what I tend listen to.
