  1. could someone post a picture of this "SnA "box""? i keep hearing about it, but i have never seen it in a store. now that i think about it i can't remember where i picked up my copy of SnA...
  2. i will not buy R30 until i have a bluray player, and i will not buy a blu ray player until i get a decent hdtv, and i can not buy a decent hdtv until i finish school, get a job and pay back my loans.

thank god for youtube, and streaming video. wink.gif

  3. oh wow. i was wondering if these videos were ever gonna surface. being an Alexisonfire fan, i was really wanting to hear that cover of Tom Sawyer... i almost immediately regret it. tongue.gif they completely butchered it. Dallas Green is an incredible musician, and that cover could've been a whole lot better, but it sucked. sad.gif
  4. i think i'd definitely love the whole album if the production was better. at first i heard the album version of One Little Victory and i didn't think it sounded bad, and then i compared it to the remixed version and i noticed/thought that it wasn't as loud or in-your-face. then i listened to VP version again but this time through better speakers, and i noticed the distortion and how loud it was and realized that the remix was much better.

that being said, i hope they do release a remixed/remastered version because there are some pretty decent songs on there. i still listen to Secret Touch and Peaceable Kingdom, as those are my favourites, but the lack of dynamic range kinda makes me sad when i listen to them critically.

  5. so awesome. biggrin.gif

i just recently turned a friend of mine onto Rush, and he is a huge bookworm. he loves fantasy and the such, im sure he'd be interested in this as well.

  6. as long as they are still healthy, they won't stop making music. they may slow down the touring and the spaces between albums will get longer (yes even longer), but i can't see them retiring after this tour; they love it too much. i just can't think that Clockwork Angels will be their last album, i can't stop thinking big about this band.

  7. thing is that in central/south america, they are celebrating the end of the calendar. it's like new years; after the calendar ends, they start a new one.

its ridiculous that north american media has blown this whole "end of the world" thing out of proportion without even consulting mayan descendants/ experts.

i don't have any links but if you're willing to bet me, i'll personally give everyone 100:1 odds on the world not ending.

not sure if someone mentioned this already, but they could definitely release it as a free HQ download much like what nine inch nails has done. or other not-so-free options. but im not gonna get it if its just an itunes download.

it's either remastered CD, HQ "CD quality" waves/ lossless files, or nothing.

rush doesn't do free these days. they don't seem to do anything unless there's a good payoff involved. this project doesn't really have a payoff, at least not a financial one. they'd do it because they would want to try and right an old wrong. my thinking, however, is that if they REALLY cared, they would have done it by now. or perhaps they do care, but obviously this is a low priority item or they would have done it by now.

that does seem like a more logical thing to happen. i believe that we will see a remastered version eventually, but for now; Clockwork Angels+ tour.

  10. my teacher actually brought up how loud and brick-walled Vapour Trails is in class, while we were learning about mastering. i also played One Little Victory through an oscilloscope and you could actually see instances where the waveforms were cut off.

safe to say that the remixes on Retro3 did not do that. i'd love to hear a remastered version of the whole disc if it ever comes out. it would be this year if it does as some kind of 10th anniversary thing. or probably as another sector-type boxset with presto-vapour trails. either way, i'd buy it- but im a sucker.

  11. I have trouble deciding which album i love more; Permanent Waves or Moving Pictures. I usually decide on PeW, because The Spirit of Radio is probably one of my top 3 songs ever. if PeW is 1st, and MP is 2nd, 2112 is 3rd, and then perhaps GUP and Hemispheres rank tied at 4th.

im not in love with the 18minute side one, i find that a lot of the musical themes repeat too much in the middle and if we're talking about which is a better Cygnus, Book 1 is better. that being said, Circumstances is one of my favourites and La Villa Strangiato is pure awesome. The Trees is a little odd to me, but my mom likes it for being odd... which is odd... wink.gif

for some reason, i don't find Signals to be as awesome as everyone else... please don't hurt me... LOL unsure.gif

  12. Cygnus X-1 could be 11:00, cause X=10 + 1=11

    bit of a stretch. tongue.gif

also, Twilight Zone could be 3oclock, "take it off; he's got three eyes". it could also work for four "the fourth dimension is crossed"

can't believe i missed ONE little Victory!!!

  13. I got this idea when i was looking at the Caravan/Bu2B single cover and thought "damn, i want a clock like that". but it should be one of those musical clocks that plays a bit of a tune every hour. If it would be at all possible to make one, what songs/clips would go good for each hour?

    1-

    2- BU2B - "Brought up TWO Believe"

    3-

    4-

5- working man "i get home at five oclock.."

    6-

7- working man "well i get up at seven yes,"

8- In the Mood "hey baby, its a quarter to eight(actually it is 8,trolololol)"

    9- 2112 -this one is a bit of a stretch, i dunno...

    10- Force Ten

    11-

12- Presto "a dream of a winter garden, a MIDNIGHT rendezvous"

my rational is that when you hear a clip of whatever song chimes, you would be reminded of a lyric, or song title that give an illusion to what the time is. songs like working man have a few references, but i'd like to avoid duplicate songs.

what do you guys think, if you had a musical rush wall clock what songs would you like to hear each hour?

  14. Happy 2.gif Day indeed!

Today, i went down to the independent record store to see if there was any Rush vinyl. i bought Permanent Waves and Grace Under Pressure to add to my collection which includes Hemispheres, Moving Pictures and Hold Your Fire.

i also played Overture and The Temples of Syrinx in between classes waiting for the teacher.

  15. my Sector 1 set just came in today and something i noticed right away is that in the 2112 part of the booklet, there's a big empty space above the title and track listing. i wonder if the 2112 prelude ("i lie awake, staring out at the bleakness of Megadon...") was supposed to be printed there? the rest of the "story" is under the right movement titles, but this one is missing from the booklet.

this makes 1 error per sector, as well as 1 error per different medium; disc, disc sleeve, and booklet. funny how that works.
