  1. The album is a master piece. The Watchmaker is an epic song. It's absolutely brilliant. This album will go down as one of the best prog rock albums ever. It's that good. Love the musical direction SW has taken.

Totally agree, it boasts all the hallmarks of classic prog yet still sounds fresh.

  2. My wife and I had a blast last night, firstly its great having Rush play a show a mere fifteen minute subway ride from my front door!

There was a SNAFU with getting people through the doors, first you had to line up and get the security wand and pat down and then line up again to get your ticket checked, I couldn't understand why they couldn't have done that in the same line.

Teething problems I suppose as the venue's only been open a month.

By a stoke of luck section 217 was curtained off and we ended up in a lower section with a great view.

Loved the first set, I actually felt quiet emotional when they broke into "The Body Electric" as I thought back to listening to that album on my walkman in my teens and wishing I could see it live and here it was 22 years later.

As a few others have remarked Vocally Geddy was on fire, hitting every high note.

Really enjoyed the string ensemble, they were a great addition to the sound, The Clockwork material was fantastic especially, Caravan, The Wreckers, Headlong Flight Seven Cities and The Garden.

Loved Alex's impromptu dance routine during his guitar fail in "2112" I imagine he thought, "well these people paid to see a show, so godammit I'll give them one!" 2.gif

  3. Stubhub is great and you can "shop with confidence" as they say. I will be using them again in the next couple of days for for the Brooklyn show, If wait until the last minute you may even pick up a bargain.

I got great seats for Roger Waters Wall show a couple of years ago for nearly $30 BELOW face value!

I'm guessing The Beatles have played those two chords two at some point, therefore The Beatles are death metal.  biggrin.gif

LOL!! Very true it all comes from somewhere,

In fact a lot of the chord progressions on CA remind me of The Who.

  5. For me, its the most moving Rush track in decades.

The strings at the begining remind me of the late great John Barry and the whole song has a melancolic yet uplifiting feel.

After just one listen I woke up the next day with the melody in my head.

    LOVE IT. biggrin.gif

  6. Not a stretch, same two chords...FACT.

And yes....sigh I know Opeth probably aren't exaclty on Lerxt's I-Pod, but Its fun to speculate, right?!! rofl3.gif rofl3.gif

  7. Lazy morning with my guitar and CA, I noticed that the first two Chords in The Anarchist are the same that Opeth used to open "The Grand Conjuration"

Proof that Rush are Metal!! 1022.gif 1022.gif

  8. Love, love, LOVE IT!!

I just picked up my guitar and worked out how to play 80% of the song, in a matter of minutes.

Like many of the most memorable songs its incredible simple but so effective, very uplifting and moving. 2.gif 2.gif

  9. My fan pack was waiting for me in my mailbox when I got home tonight,

Cranking clockwork in tha hood baby!!! 1022.gif 2.gif

  10. My fan pack was waiting for in my mailbox when I got home tonight!

What a great package and the album sounds AMAZING!

The boys have no business being this good this late in their career but I am SO glad they are

Leave the electronic bullshit at home and just play the f-n drums

"Boom...Krackatta Kracatta...Boom...Boomm sssh sssh Booom Ssshhh......clang kratackta kratackta kratackta ...shhhsshh....beeeooow...beeeooow....Booom....kratackta ting ting..."

I have to admit on S&A live that electronic portion sounded like a bar fight from Star Wars on CD....

    LMFAO!!!!!!!!!:rfl: rofl3.gif rofl3.gif rofl3.gif

  12. I love Neil as much as anyone here but I will tell you one night after a bit too much..er... herb wacko.gif

I put on the Show of Hands Vid when it got to Neils solo you know with the big band "Batman" BAAAHH, BAAA, BAA

My buddies and I were beating our fists on the floor crying with laughter! rofl3.gif rofl3.gif

  13. Top price tickets for the Brooklyn show are $191.35 including fees.

    F**k you Ticketbastard!!

I'll use Stubbhub again, if you wait till the last minute you can often pick up good seats for less than face value.

I recently got Opeth tickets for $10 below face, they came out at $30 each, TM wanted $50 including fees!

  14. Ticket prices haven't been released yet for my "Local" show at The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, the Arena's still under construction for Geddy's sake!

With top price at the Prudential Center in NJ $170, I'm fully expecting it to be $200 plus a pop. ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

However, a Rush show, fifteen minutes on the subway from my front door is pretty much priceless! 2.gif

  15. I'm still in a state of shock and must have listened to HF around 20 times now.

Having now been a fan for 25 years I have to say this is the best thing they have done in decades.

To me it touches on all the aspects of their sound that made me a fan in the first place, complex and a challenging listen but at the same time it has hooks that non musicians can appreciate.

Alex has re-discovered his 70's style and Peart is playing like a man half his age.

Bass wise Geddy is killing it and had me reaching for my Geddy Lee Jazz bass as soon as I got in last night to cop his licks once more.

Vocally he nigh on gets into shriek mode and his holding of the sustained note near the close of the track gives me chills in the same way Freewill's "Each of us..." lyric still does every time I hear it.

And a huge tip of the hat has to go to producer Nick for encouraging them to embrace their past while pushing them foward,

A bonafide classic, this is truly what we have craved so long from our favourite three men of Willowdale.
