    Says it all!!

  2. Absolutely not the last album nor will it be their last tour.

These guys are still going strong! I love what they are doing NOW and hope to see them doing their thing 10 years from now!

I've tried and tried to like Radiohead...I just can't do it.  Same with Muse, it doesn't do anything for me.

If you have to Try and like anything , it ain't gonna work

True...but you know how it is, so many people rave over them that I think I must be missing something. Then I try it again and, yep, still can't get into them.

In fact, I'm listening to them now on Spotify...very meh!!

Some of mine in the past:

"All through your days, a prisoner in chains"

Damn, all these years. I'm not joking either, that's how I've heard it. Guess it pays to read the lyrics.

    Dogs.

Animals is such a monstrously heavy album. 1022.gif

My favorite Floyd album of all time. Would have loved to see that 77 tour.

My favorite as well! I prefer the official tracks over the demos as well. However, the demos are very interesting in their own right!

My wife JUST NOW bought me a ticket to see Bonamassa in Greenville, SC on 3 Dec. My first time seeing him..!

I haven't seen him either. I just got his DVD this week, Live from the Royal Albert Hall, to watch as a primer. I'll probably watch it sometime this weekend. The guy is super-talented!!

  7. I can't wait to see another SW solo album, the first two are superb!! I have a feeling that he'll get this period of (solo) creativity out of his system and start writing again for PT after the third album (possibly during that tour). The guy is a workaholic and can't sit still on one project for too long without feeling the need to expand in another area.

He says PT isn't over and I believe him. Everyone else is just speculating.

Then again...I'd like to see a Storm Corrosion II cool.gif

I had the pleasure of running in to Danny from Anathema the other night at the Shepard's Bush gig and he was telling me that he'd spoken to PT's manager. He told Danny that in his opinion (and that's the important part here, folks!), Porcupine Tree won't ever get back together.
Danny also said "I think we witnessed the end of Porcupine Tree tonight." And honestly, after seeing Steven in solo form - I have to agree. Musically, in my opinion of course, it's on it's way to surpassing PT and on stage Steven seemed overall more relaxed, happy and free compared to any PT show I've ever seen.

I might be mistaken but I think that's an old quote that was refuted by SW himself a while back. Don't have time to do the research at the moment but it was someone who overheard part of a conversation, as I recall.

...well, I did say I didn't like them

    eyesre4.gif

come on, fellas - a little exaggerated creative editorial and you're getting all huffy about it?

I'm thinking that people don't appreciate being grouped into the same level of fan-dom as Twilight lovers.

    I know I don't. tongue.gif

Both DeGarmo and Tate say they would get back together and record another Ryche album. So what is the hold up?!

    Where/when did you hear this?

    http://legacy.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbe...wsitemID=173546

That's Tate saying he'd love it if DeGarmo wanted to rejoin because they work so well together.

    http://legacy.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbe...wsitemID=166788

This one is at the end of 2011. DeGarmo says he would love to do it if the feeling was right and all that jazz. He says pretty much the same as Tate. They work well together, have awesome chemistry, but it would have to come together properly.

Yeah, Tate needs to beg! laugh.gif

At this point, I'm not sure if Chris' input could even save the band. However, it's the only thing that would come close!

Such a shame too because the other members (besides Tate) are very talented...they just can't write songs.

  11. QUOTE (metaldad @ May 16 2012, 12:01 PM)
I saw them last summer and it was Crap. Tate can not sing anymore and they/ tate write shit songs now. Pack it in or fire Tate and get DeGarmo back . I would pay to see that yes.gif Wilton can sing

Yeah, they came through here (St. Louis) and I'd seen them on just about every tour here since Promised Land...I skipped the last one. Glad I did! It's sad that a once mighty band like that has sunk so low.

Last really good album for me was Tribe...and Chris helped write most of those songs.

  12. The 'Ryche are dead to me.

I loved everything they did up to and including Promised Land. I found interesting things in most of their other work up until Mindcrime II (which I thought was ill-advised). American Soldier also has a few decent tunes on it. However, their latest, Dedicated to Chaos, is simply horrid. Considering all the nonsense the band is going through right now with Tate and his wife (cabaret show, shiprocked, etc.) , it's equivalent to whoring out the Queensryche name.

...I think this album is awesome in its own right. There is nothing out there that sounds like this...

actually, there's a lot out there that sounds like this trink39.gif

regardless, it's an awesome album - it might even be 'better' than the No-Man project (which is a bold statement from me)

Wilson has talent, it's nice to see it on display again

(full disclosure: I loathe Porcupine Tree and the silly adulation heaped upon that boring, derivative Twilight-fanbase band)

I understand that you might not like PT. However, I don't understand why you need to insult their fan base.

Your opinion is just as valid as anyone's. There's no need to prop it up by throwing out incendiary language. My $0.02.

    Rock on!!

  14. I saw this a while back. I didn't read the book but I was expecting it to be more sci-fi than it ended up being. Actually, I'm not too sure what I was expecting, yet somehow it failed to meet my expectations.

I disliked Elizabeth Banks' character intensely. Way too one-dimensional. I almost hated Woody Harrelson's character as much, but not quite...and I'm a big fan of Harrelson's. He either does a very poor acting job here or there's not much to the character to begin with. I'm thinking the latter.

Other reviewers have it right when they say the violence was downplayed way too much. This movie would have been killer (pun intended) if it were rated R. Which is my beef with 99% of sci-fi and horror movies these days. They try so hard for PG-13 that they totally lose their impact and become watered-down.

However, even if the killing had been more "realistic", the story itself was pretty generic. Maybe if I'd have read the book, the movie would have been better. Surely there were some subtleties in the book that just didn't translate onto film? As it stands, the movie was far too predictable.

  15. I've been following the HBO series since the beginning but just recently started reading the books. I'm almost done with the first book, mid-way through the second season on HBO. Hopefully I'll be done with the third (or fourth) book by season three.

Really loving both the books and the show!!
