Clockwork Angels-The Story

So brief overview of the story.

 

Hero wants to leave town cause it sucks and he can't stop thinking big. His whole universe is dictated by an overseer watchmaker. He travels to the big city and finds work at a carnival. "The Anarchist" throws some device at him that he catches. He then just decides to travel to the Seven Cities of Gold, not sure if he makes it. He turns back and there's the whole Wreckers incident. Then the story is over and the rest is reflective?

 

Please someone who has a way with words explain the story better, if you have a better understanding. I'm loving the story, I just feel like I'm missing something.

 

Also, how do you feel about the story in general? Is it enhancing your experience of the album? Does it feel forced and awkward?
