    QUOTE (Astromancer @ Jan 23 2011, 08:11 PM)
Anyone here have a Google Nexus S? Or are they out yet?

I want one, bad. I have a Blackberry Storm right now, and while it's a good phone, it has a lot of issues and is rapidly getting left in the dust by not only Android phones and iOS, but by it's own developer, who has seemingly abandoned it.

I want either a Nexus S or a Thunderbolt when they come out.

But realistically, I'll prolly end up with a droid. Anyone have one of these and can recommend it, advise about it?

Isn't the Nexus S going to feature Gingerbread as the installed OS?

If you have the chance, get an HTC Android phone. Either the Droid Incredible, the EVO 4G, or the EVO 4G Shift.

I love HTC's hardware, but everything they have is still running Android 2.2 and has their in-house software stretched over it.

That's one of the reasons I want a Nexus S: It has no other software on it; pure Android all the way.

There are rumors that the Galaxy S2 will be pure as well, so that's one to watch as well.

    district 9
    fourth kind
    skyline

im an alien fanatic but why oh why cant somebody make a decent film on the subject.
yes there have been many but not for a long time

    classic alien films include

    war of the worlds
    close encounters
    the thing
    fire in the sky
    alien 1&2
    communion

Dude, do not EVEN throw District 9 in with those other two, I thought it was brilliant. Maybe my favorite Sci-Fi movie of all time, second perhaps to The Thing.

The Forth Kind was at least entertaining.

    OT:

The Mist. All good up until the ending...

  4. Plasma? Not very reliable, but if you manage to own one that doesn't get dangerously hot, or is not going to get screen burn-in, more power to you.

I'm getting a large (don't know exactly how large, or what brand, but it's big bastard; I've seen the box it came in) LED TV for Christmas smile.gif

  5. One more thing (I laugh randomly thinking about this frequently):

I's not retarded, as the title of the video may make it out to be, it's brilliantly edited and one of the funniest things I've ever seen, especially as a Trek fan.

  6. What's this preachiness I keep hearing about? The philosophy is the most important thing about the franchise, and should be taken to heart, being the best model for humanity to follow. It was definitely present in the new movie through the actions of the characters, even if it wasn't full out voiced and explained. It didn't have to be.

Now: Yes, Trek is the shit. Old and new alike.

Dude...wtf? The Last Temptation of Christ was brilliant

    no.gif

I think it's one of Scorsese's worst films. I think it's a case of critics and fans wanting to be brilliant because of the "controversial" subject matter. That aside, I personally think it's a bad film, poorly directed with hammed up acting. Meh.

I saw it without having any knowledge of the director's other works, and without any prior-knowledge-based expectations. All I knew about it was the soundtrack, and even that took a backseat to the film itself, at least for me.

I do not understand why it didn't take for so many people, but I really loved it. I cannot explain to you how I see it as brilliant, no exact factors, but I got something out of it, some remarkable feeling, and I "got it", I guess you could say. It had the overall ability to move me and captivate, instead of just walking away thinking "oh, what pretty shots", or "I love that actor, I like watching them be themselves on screen, so the movie was good", I was completely blown away. Although I understand and respect that you were not.

  8. QUOTE (Tom Sawyer @ Nov 17 2010, 04:10 PM)
Scorsees, I don't really like any of his films. I abhor him for making the last temptation of Christ, what a total piece of crap!

Dude...wtf? The Last Temptation of Christ was brilliant, and Peter Gabriell's soundtrack was jaw-dropping in itself.

For me, it's James Cameron. At least modern James Cameron. Avatar was a pile of computer-generated dogshit, perfectly rendered and seamlessly integrated to look like real dogshit. He's lost my faith as a director.

  9. I'm getting a Motorola Droid in a few weeks (more or less).

Don't get me wrong, I love Blackberry's, but they keep failing on me (by my direct intervention once), and the droid will be both a practicality and coolness based upgrade.

They can just do so much...

Actually, I f***ing hate cockfighting, too, now that you mention it.

And until I mentioned it, you weren't even thinking about it, were you? My point has been made.

Cock fighting wasn't part of the discussion specifically until you used it as an example.

    QUOTE (Astromancer @ Nov 17 2010, 10:10 PM)
If he had forced children to mutilate each other instead of dogs, but played twice as well as he is now, would everyone still praise him?

This is where many extreme "animal lovers" are in the wrong. They tend to equate dogs with human children. Extreme dog lovers tend to treat them as "part of the family", and they dote on and spoil them to no end.

"Fluffy" is a DOG. He is not a child. He is nowhere near a human being. He is far, far closer to being a raccoon or hamster than a human being. It is dishonest and irrational to even bring up "child fighting" or compare it to dogfighting. In other countries, dogs are eaten. So what? They're DOGS. They're animals. They're no different than the deer, rabbits or squirrels we eat.

Where is all the outrage over cockfighting? Why is there little to no media outrage over a game that is just as cruel as dogfighting? Because a rooster isn't "Lassie" or "Benji". A rooster isn't a beloved pet. Why don't animal lovers show the same amount of outrage over it?? eyesre4.gif

Actually, I f***ing hate cockfighting, too, now that you mention it.

Also, to compare dog-fighting to children-fighting is in no-way unfair. Both dogs and children feel the pain of having their faces ripped apart. The only difference is how you perceive the two different living creatures. Sure, a kid might be able to babble about their pain and cry for their parents, whereas a dog could only whine and suffer, but it boils down to the same action: You take something innocent, torture it, and get it to kill other innocent things.

He trained his pits by sicking them on beagle puppies. He's a scumbag, and those who would defend his actions because they like how he plays a chickenshit game are scumbags as well.

"He rapped those kids alright, but he has got one HELL of a throwing arm on him! He should sign MY kids Jersey after the game"

  12. QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ Nov 16 2010, 10:33 PM)
He paid his debt to society, enough said. He did more time, paid more money, lost more money than any civilian convicted of this crime, and now speaks for free about the errors of his ways. The NFL has guys who shot and drunkenly ran over people.

    Get over it.

    Signed,
    An Eagles Fan

I don't care about when "Society" says his debt is payed, I care about when he answers for the pain and disfiguration to all those dogs in his little fun pit.

That sick bastard is going to be praised and loved, and he will never truly understand what he did or how f*cked up a person has to be to do something like that.

He's nothing more than an ape. I don't say that because he's black, I say that because he's not a human being. No more coherent than the dogs he abused, and no where near as deserving of sympathy.

Until he does some radically good things in the real world (not the NFL), he has proven nothing.

It's like saying "He raped a few kids, but MAN has he got a throwing arm on him! He's my new hero!"

    f**k MICHAEL VICK.

    Signed,

Not a fan of Puppy Tourture

  13. Unless all the douche-monkey got pounded out of his ass in the prison showers, the love and fame aspect shouldn't be present in his miserable life.

I wonder how magnificent of an athlete he'd be if he were put in a cage with a dozen or so pits? How much of that hood-rat look on his face would remain if it were torn like that of the dogs that fought in his bullshit little ring?

He's a piece of shit. A torturer. He's going to have to do a hell of a lot more than play a game well to be anything more than a thug out of prison.
