  1. I think the reason for mostly large arena shows this time is simply to maximize profit with less shows. The tours since reforming have all been at least approx. 90 dates mostly in amphitheaters and small arenas. That was what was necessary to pay for the tour and pay themselves and the crew what they wanted. The band gets a third, the crew a third and the show costs a third. This tour is only 30 something dates. By playing large arenas the 30+dates should equal the attendance of approx. 50 shows on previous tours. When you factor in the substantial increase in ticket prices this tour, income should be around 2/3 of previous tours. I'm expecting a smaller scale show also which will make up for the other 1/3.

I believe it's always "onward and upward" for them, and I don't believe anything will be less profitable or smaller scale if they can help it. This will be on the level of MP or TMT.

If anything, they're an arena band at heart. Always have been. This way there's maximization of effects and a return to their glory days.

  2. Do any of you have experience or success waiting 'til the last minute to buy your tickets, either online or at the box office? I ask because I'll be in certain cities on show days but don't have tickets yet.

Lucked out once for Cleveland in 2011 by buying tickets the morning of and hightailing it to Cleveland. I was on the side, but very close to the stage.

  3. I only meant to suggest there may be reasons that Neil might say yes to an eventual European version of R40. Exposing children to great world travel is among the many things the successful like to do.

I'm guessing that you also believe in the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus?

It's not that hard so, try and stay with me here:

After this US tour, Neil will NEVER tour again... EVER. It's no secret that he has hated touring for years and he couldn't be happier that the finish line is finally within sight. If he wants to travel the world with his daughter, I'm more than pretty sure that he can afford to do it without the band & crew.

This story has legs, because (If you read Neil's books) he usually goes to the rural Quebec/Ontario cabin every February, all signs point to him being in LA the entire month.

I'm a little confused as to what you are saying.

Unless you produce something more definitive than what has been written the last couple of months or credentials showing you’re some inside expert I’ll continue with my current mind set.

One can pay to visit Europe or do a working vacation letting it pay for it self.

John, has FOH been wrong once yet?

Unfortunately all signs point to this May-August run being it.

  5. I have to admit that for the first time in decades I’m not that excited about going to see them. I have an idea that they may well still tour small venues in the future and that is my dream. To see RUSH at the House of Blues would be something I would change my schedule for. I guess I may have seen them too much.

Who knows. Doesn't seem that likely to me, because I don't think they will play if they can't put "everything" into it. Why take that risk?

  6. I didn't read the whole thread, but this WILL be the last Rush tour. I can't say what Geddy & Alex will do, but after this, Neil will never tour again. Seriously, the writing has been on the wall for a number of years - it's just now coming to fruition for him. And hey, they all had a great run and deserve to enjoy their remaining years, in whatever way they want to.

See Rush this time around, or never see 'em again...

Damn. Very sorry to read this.

  7. But no doubt John Good has worked closely with Neil for years, and Neil mentions him often when discussing his drums.

If it wasn't true, there wouldn't be anything to plug. Here's the catch: obstensibly none of us know the details of the "other" kit.
