I do not have them myself, but I've heard there have been issues with the Farewell to Kings DVD-A version of Closer to the Heart and some issues with other tracks here and there.

Personally, I wont be getting these unless they release the DVD-A versions as stand-alone albums. I'm VERY disappointed with the bands decision to release these latest remasters in this way. I think its just another cash grab and BTW, the band DID have a hand in this release. The whole thing was terribly thought out and from what I understand, they are mastered even louder than the sonically horrible 97 remasters, which I didnt even think was possible. Yep, I'm passing on this one. Bad move boys!!

Why is it a bad move? They are entitled to sell their music as they wish. If you don't support the decision, simply don't buy it. Sectors do not diminish artistic integrity one iota. Technology allows a lot of marketing opportunities.

  2. Rush are probably the best all-around value in live music. No one plays longer or harder.

The notion of (fill in X) as a "cash grab" is silly.

They are a business. Simply don't buy it if you feel a product isn't redeeming or worthwhile.

I can think of no other band who has pushed--and continues to push--the envelope for so long.

  3. Isn't this, by and large, a fan message board?

If so, how can a fan not note the many drug references in both song and prose?

Bigger questions: "Why wouldn't they?" (Drugs heighten many things.)

"Does it matter?" (Of course not; inspired work always inspires.)

The use of drugs does not diminish the integrity of an artist. Moreover, why do many conservatives falsely believe drugs can't be done responsibly?

We know their current vices. trink38.gif trink38.gif Neil loves booze and smokes. Geddy and Alex are oenophiles.

    Do the math...

(BTW, most of those people who got cars had some IRS trouble with the taxes, something the Oprah team failed to consider when making that generous gesture).

I am not sure I would ever want to win a car for the reasons being I'd have to pay the damn taxes on it, and my car insurance would go up. Just give me something smaller, like Rush meet n greet tickets rofl3.gif

Really? Pay the taxes and sell it. It would be the easiest, fastest and best return you'll ever make! new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

Honestly, if it's made by Ben and Jerrys and is not fruity flavored, it's the best ice cream flavor ever.

    Yeah, I've never had a B and J I didn't like.

    Dear ____

Please stop using every opportunity where food is the subject of conversation to tell us yet again that you have turned vegan and gluten free, and that you "can't" eat certain foods.

Here's the thing: this makes you no better than me, or the person next to me. At the end of the day, we all poop the same way, ok? Meaning, you're on our level whether you want to admit it. Stop looking for pats on the back, parades and congratulations for being LIKE SO HEALTHY!!!!

Also, gluten-free diets are for those with Celiac's disease. If you do not have such a disease (and I assume you don't since you never mentioned it and claimed you thought you'd "try" being gluten free), then you're doing yourself a disservice.

    Very nice!

I hate to say it, but vegans are often very annoying (everyone who is not vegan is an outsider and less healthy; or worse, mean and heartless).

Is it just me, or is celiac disease almost en vogue? All this gluten-free marketing has to be reactionary.

Online scalpers want $150 - $2,000 per seat. Total farce. I bought a ticket for the Hemispheres tour in 1979 at the show from someone. I got in for $10. Prices have gotten so out of hand. Something is very wrong out there!

Nothing is wrong. Ticket prices are high because artists don't sell records anymore. Of course, there is also the principal of market value...

I just wanted to show off my Geddy Lee and Alex Autograph it's not from the current tour but I purchased it on ebay years ago. It came with a COA and it's awesome. I understand especially from BtLS that Neil is not the type to sign for everyone but it's cool that I have this.

Sorry to tell you, but those are certainly fakes. Not only do they not even resemble their actual autographs, but I am 99% sure those were signed by the same person. Notice the identical upward strokes. Sorry.

  9. The prices are not ridiculous. They are precisely what the market will bear.

The average concertgoer has no clue how much it costs to run a tour like this, let alone overseas.

Instead of whining, why not plan accordingly? There is nothing fans can do about the prices aside from not going (which is unlikely since you wouldn't be on this fan site otherwise).

Go rock out and enjoy the opportunity!

  10. Hi Janie,

Sorry to hear that. That's very disappointing!

As far as those claiming they are auto-signed, that is not true. They're authentic.

And for those that send in more than one item, don't you think that's a bit silly? They have a show to get ready for; it's not a record signing. We should ge grateful they are signing at all.

    Cheers.

  11. I think it's wise to always have your wallet in your front pocket. Debit cards seem an unnecessary risk; even though V/MC ones have the same federal protections as credit cards, it's the"freezing of funds" that can slow down the process. I use credit cards 99% of the time. They're easy, convenient, secure, provide protection, and some even literally pay you to use them.
