  1. I think they'll take a break after this summer regardless, but it is possible that once they're out this year, they'll have more fun than they're anticipating and think 'Hey, why should we quit now? We LOVE doing this!'.

It'll be interesting to hear how Ged addresses the audiences and see the looks on the guys' faces. That may tell a lot as to their feelings about the future.

And I don't think the Stones comparison works since the drumming requirements for Rush are just a tad more intense. :)

Yeah, the Stones are fun, but to comparing their bluesy stuff to Rush's athleticism is ridiculous. Mick is an amazing frontman (if not the best) but their music is far from ambitious.

  2. That picture is enough to give me nightmares. They look like a bunch of beat up scarecrows.

    http://guardianlv.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Mick-Jagger-Struggles-With-L%E2%80%99Wren-Scott-Apparent-Suicide1.jpgwe all age differently...

Really, man? Everyone has unflattering pics. They look good for their age, and I'm sure don't worry about your opinion.

  3. Huh. All those threads about Neil's drum set - where'd they go? It's like they disappeared. Were they removed?

I was going to post that GUMP tweeted this at 9:44pm Saturday night (it's now 10:36pm): "@Lornewheaton: You shouldn't always believe everything you hear. Unless it comes from the source. Which it didn't."

But that is cryptic. He says you "shouldn't always believe..." That doesn't mean it ain't happenin'.

  4. Brokers are here to stay. It's simply the marketplace.

Tickets are more expensive now, but easier to obtain. All you need is a computer and credit card.

For those who lament brokers and fees and the like, imagine taking hours to stand in the cold somewhere in the hopes of getting some kind of good seat. No thanks - I'd rather make coffee and buy at home, Amex in hand, tunes blasting.

  5. Had a conversation with a friend last night over "internet cocktails" (pm's back and forth while having a drink waiting for The Blacklist to come on) And we were talking about the drums.... (both of us were drummers)

We read that they made TWO sets for Neil out of the 1500 year old wood....his "theory" is that they made an "old school" set for the first half of the show (double bass, concert toms, and closed toms) and a "current" set up for the second half of the show (or vice versa...my theory is if they do an older set and a newer set...they do the older stuff the second half since that's more of the classic stuff)

    Now THERE'S an interesting concept!

    You read this? Where?

What? The 1500 year old wood? Google is your friend....

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. I knew about the ancient wood. The 2 sets was what I was questioning, and the application of them in concert.
  6. Yes, it's true. The old school kit will be used for the Cygnus X-1 suite in its entirety. Then the modern kit will take over for the rest of the show, which will feature the albums: Roll the Bones, Counterparts, and Test for Echo (All in their glorious entirety). This will be followed by an encore medley of: The Larger Bowl/The Way the Wind Blows/Good News First.

  8. You're "spending over $150" for a concert ticket, not someone's autograph. They owe you nothing. Don't get me wrong, it's very cool to get a signature, but some abuse it and think they're entitled to it.

Additionally, they get OTHER requests. So two - for free - seems selfish to me. Be glad they do it at all.

  9. Thanks for linking that. I was searching for that thread yesterday and couldn't find it. Hoping Greensboro Coliseum does this. I have one item for sure.

Has anyeone ever sent in multiple items to be signed? I'd like to get Roadshow or Traveling Music signed by Neil

Don't you think sending multiple items is a bit greedy?

  10. Not at all. The problem is the people who actually paid for seats there.

I agree that the problem is people who paid for those seats. They need to lighten up.

I had front row and some dudes poached the space between. They were cool, I could still see. The only guy that was douchey was a security guy who deliberately stood right in front of me to block my view. I flashed my pass and he moved, but it was still a dick move at that point in the show.

I say uou get the first half of the show in peace, but when the lights go down the second time, there's gotta be leeway. It's rock and roll, after all.

Your 'leeway' is another man's douchebag.

Basically you're saying "I'm too cheap to pony for up front, but I'll gladly try and bully, weasel, or mooch my way up there on somebody else's coattails."

Rock and roll has nothing to do with it. You're either a scab, or you're not.

Seat crashers are the worst kind of concert scum. Worse than stage rushers.

I see it in sporting events quite a bit. Of course in Baseball/Football there are often a lot of empty seats, even when sold out.

Empty seats are different. Squeezing in occupied spaces just because of 'hey, it's a concert, relax' mentality (translation: I'm a cheap f**k and I could give a red rat's ass about respecting your place) invites hostility.

Which I'm happy to reciprocate in fashion accordingly if need be. I always feel sorry for the folks who cave and slide over. It ruins the whole show for folks. :(

I don't believe Goose is implying its ok to be rude and steal a seat. I know I would never do such a thing.

I might want to get a closer look but it would be some thing like walking down the aisle and trying to hang out until security said some thing to me.

It's exactly what he's implying. Seen it thousands of times. If it's not general admission, protocol says you stay where you got your seat.

If it's GA, it's no holds barred and you can try and get as close as you want. If it's not GA, you didn't pay to be up close in a reserved seat, so it's not nice to mooch a free view when all the people in that section paid for that view. Furthermore, you're disrupting those paying folks' concert experience by being where you're not supposed to be. It's distracting, and more often than not, it's rude and presumptuous.

Sigh, I just don't get people who think they can have something for free that others had to purchase. And that they'd show so little respect for fellow concert attendees. Testing the bounds of security or fan tolerance is the same thing as: "I don't care about these other people at the show and how I might interfere with their experience, I'm in this for myself."

So, because you're chump that overpaid for a seat, you should control the entire venue, aisles and stage area included. Man, when did RUSH fans turn into such spoiled :pussy: :pussy: .

When I'm up front and people crash, I give them a high five and keep keepin' on. If they block my view, I give them a tap on the shoulder and they move a bit. I can't believe this is such a big deal for you.

Think about your behavior, Goose. No one wants to "control the entire venue". It's about crowding, barging in and not paying your way.

  11. I have mentioned this in a number of other threads...

Many NBA (and to a lesser extent NHL) venues are blocked from this tour because of the timing in the late spring. Venues are contractually obligated to privilege the primary tenant's scheduling needs, including blocking large chunks of dates for the post season. Some of the NBA/NHL cities can work in a date in their host venues here or there in the spring, but the better date flexibility is always in the fall/winter. Most of the cities we are talking about Rush "missing" this tour (Cleveland, Milwaukee, San Antonio) are NBA cities that have been a part of the fall leg of a two leg tour for quite a while. Fall is doable in those arenas. Spring is not.

As for Lincoln, Tulsa, etc. Tulsa is a secondary market for OKC. OKC was likely locked out due to the NBA. Lincoln is a secondary market for Kansas City. Their dates and options had them moving north and/or east, so they likely looked for KC/St. Louis/Little Rock (?) next. St. Louis (note an NHL, but not NBA, city) worked later and they got a venue in St. Paul (note, they are playing the NHL, not NBA, venue in this metro area) just before that, so the next stop after Tulsa would have been potentially Little Rock or KC. Maybe Little Rock didn't work, or maybe the location just wasn't seen as viable, or maybe they just decided KC is closer to St. Paul and makes more sense. KC was probably locked up, but Lincoln (a city with 300K people in its metro and home to a large university on top of its proximity to KC metro) was available. So Lincoln it is. I know for a fact this is the same reason they are playing Austin, rather than San Antonio.

I know. I know. It's hard to believe, but the NBA has more pull than Rush.

Good post. But as I have said in May (NBA Playoffs) they are playing NBA arenas in

Dallas, Houston, New Orleans. June- Chicago, Detroit and Toronto- During the NBA Finals

So why wouldn't those cities take the same actions as you are saying Cleveland, SA, Milwaukee?

Plus NHL arenas in St. Paul, St.Louis, Dallas, Tampa, Columbus, Buffalo, Chicago, Toronto..over 4 rounds of playoffs.

Seems your NBA/NHL argument is a little weak.

For Memphis- It's something completely different. It's a personal disdain for the city.

It's a running joke for people of Memphis. 2 new arenas the last 20 years, NBA team- but Rush..........NO

Last played on the 'Roll the Bones' tour.

I'm convinced someone got mugged, food poisoning or worse in May 1992 there...

9 straight tours - ZERO Memphis concerts.

Maybe Memphis just isn't a hot enough market.
