  1. Here in sunny Syracuse, NY

(it's not often I get to say that)

Hot, continued hot until it cools a bit later this week, then hot for a couple days until it cools again. With some storms scattered about. (I sound like the Weather Channel)

It's a muggy 66F (18.8C), with a forecasted high of an also muggy 86F (31.6C) (80F is hot for me). Not so windy, haven't had much wind for quite some time.

Chance of some severe thunderstorms today (the SPC has us at a slight risk 2% tornado, 30% hail, 30% wind)

Though it will start getting slightly cooler and less humid as the weekend comes.

oh and the average high for this time of year is 72F (22C). The average high in the height of summer is 82F (27.7C), so it's been very hot.

It's been hot and sunny all week. Yesterdays official high was 90F (32C), though I got a 92F as a high. On a side note, my vacation that was a couple weeks ago, it snowed on the first day. angry.gif

  2. Well if the song is true there won't be any guitars in the year 2112. It would be kind of hard to do a concert without one.

So I doubt it will reflect the year 2112, unless they come out in sparkly red jumpsuits, and mime everything.

Oh and there wouldn't be any cars around. I think next Sunday AD is about as far as they will go.

Why do all future visions include sparkly jumpsuits (or some sort of spandex)?

well thanks to this thread im now going to 2 shows this tour, just got tickets in sect. 2 hopefully theyre good seats never been there before. common001.gif

All seats at SPAC are good.

Serious! It's the only venue I would think of driving 3+ hour to get to when they are coming to my town anyways. Many others would agree.

I guess I agree by default.

though I've never been there. though I'm glad to hear that the seats are good there.

Really, Ticketmaster has found new ways to annoy and rip people off. I would be really angry if I wasn't in awe of the fact that they get away with it.

I'm pretty confident they will do a full show at the NYS fair.  The GS there has real seats and is pretty big.  Have had big acts in the past, other than just the country acts.  The fair has another free/GA stage inside the grounds for smaller acts and shorter shows.  It's right by the Gianelli sausage stand -- which I highly recommend!!

...across from the milk building (and between all the TV news setups). Really, that's the main area of the fair (where the main buildings are)

They have had some great shows at the free stage. I usually end up catching one a year.

I never knew how much they paid for the shows there, I never really cared. Rush is the first band that's interested me in a while there.

If I remember correctly the Grandstand can hold about 16,000 people or so. It starts at 8, so 3 hours would be about 11. I think the buses stop running at 11 (the ones that go to park and ride places scattered around CNY). The Fair closes at around midnight, I think (the buildings close at 10, everything else stays open for a while longer).

I doubt the set would have to be modified in any way. Especially since they have been advertising it as "An evening with Rush" like every other show.

Yeah, those Aerosmith tickets are insane. Most shows are $50/60 for the expensive seats.

    Let's see........

The whole band Rush, playing material that they wrote (and are still writing), most of it newer than the Wall, most of it BETTER than the Wall.

    vs

1 washed up guy from a band that hasn't put out any truly relevent music in more than a decade, maybe 2 decades, trying to cash in on past glory, an old album.

I don't know. Let me think about this one.  sarcasm.gif

They actually havent put out anything relevant in over three decades...

I liked The Division Bell...but that was a Watersless Floyd (and it came out in 1994)

    ...

Amused to Death was really good (probably the best Roger Waters solo album), that came out in 1992...so almost 2 decades.

In any event, I don't want to see Waters playing a whole Pink Floyd album unless the other members were there (with the absence of Rick Wright, R.I.P.). It can't be pulled off without the rest of the band. It would be like Alex Lifeson touring 2112 with himself and a touring band.

As big a Pink Floyd fan as I am, I don't want to see it. I would go in an instant if he was doing Amused to Death with a few classic Pink Floyd songs thrown in, like Gilmour did with Gdnansk.

Still, the theatrics will be top notch, it is a Pink Floyd style concert.

I would say Rush, just because the experience isn't complete without the rest of the band. It doesn't matter how big of a wall they build for the show, but it would be hard to top the one in Berlin.

If the remaining members of Pink Floyd joined with Roger, it would be huge (remember Live 8)

  6. 2, as posted down there.

Still haven't gotten anything planned for Saratoga (besides the tickets...I still have a couple months), but the NYS Fair will be the normal Fair thing, head there and walk around for a few hours (one of those hours being in the milk line...though it usually moves pretty swiftly, so it may be closer to 20 minutes...except when I go back in line).

Living so close to the fair makes it boring after the hundredth time (maybe 50th), though the food is always good, and sometimes the free (with price of admission) concert is good. Still nothing else to do around here for those 12 days.

The NYS Fair is about 5 minutes away from me.

quick 1 minute ranking. Only Natural Science is secure in it's spot.

  8. Grandstand seating chart

    http://www.nysfair.org/grandstand

    the pdf seating chart helps.

I think Track is the closest

Elevated Track is next up, and the rest are under the awning.

Maybe the chart in the phonebook will help (just got the new ones last week)

I think B is Geddy's side, D is Alex and C is the center (Neil) (that may be backward, I have a massive headache...can't read right...or left).

I haven't gotten my Grandstand tickets yet, My mom wants to go, my dad may also go, but I need to know before I buy tickets. Otherwise I'd be set.

If I remember from a long time ago (I last saw a concert there 12 years ago), the seats are good at least up until the awning. I was in the elevated track seating....I think

  9. I always thought that they would pull out a cassette, play side A for the first half, then after intermission flip it over for side B.

for the encore they will eat sandwiches while Geddy checks his fantasy baseball, and Alex will mime Geddy the whole time. Neil will do something different each show (probably doodle the whole time).
