You could even interpret an arrow in the middle of the loopI've thought these to be similar as well! A great and underrated album by a fantastic band.
This thread is turning into broadband-only Internet connection...

Thank you, everyone, for the input. And the welcome! My posts are, hopefully, a far cry from what they used to be.

Thank you for reading my post! I'm certainly not the only person with these thoughts and feelings. My adolescent fascination with the band has grown into something slightly less embarrassing than the usual "Greatest Band Ever" sentiment.

Rush Vinyl
in Rush
Collecting used LPs became a hobby of mine about three years ago. I will only buy new LPs from Rush! Vapor Trails, Feedback, Snakes & Arrows, and Moving Pictures: Live all sound terrific on my turntable!
Hunting older Rush LPs is exciting. I've managed to nab each of the studio LPs with the glaring exceptions of Roll The Bones and Counterparts. To my knowledge, Test For Echo was never released as a vinyl record.
I've also managed to acquire some oddball releases. Archives, Hemispheres in picture disc format, and Rush Through Time. I would like to know how the latter made its way to the United States!

For a while, I've felt an urge to express my admiration and respect for Rush through a medium accessible to other people who can relate to the way I feel. I think a post on the first forum I became active on is my best bet!
I've grown up listening to this band and they have remained my favorite with no question. Brief infatuations with similar bands always leave me disappointed because I find myself expecting the players in those bands to have the same modesty, honesty, and genuine character shared among our favorite rock trio. Alas, many do not.
Perhaps it is merely luck that has kept Rush together for nearly four decades, but a more likely cause of their longevity and success is their unwillingness to compromise for financial or personal gain. I believe that Rush has cast forth a model to follow from which every individual can find guidance; Honesty and integrity lead to living, not just existence.
My respect for Rush stems from the words and music that resonate with my soul and the people that create them. Geddy, Alex, and Neil all have given me a role model to improve my quality of character. Although it is certain no entity is perfect, we can try to get closer to that unreachable, yet tangible ideal. As I'm reaching, I know that they are too.
Rush have cemented themselves as my favorite band. They write the music that makes me happy and I am eternally grateful for their place in my heart. Rush is not just a band; they are my favorite band.

Sorry for the poorly-worded question, but CygnusX-1Bk2's advice is what I was looking for.
I'm looking to throw an amateur recording together, and your advice sounds like what I should be doing. Thanks!

QUOTE (tick @ Jun 25 2010, 04:17 PM) You don't post in like 4 years and we don't even get a hey guys, how ya doing? Haha, sorry! I didn't expect to be remembered on here since it's been so long. In case it's not too late...
Hey everyone!

So, for the past few years I've been trying to whip together a good recording rig to capture me and my band on recordable media. I've been looking around to see what would be best for a 4-piece drum set, guitar, bass, and vocal amplifiers spaced in a circle all roughly 2 meters from the center of said circle.
Does anyone have suggestions on how to record this mess arrangements? Equipment needed and arrangements? Any suggestions are welcome.

Hey! Everything's been good, I just can't find the time to ever get online, and this is one of those rare times.

The Catcher In The Rye. It's an amazing book.

I see, thank you all for the advice.

QUOTE (fledgehog @ Aug 25 2006, 10:22 PM) loosen the drumhead?
hold your foot down on the pedal after kicking?
give us more details?I've tried all of those things, the beaters I'm using are the stock DW ones on the DW 4002 double pedal. Say if I put on a head with a hole, would that do anything?
And what I mean by bouncing is that I press the pedal and keep it depressed, and the beater bounces off the head twice or more.
-
My bass drum beater is bouncing off of the drum head. How do I remove the bounce?
-
In Neil's drum solos, he often has the snare turned off at one point in the drum solo. How is it deactivated and reactivated so quickly?

QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Jul 25 2006, 02:50 PM) Here. This is supposed to be funny? Who wrote it, a ten-year old? It adds to Elias' "sheltered, mama's boy" character, I found.

QUOTE (bytor11 @ Jul 24 2006, 08:58 AM) Only odd part was the dance sequence in the parking lot, that could have been cut. Hahaha, I loved how random it was.
-
I found it hilarious, it was well worth the money I spent. I miss the black and white from the original however, which I am a HUGE fan of.
Please, discuss.

Alright, that's what I thought I had to do, well thank you for enlightening me.

All right, I kind of recently got into drumming and here is my kit. I'm not happy with the "color", but it's fine for now.
Pearl Forum Series 5-Piece Kit, Black Carbon
22"x16" bass drum
12"x10" rack tom
13"x11" rack tom
16"x16" floor tom
14"x5.5" snare
18" Pearl crash/ride (useless piece of junk)
14" Sabian B8 Pro hi-hats
16" Zildjian ZHT Fast crash
20" Zildjian ZHT Flat ride
DW 4002 double bass pedals
-
I've been trying to perfect playing YYZ for some time now, but I've never been able to hit the hi hat and make the semi-open sound while making it sound like I'm using both bass pedals, know what I mean? How is it done?
-
I'd have to say Don't Care. It's the only one that stands out for me, the rest are pretty much garbage.
-
This was a very difficult poll. Each of the songs on My Favorite Headache are strong. However, I must say that Home On The Strange stands out for me. My reasoning is that it doesn't sound like Rush from a surface level, but once one truly listens to the song, it's core is Rush.
Well DUH, Geddy Lee is playing and writing the songs.

As useful as this nifty invention.
