  1. As I was going through my pictures from the Nashville show I noticed that Alex’s big bald spot is gone. I guess he got a hair piece. I can’t blame him. I suppose I would too if I were a rock star. Has anyone else noticed this? Has this topic come up before?

My best friend and I noticed this in Orlando as well. He definately had a transplant or has a rug now! lol.

  2. I agree. These pics are in the public domain and are totally OK to look at. If you are paparazzo stalking and taking pics in what should be a private setting that is something else. These are easily found and do not show anything inappropriate. It is not like Geddy put a mask on his kids in public to protect their identities...Nothing wrong with the OPs curiosity. Welcome to the forum, it is always good to have new folks who appreciate the music and talent of RUSH.

I will be driving up from SC.  There are several bars and eateries close to the arena but I am not sure which would be the hangout!  Any Charlotte natives have the scoop?

    Where at from South Carolina?

If you don't mind me asking?

I am driving up from Sumter, SC with my wife. I drag her to at least 1 show per tour! I will also be headed down to the Tampa show to take that in with my best friend of 30 years!

  4. I got my Fan pack yesterday and have had only time to give the CD a 1-time through listen. Overall, sound quality is excellent. Very rich texture, good separation and Geddy's vocals sound great. Geddy is on fire on this album...the bass lines are amazing. Neil is bang on. His drumming feels a little more organic to me and more alive and Alex has continued to some degree the kind of sound he developed on CA...sort of the wall of sound thing that really fills up his space. Solos are very good with a couple of moments of epic greatness. I need to listen a few more times but I think this will be well received by most Rush fans. A very well done album. You can really get the sense that it is meant to be played from beginning to end to hear the "Story". I like it but can see coming to love it in time.

  5. I am not a drummer but I was very impressed with how powerful and full his drums were on this TM Tour. I could really feel it in my chest. I can't remember the last live tour that sounded that good and felt that powerful. Overall though I would vote for the MP kit. Bad ass!

    Here's my suggestion:

    SET 1

    The Spirit Of Radio
    Subdivisions
    Limelight
    Between The Wheels
    Freewill
    New World Man
    Ghost Of A Chance
    YYZ
    Witch Hunt
    Entre Nous
    Vital Signs
    Closer To The Heart

    SET 2

    The Camera Eye
    The Big Money
    Dreamline
    Countdown
    Red Barchetta
    Caravan
    Distant Early Warning
    The Analog Kid
    Afterimage
    2112: Overture /The Temples of Syrinx/Grand Finale
    Tom Sawyer

    ENCORE*

    Working Man
    Fly By Night/In The Mood

*If you're not planning to do an encore, I'd put Working Man just before Tom Sawyer, and FBN/ITM after YYZ.

    Hope this helps! smile.gif

Good set list but Camera Eye shouldn't start off the 2nd set. Move Analog Kid up to start to have a high energy hit kick it off...the rest is great!

  7. This is really sad because VH used to ROCK! The new song is way to tame and please...Kool and the Gang are awesome but that is like having Barry Manilow (hypothetically) open up for Disturbed or Slipknot...you want a high energy ROCK band to open up and get the crowd prepped and ready for the legends...VH to come out. Nobody can match RUSH so no opening act!

  8. I think that some folks are missing the point. Back in the day, Neil would go crazy with the fills etc and that fit the type of music they were experimenting with back then... Now they have evolved away from that and his drumming fits the new music. In the end it is about the whole not just the parts. RUSH is not about showcasing Neil, it is about 3 exceptional musicians in their own right making music together. Each leg of the trio does it's part to make a perfect whole. Neil just has better feel, timing and musicality to add after working with Gruber. If you want a drumming orgasm listen to the solo on ESL or any of the older tracks. Those days have gone... I think he is a better drummer now. That doesn't mean the music is far superior to the old stuff...

On a personal note I would love to see the old kit with the gong and all the chimes come back for this tour!

  9. Complexity does not equal better...Neil has more feeling and a better sense of timing now. Just because something is simple doesn't mean it is not good or an improvement. Complex just means complex... Songs suffer from trying to add too much...too many fills and flourishes when something much simpler fits better. That is where Neil has improved so much. I remember in the past folks would complain that while Neil was certainly a master of his craft, he lacked musicality and tried to force drum parts to work rather than finding the right fill etc... Now he has it right. A great mix of power and feel and the musicality is there! Truely he is now "The Professor"!

  10. With how good they were playing at the end of the TM Tour I think that translated and it is a good thing the album came together fairly quickly. They did have a decent amount of material written so it is not like they were starting from scratch. As for working on an Epic or Classic, RUSH never likes to do the same thing again so this album will not sound like Snakes or MP or any of the others. Steampunk is the theme and for better or worse that is what we are going to get. I for one think it will be a heavier, ballsy record!

    Rock on guys!

  11. I want that bone jarring deep bass pedal sound enhancing the bottom end, keys that fill out the song and the meanest, heaviest guitar that Alex can summon from the depths of steampunk hell, mixed with some tasty and intricate Geddy bass lines and Neil tearing up the skins like his life depends on it. Then and only then will I be satisfied!

    End of Line...
