  1. FOH you are always careful to use the word "tour" when commenting about their lack of a future stage presence. It would be beyond cruel, for a band that "blesses our fans hearts every day" to provide false hope, such as "...I have plenty of ideas that don't involve a full tour" among a multitude of comments lending false hope to a bit of a live future. Which is worse, playing a gig after announcing retirement or providing false hope?

they have earned their retirement and went out on top. They have been legends to me since 1979. A little quick of an exit for such a distinguished career, announce in late January, hey the last time the 3 of us are ever on the east coast again will be in five months, but if that's it, that's it. I think I like the way the Crue is going out, tons of shows, tons of advance notice, definitive retirement announcement.

Yep, Rush, as you know them, won't tour again. The emperor Peart has made that very clear. Obviously they aren't comfortable making such an announcement of finality. I suppose that could be because G&A are holding out hope, but I think that in their hearts, they know what they've had for 40+ years has come to an end. And what a way to go out - at the top of their game!

Haha yeah, Motley Crue is a completely different animal with a whole different business plan. Good crew, good guys, except for Vince. I find him an obnoxious tool. Granted an obnoxious tool with a great voce and stage presence, but still a major dooosh offstage.

  2. FOH, I don't even know who Donovan is. The only Donovan I know sang Mellow Yellow and The Hurdy Gurdy Man.

Like I posted yesterday, there is quite a controversy a-stirring around this picture. Some have said it was taken in March. That is why I am asking the questions I am.

Ahhh, I see - my bad. Donovan Lundstrom is their road manager, right hand man, and nicknamed, Pool Boy.

  3. When was this picture taken? At break? After? I would think they would be surrounded by more people than just the three of them walking down a lonely hallway.

    It is a sad picture.

It's a still from the exit video of the tour.

I saw that video and this picture doesn't look like it is from it. I could be wrong.

That's why I'm asking FOH when it was taken.

I could be wrong, but the fact that no one else is around leads me to believe it was when they were heading out for sound check. If it was when they were heading to the stage for the show, Donovan would have most likely been in front of them.

I think though that it is very deceptive and dishonorable to post a picture like this that is an outtake still from a film and let people think that it is an actual picture taken either before, during, or immediately after the LA show.

I have no reason to believe that D didn't take it when he said he took it. He's just not the type to post BS pictures.

  4. There will be another album. There will be another tour. There may be a week in NY or a week in Vegas. Their last official show will be in Canada. They will market the hell out of it. How many farewell tours were announced by Kiss, Elton, The Who, Cher, and others? Rush didn't even announce it as a farewell tour. There will be farewell tour t shirts and all kinds of hoopla when the time comes. You'll see and you'll remember that I was right.

Sorry, but you don't know Rush as well as you think you do if you believe they'd ever hype a farewell tour just because other bands have done that. Really.

This WAS their farewell tour and there WAS hoopla (in case you missed it). Neil might get talked into scattered appearances down the road, but they will never be done for marketing purposes. He's almost 63 with a family at home and chronic tendonitis. He's never liked having to play live and now he's free of it. He's already rich and can earn enough further income from writing, which is a million times easier than drumming. He's never wanted or needed the spotlight of being a rock star and that's not likely to change as a senior citizen. It sucks for us that we've reached this point, but he's done with being an active member of Rush.

And why do you think you know more than me or anyone else on this board? You know nothing and you certainly don't know who I am, who I know, and what I may know. You can only speculate like the rest of the members here. Time will tell. You will see that I am right.

Well, I don't know you, who you know, or what you know either. But one thing I know for sure is that... Neil will NEVER tour again. And that, my friend, is not speculation. :D

  5. Someone on cygnus-x1 said they heard on planet rock that Rush will be doing some limited European Dates. Anyone confirm this crazy ass rumor?

Heheheh, it's over, my friend. It's time for people to face the reality. Rush, as you know them, will NEVER tour again.

FOH, did Rush and crew have a big farewell party?

They had an after party, I do know that..Farewell no. End of tour yes.

Was it right after the LA show, or did they have one the next day?

Same day..at the Forum. Saw some photos posted on Facebook. I am not an insider.

Must have been quite the bash. I would have loved to have been there sitting quietly in a corner just observing.

I think I posted this somewhere on here but my buddy got into the after party. He saw Neil walking around in a denim jacket. Terry Brown was there. He got his picture with Alex. He saw the Foo Fighter guys. He saw Chad Smith and Paul Rudd. Neil left early of course but everyone else stayed until around 2:30 am.

Oh jeez, Stewart Copeland was also there.

Taylor Hawkins, Kelly McCreary (Grey's anatomy), & Matt Stone were also there, among a LOT of others.

Donovan took this amazing picture on Saturday and captioned it: "One more walk to the stage today..."

Here's what is quickly becoming the "infamous" picture again.

FOH, they said on another thread in another section that this picture is a few months old already.

    You say different.

Can someone get to the bottom of this so we can all sleep peacefully tonight?

IDK why someone would say it's an old picture. Donovan posted it on Saturday 8/1/15.

  7. Neil is a hard dude to read based on facial expression. When I watch him perform, he looks a little glum and scowly to me, but I'm sure that's his focus, not anything like a "resting bitch face" or whatever. In photos he looks pleasant enough - not all-out grinning, but not scowling, either.

In the past, his "scowling" onstage persona often carried through backstage, except, around certain people. While I think the onstage face was a combination of concentration, determination, and perfectionism, the identical scowl took on a more self-defense feel backstage. His thinking is that if he looks miserable, people will be less likely to approach him. And, that's the way he wants it. It's a sound strategy that really works!

I was watching him play What You're Doing on youtube recently, and I found it impossible to fathom what might be going on there. He's not blasting fills into it every 5 seconds like he might have done in the old days - not over-playing it, I guess. But is he thinking "one more tune after this one? One more tune after this one?" and "six more shows after this one?" Then I gave myself a shake and said, "what the hell are you doing trying to speculate about a perfect stranger? Get back to work!|"

YES, that's exactly what he's thinking. Especially on this tour. He literally counts down shows and the closer to the end they get, the happier he is. Every now & then you'll see him & Alex make eye contact and if he's smiling, it usually means one of 'em just mouthed to the other, "5 more", "4 more", etc. I'll be interested to see how that "covert onstage banter" plays out on the final night...

Lorraine, to answer your question (in your heart, you already know this)... NO, no chance. :D

  8. This is such a great Tour. I think its the Tour most RUSH fans have been waiting for. I believe it deserves a second leg. I think it will happen but not in the usual way. I think they will take the rest of the Winter off. Release the live DVD/CD around the holidays then Announce the 2nd leg of the Tour in support of the live album. Then start touring again in April of 2016. I think RUSH fans everywhere deserve to see this tour. Anyway those are my thoughts on it. What do you guys think about it?

    :rush: :rush: :rush:

    :Alex: :Neil: :geddy:

    The emperor Peart has declared:

    http://pop-break.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/TINH_logo_dl.jpg

  9. Is this just ticket sales or does it include the sale of all Rush trinkets too?

I seriously doubt that that includes merch. While talking with "some people" last tour, the subject came up of how much each of them (Geddy, Alex, & Neil) make per show. What I was told is between $250K and $300K.

So, in answer to the other thread question: What are Geddy, Alex, & Neil doing right now? My guess would be... counting piles of cash! :D

  10. Complete speculation on my part, but perhaps it's only Neil who wants to retire and Geddy and Alex don't, and perhaps don't have a plan of what to say or do.

Well I think it was Geddy who said he doesn't want to announce a farewell, so I'm not expecting them too. So why are people on here like FOH Lights, who is supposedly "close to the band", not honoring those specific wishes. Rush want to keep it up in the air for a reason. It's so dumb that anyone can be like: "here's what they are going to do and there is no other way it can go" You just look like an idiot at the point, right?

I can kind of understand your doubt. You're thinking, how can some schmuck on a public forum know/say things that the band themselves isn't, publicly? I've been around a lot this tour and the mindset backstage is one of finality. Geddy & Alex won't come right out and say it (I don't think it's their nature), but everyone knows that this is the end. The Emperor Peart has made it clear that after this tour, he's tapping out for good. And let's face it, without Neil, there is no Rush.

You don't know me so, it's cool if you have your doubts. Time will tell the tale.

Whether you're right or not is kind of irrelevant to the statements in that post.

So when you say they are done, do you mind Rush will never have another album? Also will they never play again as a band again in any capacity? Genuinely curious.

What I've said is that Neil will never tour again. So, "Rush" as you know them, are done touring. Who knows if Geddy & Alex will keep on writing or ever produce anything together? IMO, based on the physical toll that years of playing/touring has had on them, and the fact that they've been enjoying their time off more than ever lately, I can't see them doing anything too big or time consuming, if at all. Traveling with family & friends, and finally enjoying a pressure/worry free life sounds like a lot more fun... don't you think?

  12. So I'm curious have they actually said this is the final tour? Only last tour of this magnitude right? And the interviews have literally avoided stating that these are the final shows. So if Occam's Razor states the answer with the least assumptions is the correct answer than the correct answer is this isn't the end.

I personally have no idea, the world kind of works that way. The fact that anyone in here is saying they know for sure is pretty funny. But hey, when it's anonymous on the internet who cares what you say. Right, Bard?

With logic and basic reasoning of information while using the least amount of assumptions it seems to be no, this isn't the end. But at the end of the day anyone claiming to know anything for certain is probably the least correct.

If you knew what has been happening "behind the scenes", you'd have a very different take on it. This IS the end. Neil will NEVER tour again. Take that to the bank.

  13. Perhaps you should understand that I didn't want to go into an unnecessarily long story just to ask if anyone had any bad spoiler stories. Your judgmental douchbaggery made it into a "thing" that it didn't need to be.

Just because something isn't important to you doesn't mean it's not important.

I can kind of understand how important it was to you, my Friend. What I don't understand is the pointless and immature retaliation, after the fact. If your biggest tragedy that night was that someone said the name of a song before you wanted to hear it, then I want YOUR life. There are bigger things to get upset about.

Further, your continued "douche bag" comments only confirm your level of immaturity. Clearly, you need to grow a thicker skin. At this point, it's probably better just to let this thread die...

  14. Just to clarify, nobody got "bent out of shape" over it. She understood that it was rude to spoil it for us, and understood about the beer. We shared a few after the show. She now understands what "spoilers" are and that it means a lot to a lot of people. We respect each other. Unlike people who use the anonymity of an online forum to be judgmental douchbags

Awe come on, in your OP, what you described (calling her a bitch and stealing the $15 beer she had stashed under her seat) sounds like a douche bag move. Now, if you'd have mentioned all of this in your OP instead of backpedaling 6 days later, maybe there would have been less "judgement". Don't you think?

For the future, perhaps you should understand that when you start a thread on a public forum, chances are, not everyone is going to share your sentiment and will voice their opposing/different opinions. That's what forums are about. As such, getting bent outta shape because you didn't hear what you wanted to hear is rather naive.

  15. Alex is packing for Kansas City while whistling and saying "YES! Only 12 more!"

Neil is packing for Kansas City while whistling and saying "YES! Only 12 more!"

Geddy is packing for Kansas City while brooding and saying "OH NO! Only 12 more!"

    That's very good.

I hope that no matter what they are each thinking, that each one of them, at some level, feel sad. I know I do.

Well, I'm sure that 2 of them are sad. The other one... as happy as the proverbial pig in shite! :D

  16. I've been to 2 shows this tour. I really haven't listened to many on Periscope or Youtube, just been to the live shows. It seems to my ear that they might have tweaked Geddy's mic to 'help' with the high vocals of the second set. Or am I just way out there....?

That I'm aware of, other than the obvious sound board settings, I believe the only other mic "tweaking" that would do what you're implying is auto-tune. Geddy doesn't use auto-tune.

So, to answer your question, YES, you're just way out there! :D

  17. Who is the better violinist : Ben Mink or JD?

    Who played Losing it better?

I think JD did a better job....he seems more into it, younger, bigger fan, probably practiced it more too. I really don't know who the better violinist is but JD probably plays it more...

    Well, Audry Solomon, of course!

    hotpants.jpg

Oh wait, she wasn't one of the choices. Even still, I stand by my statement!

I'd take Adele Stein over her but she is a fine player too... :) Oops my bad. She plays cello...

Haha, I met them both last tour and being a big fan of petite women with great butts & tight pants, I stand by my choice! :D

  19. Like a lot of people, I try to avoid setlist as much as possible, almost never 100% though. I remember at the Snakes and Arrows tour, I knew a little (more than I wanted) and my brother knew nothing, so I was excited how he would react to the surprises. We were in our seats talking with some people in front of us before the show and this chick was about to go into the setlist. I jumped in and BEGGED her not to say anything.

    Guess what the bitch did

You guessed right. She blurted out Entre Nous. I never wanted to give someone a roundhouse kick to the face more in my life. We made up for it by snagging a $15 beer she had stashed under her seat.

    Any other bad spoiler stories?

Seriously? You got PO'd and retaliated by stealing her beer because some "bitch" near you said the name of a song?? I'm sorry, but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that the term "class act" has never been used to describe you...

  20. I bet it's gonna be quite emotional for Geddy when he says goodnight on August 1st.

Believe it or not, there's already a TON of emotion in the Rush camp. I mean, you don't work, party, squabble, and tour with people for 40+ years, without developing some kind of feelings about it all - whether good or bad. The differences in attitudes/emotions backstage are pretty big. Neil is riding high and short of a little complaining about cutting his video right after a certain stick toss, he's never been happier. Geddy & Alex are kinda like the "parents", keeping on brave faces for sake of the family. There's even more mixed emotion with the crew. Some happy, some taking it in stride, and yes, some even have a little animosity.

There is NO doubt that the final loadout and traditional end-of-tour party will be deeply emotional for everyone.

  21. To all who are holding out hope for more tour dates either in the US or abroad, now, or anytime in the future - IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. Stop torturing yourselves and accept it. Howard knows it and tells it like it is. Geddy & Alex, for some reason, don't want to come right out and say it, but in their hearts, they know it's true. The Emperor, I mean... Neil, will NEVER make a formal announcement about it, but this is it for him, forever.

Only problem is that Al explicitly said that he's open to short tours and limited performing.

Hehehe, of course HE'S open to short tours. The problem is, who are they gonna find to play drums!? :D

  23. I talked to Howard U. In Atlanta. He said what is scheduled is it. No more dates will be added anywhere including Europe. I hope they do add more. They missed Nashville and Charlotte and that seems strange.

Could that be because it was a hastily put together tou,r and Neilm, or whoever, insisted they tour THIS summer so the venues in Nashville, Charlotte and some other major cities weren't available?

I'm not saying this is right, but it's just a thought that crossed my mind.

I doubt that would be the strategy. My feeling is that there was a limited number of shows they wanted to do and the rest is up to the promoters to figure out where they would be. Alex talks in an interview before the tour started of trying to do something for Cleveland, as it turned out it didn't work in the plans. I'm still hanging on to hope that a few more dates in N. America will be added but it's getting less likely now at this late time in the schedule.

During the planning stages, King Neil gave the OK for only a certain number of shows - take it or leave it, it didn't really matter to him. That number will NOT change and I seriously doubt that any future "one off" shows will take place either. He has been ready to tap out for years now and his dream is finally coming to fruition. See 'em now or never see 'em again...
