I suggest you listen to "Bass Player Tribute" by Victor Wooten. It is his version of the greatest bass player list. He should be on all top bass player lists, just below Jaco.

I take issue with Bob Daisley, Ross Valory, Jason Newstead, Mike Rutherford, Mike Levine and Greg Lake. These guys are good, but average at best.

What about Bootsy Collins, Stanley Clarke, Les Claypool, or even Brian Wilson?

Ya, you can't leave Les Claypool off the list!!! 1022.gif

Also Billy Sheehan. That guy is whack!

  2. I saw Earl on Saturday night live a couple weeks ago and he is one funny guy!! I never saw his show but I should because if his show is as funny as he was on SNL then it's probably a great show. It's on tonight so I will try to watch it.
  3. Sounds like my kind of show. Larry is a comedy genius I think. I never seen this but I think all the different stories they had in Seinfeld in a 30 minute show and how they connected it all together was so awesome. Sometimes I wondered, "How do they come up with this shit"!!! laugh.gif

    Fear

So the triology of fear has 4 parts so I guess it's not called the trilogy of fear anymore because it should be called Quadilogy or something like that lol. cool10.gif
  4. When I was in Tongue-n-Groove we was playing a gig and there was this fine little lady that came to a lot of our gigs and I asked her if she wanted to go out and eat with the band and some friends after the show and then go back to the drummers house for our after show party. She was the cutest girl in the area so I was STOKED.

After the show we went and sit at the bar and the owner told us we could drink anything we wanted and we could leave our gear at the bar because we also played the next night so we sat around and did some shots of Yeggermeister(sp?)......I got carried away and drank a few too many then once the bar closed we went to the waffle house to eat some grub. We sat down to order and I ordered the biggest breakfast they had. Before it came I told everyone I had to go to the bathroom. I really had to go somewhere because I was about to puke and I was dizzy as hell. Instead of going to the bathroom I walked through the kitchen and walked out of the back door of the waffle house. I got sick by the dumpster and the owner came out and told me I can't lay out back and I needed to go home and sleep or something. The singer got worried because I was in the bathroom too long so he went in there to get me and he couldnt find me. The people working said I went through the kitchen and was laying out back and they were going to call the cops on me and he told them not to and he walked me to the van so I could lay down as they finished eating.

As soon as he walked away I got out of the van and laid down right in the parking lot, he said I was laying as if I was in bed or something, all comfy with my hands under my head. He went out to check on me again and saw me laying in the parking lot and he helped me back to the van. Again I got out and laid in the parking lot right where the cars pulled in so he told me if I didn't stay in the van they were gonna call the cops on me. After everyone got done eating they took some pictures of me laying there because they thought it was funny. We went back to the drummers house and I didnt feel much like partying anymore because I was sick so I laid outside in his grass the rest of the night, they took some more pics of me laying there like a drunkin idiot. I felt like an idiot, I could have been having a good time partying and mackin on a super hotty but instead I made a fool of myself by being a drunk idiot. I blew it lol. Oh well. Free shots aren't always a good thing. no.gif trink38.gif

I'm not sure if the Steelers thread is the proper place to cry because your broncos got beat by the chiefs today.

    KC 31

    BRONCOS 27

Chet Atkins smokes a lot of those mentioned IMO. Unless we are just talking about great rock guitarists only. Good list though, can't argue with most picks, maybe not the order they are in or anything but they all are great as far as I am concerned.

As far as Kurt Cobain being an overrated guitar player, I don't know too many who rate him very high as a guitar player so I don't see him as being an overrated guitar player. He's a great song writer though. His guitar playing is very limited but he did what it took to get his point across.

Rolling Stone voted Cobain #10 for greatest guitarist. Blackmore was neutured as far as guitar playing goes after disbanding Rainbow in 1996.

Also, the Rolling stones picked Jack White of the White Stripes as #17 on the top 100 guitarist list. So I don't have a lot of faith in anything they say. I wouldn't let them sway my decision on who is overrated by anything they say. I bet you could go out on the streets and ask 10,000 people who the top 20 guitar players are and if more than 1 person said Jack White I would be surprized.

Also, Rolling stones picked Joey Ramone as #16 best guitar player of all time. I mean, Joey is a cool guy and he's a punk god and everything but #16? LOL

I think the Rolling Stones top 100 list is a joke. I see a lot of great guitarists named on this thread, some very nice picks. None which I would laugh at (well one pick I chuckled a little bit) but when I read the Rolling Stones list I laughed several times and wondered who the hell comes up with that shit. It doesn't come close to reflecting a true rating according to music fans around the world.

For the reord, I don't think Kurt Cobain was all that great on guitar but he is probably at least as good as Joey Ramone and Jack White. According to the Rolling Stones list I would say 25% of it is overrated guitar players according to their rating lol.

(though whenever I hear Yngwie, I don't know exactly what it was that I just heard, but it sounds cool).

Clasical scales turned up on 11, real fast. More times than not he is ripping in a harmonic minor scale. That's usually what you are hearing. laugh.gif

Time again for my ever so accurate, world famous much anticipated weekly Steelers prediction.

Again, I think it will be a close game. Matter of fact, I predict an overtime victory by the Steelers.

    Steelers 24
    Bengals 21

EXTRA EXTRA: An extra prediction............. I think Big Ben will have one of his highest passing games to date with 298 yards and 3 TD's.

Thats a pretty bold prediction considering his injured thumb on his throwing hand wink.gif .......

I predict an apperance from Mr. XFL hahahaha na just playin who knows it will be a great game to watch either way

Well, I was right about Big Ben and him having his biggest yardage game ever but 3 INT's is no way to win games. I would rather him have 10 yards and the Steelers win but oh well, you can't win them all.

    B. Roethlisberger 386 yards passing

Congrats Bengals on winning the Division. You are clearly the best team in the division this year. Once the Steelers are officially out of it then I will be pulling for the Bengals in the playoffs to represent the division. Good luck!! I don't know if the colts can be beat this year though but that's why they play the games every week because in the NFL you never know what's going to happen week to week.

Good luck in the playoffs. trink39.gif

  9. I always liked watching Tim Alexander from Primus play. I am not sure how he rates as far as top drummers or anything, I am sure theres a lot better. But he sure keeps me rocking everytime I've seen Primus play. There's so many great drummers it's hard to choose. I also always thought Sean Kinney from Alice N Chains played some pretty tasty drums. I doubt either one of these guys are considered the best or anything but they are some of the drummers I enjoy watching play. I figured all the obvious drummers will be listed by everyone else.

    Anyway, isn't it Emppu Vuorinen?

Something like that. I'm not Finnish so I wouldn't be able to tell you how he spells his nickname.

My bad, I'm just guessing. You mean thats a made up name? That's heavy metal!!!!
