This is utter bullshit! You try and do what Angus does and we'll see who sucks. After only reading the first page, I see a lot I agree with. Nugent, Joe Perry, Santana... all over-rated. (I also agree that the likes of Cobain and Garcia aren't great guitarists, but I wouldn't call them "over-rated" because - generally speaking - people don't rate them highly to begin with!)
My pick is Angus Young. Not only is he NOT a guitar god, he actually SUCKS. There are probably amateurs in your hometown, kids who've only been playing for a couple years, who can play better.

Meh, after Hillel Slovak died they became a different band that I didn't really like. Mother's Milk was ok and Blood, Sugar was pretty good too, but everything after that is just boring and lame to me.
-
Still like it and put it on every now and then.

:rfl: He's such a douchebag- I love it! On a side note, I met him over 20 years ago and he was pretty cool to me.
Too many notes!Malmsteen simply doesn't get that you don't have to show everything you have in every song.
When ever I have heard Malmsteen, I just hear notes. I don't hear music. :(
Ya way too many! I just listened to the "dream on" video in this thread and the way he starts shredding right at the beginning during that intro.. Does he even hear the song?? Lol
Reminds me of this..

Yup, Testament has some good songs, but I never could get into them. Overkill always gets shafted though.I might get killed for this, but I've always thought testament were a little overrated - good band for sure, but they always sounded like a 2nd-rate metallica to me. I wouldn't put them in the big 4 by any means

:cheers:SLAYER!!!!! Not jumping on the bandwagon just because of Jeff Hanneman's death, I've always thought they were the best out of the 4.
Easily. And I know you're not.

What? You hardly hear anything of Hagar's playing. If anything he's underrated- not a guitar god, but the man can play.Sammy Hagar, he is definately overrated

One of the best tunes period! This was terrible news. I wasn't giant Slayer fan but back in my High School days I got into them for a few years and Seasons in the Abyss is still a great album.
Oh and also,
The Angel of Death guitar riff in the middle is the most killer riff in all metal IMO.

Well said. The way he referred to Jeff, "C'mon this guy played in Slayer!" makes it sound like John Dette (mid-90s interrim drummer) just died. Not to say one human life is more important than another, but f—k! He totally downplays the relevance and magnitude of this tragedy. Slayer's glaringly best song writer is dead. Even if Jeff was too zonked out to record the rhythms on the last 2 albums, Hanneman still wrote his share, and the very best from every album are typically his. Zonked out? Yeah, I think this cat checked out years ago. His live performance was weak in the 00's—he didn't play with the live precision like he used to. Tom and Kerry, before his death, both alluded that if Jeff took better care of himself, his recovery would be speedier. Liver failure, reclusive ways—its not hard to put this one together. Its just sad. I finally listened to, no BLASTED Slayer today on the freeway. Metal will never be the same.

Thanks to my buds Steevo and metaldad for coming to my defense. Geez, some of you guys need to lighten up.

Any Slayer fan knows Jeff was the better guitarist and songwriter. it should've been that ego maniacal prick Kerry King who died! Just finished watching the very shitty Revolver Golden God's Awards and Kerry didn't seem too bothered by Jeff's passing. Just proves what I've always said- he's a fukking asshole who doesn't care about anyone but himself! The last few albums have pretty much been King solo albums anyways and they've been pure shit! RIP Jeff

Like Hitchcock, if a film maker remakes his own film it doesn't count. The same Carpenter kinda "remade" it himself with the not so very good "Escape from LA", didn't he?
-
You're too old fat man......and your tits are too bigHis name is Robert Paulson.
-
WRONG!!!! No Carpenter film needs to be remade- they're perfect the way they are. They're remaking the wrong Carpenter movies. Universal should remake Prince Of Darkness and They Live.
Oh, and a BTILC sequel would be a nice project to start on Kickstarter, that site that helped Veronica Mars get a movie. Hey, if Tango can play Rambo and Rocky in his 60s, Cash can definitely play Jack Burton again. It's all in the reflexes.

But that was different, Hitch remaking his own film doesan't count in my book.
Re-makes have been going on for as long as the film industry had existed. Hitchcock even re-made his own film, the Man Who Knew Too Much. Why does any film get remade/rebooted? Film producers have run out of ideas.
Can anyone think of any re-makes in recent years that didn't suck?

You've got to be kidding! Ghost butt plugs and dildos? This is ridiculous, but they did beat Gene Simmons to it!

Candy was a pretty big hit from that album. Kate Pierson from the B-52's sang on it.I've heard of everything else he's done, but I didn't know about that one. Will have to investigate.

Home boy, home boy, everybody needs a home boy. Good album from the godfather of punk. Not his best, but still some good stuff.
