Carnies by far. That's one of the meanest lines he has ever played. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to come across well live.

Oh, and the solo from the Anarchist is just beyond great (along with basically every other part of that song)

Yeah I thought the same thing. He doesn't seem to try to get the pinch harmonic thing goin' on stage. Takes quite a bit away from the riff.

If it makes you fee any better, I didn't get home til 3 in the morning yesterday because I was stuck trying to figure out why my VCenter update failed and hosed my hole management environment at work.    Technology is a pain in the ass sometimes.

What type of holes do you manage?

That sounds like a hint if nothing else...

I wasn't looking forward to losing my old fave standby original skin, so at least I get that for a little while longer.

Care to give us any hints on what the new board will hold in store for us?

I was thinking of making a skin similar to the original skin, for old times sake. I'll try it if I have time.

I can tell you the new skins will be very clean and easy on the eyes.

I like the simplicity of the blue/grey skin. The color scheme is also very easy on the eyes. smile.gif Anything similar to that is great.

RushIslander - which row? Just Hopi g you weren't one the 2 guys I poked fun at! Lol.

I was in row 6, seat 7...I had a red baseball hat on and was in full Rush spaz~mode. Nothing over the top though as I remained seated.

I don't care about being mocked, but getting pelted with whatever that was, was a little ridiculous. After the second time, I just turned around and gave a general "hell YEAH!!!" response to most behind me. That seemed to end the attack...or their aim fell short by then, LOL! I could tell it wasn't from far behind me where the ballistic assault was launched.

It is what it is, and whatever...I had a blast. GREAT SHOW!!!

On a side note...I drove in from Long Island, and decided to go through Manhattan. Took the Williamsburg Bridge through Delancy St. to the Holland Tunnel...took about an HOUR and a half to get across Gotham City! Total grid~lock! Got to The Rock for enough time to grab one beer and a bight to eat then find my seat...then the house lights went dark before our "silent movie" into Subdivisions, LOL!

    Shoulda took the Cross Bronx...

At least your assailants were right behind you laugh.gif My father and I kept getting pelted with ice cubes and beer cups in Bridgeport from the mezzanine thing above us. Shot a couple of middle-finger/f**k-yous up there but why would that end the barrage of projectiles we were receiving?

We, too, were sitting down most of the show. We enjoy kicking back and taking in the show like gentlemen. http://ma1.twimg.com/profile_images/2626935547/ru0s04127otvbz6n761s_normal.jpeg

I don't know if that was the reason for the attack or if they were just morons. (They were morons regardless)...

Rock on buddy! My first Rush show was the August after I graduated high school (07, I'm still a baby too!)- talk about a present! Hope they stick around for a while so you can rock more. 2.gif

Same here. Graduated in 2007 and my first show was the July afterward. trink39.gif

  6. QUOTE (Tick @ Oct 12 2012, 10:06 AM)
A few have said, that's why they get to a show early. I really thought being at the venue exit an hour before the show is early enough to get off the exit and park. An hour and 20 minutes to move about a half mile is really a travesty.

Hey man, sorry I didn't get you see you while up here. Maybe next time. trink39.gif

  7. QUOTE (HalfwayToGone @ Oct 12 2012, 09:14 AM)
95 thru CT is the only road I ever sat in traffic without moving for 2 hours between 3AM and 5AM on a Sunday morning (after playing a show in Stamford). My brother was stuck in exactly the same spot 10 years later for nearly 8 hours overnight while on tour--they literally fell asleep for 4 hours and woke up, and traffic hadn't moved one inch. The entire drive back to NJ is usually only an hour or may two in "normal traffic." There is nothing normal about the traffic or the drivers in CT, especially on 95. In fact when driving in NJ and I see someone with out of state plates driving slowly in the left lane or making a crazy random lane change to block me from passing them when no one is in front of them in their lane, it is usually someone from PA, CT or Mass. Sorry if anyone from those states are offended, and certainly NJ has its share of terrible drivers and traffic jams too, but usually only during commuter traffic or NY drivers headed to and from the beaches in the summer on weekends.

I have only missed the start of a Rush show twice--once at Nassau Colliseum on RTB tour--LIE is another parking lot I avoid like the plague, so I usually pass on anything at Jones Beach or Nassau--we only missed almost all of Primus (who we wanted to see almost as much as Rush). The other was at MSG same night we met the band in '94, but that was because the friends I was with (who were getting us into the after-show party) waited til the last second to leave and try to take a cab thru the busiest part of NYC, and of course we got caught in gridlock. We missed TSOR and maybe part of the next song. Talking to Geddy and Alex later w/free alcohol and food more than made up for it.

Funny, because when someone drives like that around here, they are typically from NJ or MA (85% of the time they are from Mass.) But they are also from CT at times. We all kind of suck in the northeast laugh.gif

I live in Kentucky now, and I had to get used to a whole new breed of dumb drivers. Ones that never stop at stop signs, or yield properly. They don't know how to leave gaps on the highway (and a lot of times, purposefully run you off the road). One thing I have to say about KY drivers is this...they actually obey the speed limits. I guess because the speed limits are rarely under 45 laugh.gif

  8. QUOTE (ClassicB @ Oct 11 2012, 01:44 PM)
I drive New England for my job and this was the ONLY reason I didn't make the drive down to Bridgeport (from Mass.) to see RUSH. I dread driving anywhere in the state of CT just for the sole reason of TRAFFIC! I've never been in a state where there are too many cars for the types of roads in CT.

Most of CT is actually pretty good. However, Bridgeport does not fall into that category laugh.gif

Nor does most of southern CT... unsure.gif

The boys have 10 days off.  What are the chances that when they pick back up, they'll have decided to do away with the alternating A/B sets and go with a static set list with what they feel is the best combination of the two?

    I'm hoping for this:

    Set 1:

    Subdivsions

    The Big Money

    Force 10

    Grand Design

    Middletown Dreams

    Territories

    Analog Kid

    The Body Electric

    Where's My Thing?

    Far Cry

    Set 2:

    Caravan

    Clockwork Angels

    The Anarchist

    Carnies

    The Wreckers

    Headlong Flight

    Halo Effect

    Seven Cities of Gold

    The Garden

    Manhattan Project

    The Percussor (Drum Solo)

    Red Sector A

    YYZ

    The Spirit of Radio

    Encore

    Tom Sawyer

    2112 (Overture/Temples/ Finale)

And if by any chance they could find the way to include Losing It after The Garden...Whoohoo!

  11. QUOTE (Mara @ Jan 12 2012, 02:33 PM)
I do love the stuff, but the price makes it a rare purchase. (Regular low-sugar low-fat yogurt is less than 1/2 the price of the branded Greek yogurts).

The thing about Greek yogurt is that whereas its more expensive, it has a LOT more protein in it, so you don't have to eat as much of it to get all the nutrition out of it. It's also more expensive because it takes 4 times more milk to make it than regular yogurt. It's health benefits are ultimately superior and I don't really eat regular yogurt anymore. smile.gif Not delicious enough anymore.

  12. Re: Geddy's voice live.

I was thinking about this last night, as I was listening to a part of the St Louis bootleg (the show I went to). When at the concert, his voice sounded very good, and I WAS listening to the quality of his singing, trying to hear what I would normally hear on a boot. However, only a few little flats and sharps stood out. He still sounded powerful and just plain bitchin! 1022.gif

Then listening to the bootleg I heard nothing but a warbly old man yelping at the crowd like a 12 year old hound with a busted leg. My thoughts are that the problem isn't with his voice, but the quality of these audience-based ROIOs. Their microphones are working their asses off to pick out all the deliciousness radiating through the room but they only seem to accentuate the extreme highs (yelping) in his voice. Makes for a nauseating listen. I have no problem with his yelping noises, his voice just does that. But when you make it so that you're hearing those noises over everything else, it sounds like crap. In person it really doesn't take from the music. It's just the Gedmeister singing with a different style than he did 30 years ago.

It really is only on bootleg recordings when I have a problem listening to Geddy sing. Otherwise, it's gold.

I love the way it sounds as is. Gritty and rough side to Rush, hell ya. 1022.gif

It's the exact worst kind of "gritty and rough" possible. It's like the Platonic ideal of terrible production.

Every time I put on Vapor Trails, it makes me wish that I could somehow listen to the music and wear earplugs at the same time.

Hey that's exactly how I feel! I can't listen to it with any volume at all. Only on lightly in the background.
