  1. QUOTE (theradocaster @ Jun 18 2012, 12:32 AM)
Thanks for the responses everyone! Just wanted to chime in again, especially about the second guitar solo. When we listened back to the video, we all cringed at that part. The monitors on stage we giving us nothing that night. We were doing the best we could to stick together without really being able to hear one another that well. We were going by what the drummer was doing. But we gave it our all though!

Are you kidding me? I'm envious of you guys!

You got a great life ahead of you playing great music and knowing that you challenged yourself instead of going up there to play a Lady Gaga tune

    Congrats!

    Candlebox no question.

Still love that band....they have made 5 great records. And I have become personal friends with the band over the past few years. Great guys, great players and songwriters.

See them live if they come to your town. They put on a hell of a show.

They are incredible live. Just them in Tampa and Orlando a month or so ago. I think Kevin Martin is one of the best frontmen in the business and Peter Klett is a BAMF

I believe Neil has also referred to himself as a left leaning libertarian. Those I know who identify themselves that way seem to be mostly people who just want to legalize drugs and prostitution. However, if you ask them about complex issues like taxes and gun control their ideas about freedom sometimes get a little murky.

But identifying as a bleeding heart libertarian could be a way to distance oneself from some of the more extreme and nonhumanitarian aspects of libertarianism. Sadly, some people in the party seem to have no empathy and are unapologetic while others are very naive and idealistic. It's hard to be a balanced person and a libertarian, I think.

Before this gets moved to SOCN...

A common misconception about libertarians and conservatives, is this notion that we don't care about the poor and sick etc. This myth (lie actually) is perpetuated by various people for political reasons.

The reality is we care a lot about those people. We just don;t think its the governments job to take care of them. It's our job as a society of charity, family and freinds.

That system has worked fine for centuries, now EVERYTHING is the governements job. 062802puke_prv.gif

    1981 Moving Pictures
    Hollywood Sportatorium, Hollywood, FL

Got tear gassed and crushed against a chain link fence in a muddy melee' with cops. I was 18.

Worst concert arena ever. We called it the "Distortatorium"

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollywood_Sportatorium

A good friend of mine was at that show. The opening act was "Riot" which was fitting because there almost was a riot with Neil being hours late (recounted in one of his books too) and then the police tear gassing....

I saw a HYF show at the Sportatorium.

wasn't that at Miami Arena? I could have sworn that was when Candlebox opened for them

Don't get me wrong, it's a good album... and it blows away S&A (which isn't hard to do). But I'm just feeling a bit underwhelmed. Maybe I expected too much... maybe it was all the anticipation. I also feel like the 3 singles we got to hear ahead of time are the main highlights of the album, so everything else is just "meh". I don't know... maybe I need to give it more time.

Ive listened to it a few times now and have a couple of the tunes staying with me.

I'm now burdened with the realization that they have cut and pasted the chorus arrangements for the past 10 years.

So many people are leaning towards The Garden and personally I love it. And the reason is its melodic and original.

as for the rest of the album I agree. meh.

  6. Based on the recommendations here (and elsewhere), I went to see The Wall live last night here in Orlando. Amazing show. Truly.

The performance revealed so much meaning that Ive never really fully understood and opened my eyes. All I can was WOW.

Its' amazing that I realized 90% of this album has been played on the radio. There was only one or two song I was not familiar with.

The visuals were incredible. The audio mix was like nothing Ive ever heard. Every band should have engineers like these guys.

BTW, we bought cheap seat tickets a couple hours before the show. The entire upper deck had not been available until the day of the show (prolly 4,000 seats), but they all sold out. arena was full. Sell Out.

    GO SEE THIS SHOW

  7. So I've picked up the guitar again after a 15 year hiatus.

So far I've learned Going to California, Tangerine, Hey Hey What Can I DO, and Cover Me (by Candlebox) to name a few (some eagles and other stuff).

But the question is what RUSH tunes can I begin to work on? My favorite Broon's Bane has proven difficult.

Can you guys recommend any songs that I might try with some basic chord progressions and/or picking? I know, a tough request.

    Thanks in advance!

BTW, Playing a Martin DX1 and not so good at bar chords yet
