  1. about two years ago, about a month after dragging my wife and eager teenage boys to TMT, I wore my concert T to the mall Christmas shopping.

Sitting in the food court, a couple 18 yo kids come and start talking about RUSH and the show, my wife was rolling her eyes and when they walked away, she said something to the effect of "Well, that's nice honey, you made some little friends, teenage degenerate stoners." wacko.gif

Then, literally 20 minutes later we were throwing away $75 at TEAVANA for some overpriced teas and cups and shit, and the lady waiting on us was about 55 yo I'd say. Looked like my mom laugh.gif (I'm 48 btw). after the sale she says, "I love RUSH, favorite all-time band, DId you go to the West Palm or Tampa show?"

I was floored. My wife got this "really?" look on her face and we started talking about the concert. This lady was as big o' fan as me. Knew everything. It was awesome. I left there on cloud nine. I said "Wow, I made lots of new friends today!" and some RUSH is universally loved statements.

This is all I got from her

    -_-

    I was beaming!! 653.gif

  2. I lost my mom a year ago to liver cancer. And I know how you feel.

There are a few songs that remind me of her, though TG is not one of them. I would however love to have it played at my memorial in another 40 years as it has so much reflective meaning to it.

    Bless you buddy! sad.gif

this thread brings up memories from 'back in the day' when we used to camp out over night for every big show. What a party that used to be! cool10.gif trink39.gif

But back to scalpers...they used to have in wait in line just like us. They would pay a couple of bums, uh, homeless, uh disadvantaged citizens to wait in line all over town and buy hand fulls of tickets.

Sometimes the brokers would show up at 5 minutes to 10 hand the guys a six pack and a $20 bill. But man we had the fastest Ticketmaster outlet in town! Always get awesome seats!

The day the CA album came out Iand when I first heard The Garden, I cried my eyes out....That song just did me in...The same happens in Bravado sometimes....

To me The Gardne just reflect my life of getting older ...I have a huge Garden in my back yard that I tend to and nurture as much as I can...I have measured my life thru love and respect before and it is so hard to earn and its easily burned. The hours continue to tick away and the cells too....The Watchmaker (God to me anyhow) still has time up his sleeve for me....My future every day disappears into memory with moments (days) between....to my its just about growing up aging you know It is what it is and forever...its just a very very very well put together piece of song that touches me and others too so it seems

Tears has done the same in past years not in a long time...

The Pass has gotten to me before as well.....Growing up into becoming an adult "Nothings what I tought it would be"

anyhow...Yes The Garden does get me in a Trance too

    see you guys in Indy?

    Let me know whos going

    fists crying.gif

    I'm with you bro

I just can not (emotionally) get over this song. It has got to be one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. These guys truly created a masterpiece that I hope they play live...NEXT SATURDAY smile.gif

Is anyone else still in "The Garden Trance"?

    yes.gif

Love this underrated buddy cop movie. That awful DeNiro/Murphy movie,Showtime, ripped this plot off 11 years later.

"Not if you tied my toung to your tail-pipe and drove me eighty miles-an-hour naked across a field of broken glass!" rofl3.gif

YES! There's a scene where James Woods shows about a dozen emotions in like 15 seconds! Amazing! Loved this movie.

I also thought it to be a very good show. I know the new songs are all linked together in meaning, but playing them all together for people who have never heard the album I am not sure is a good idea. Its not moving pictures. It slows the crowd response. Maybe they should play them at the end of the first set.

That's how I anticipated this show...start with a hit, follow up with a couple deeper tracks then launch into CA and finish a 6-7 song run with the Garden.

2nd set a tour de force of RUSH classics. 1 killer from nearly every album

Well over 80% are happy with the setlists if you look at the polls.
So, your figures are off a bit.

If you don't like what the band has chosen to play on this tour then just don't go. Nobody will miss you.

If you look at the polls here...from a bunch us rush geeks that like just about anything they do on stage (like farting into a mic). rofl3.gif then yes.gif

Guarantee if you poll everyone walking out of the arena after the show you'll get a lot of no.gif expressions.

I personally love the setlist choices. great changes for the most part.

The OP has a point tho

  9. Alex hands down...

Id want to know if he uses charcoal or propane,

does he like yellow or spicy mustard on a roast beef sandwich,

id want to know when i could hook up with him at the Orbit Room and have a few drinks and just shoot the sh!t.

Id ask him if he plays with steel or graphite shafts

I'd let him know that I use charcoal and could whip him up a kick ass ribeye next saturday, he would have to bring the wine.

95% of the time when I have the radio on, I'm listening to RUSH. My 2 kids (4.5 and 6.5 years old) ask for songs by name every time they get in car with me. Some of their favorites: Passage to Bangkok (my train crazy kids all it Train Going to Bangkok), Closer to the Heart, Cindirella Man, Xanadu, The Garden. My older one (the boy) does not like it loud, but my younger daughter keeps saying LOUDER every time we are alone in the car. I have a kick-ass stereo in my car (any other way to listen to the boys?!?).

I have tickets to go with friends to the NJ show on 10/20, and ever since my kids found out, my daughter has said she wants to go. I've talked to the wife about me taking my little girl to the 10/22 in Brooklyn, and she has not said no....

Now, is she too young? I have seen plenty of kids at shows in recent years, but none as young as my little girl. I'm sure she wouldn't last the entire show (her betdtime is 8 pm), so it would kill me to leave the show early, but I'm willing to do it. I also know it will be a battle to put earplugs in her ears.

I should also mention, driving to Brooklyn is at least 1:20 minutes from my house.

What do you all think? yes.gif no.gif

    too young...

I too brought my kids to a show at young ages and as much as they enjoy what daddy likes,

they are too short to see

    the music is too loud

they get bored (can your kids do ANYTHING for 3 hours now)

and its way too late for them to be out (at least it was for mine)

    my $.02
