Do you remember the first time you heard the trubulent sounds of the band?
Tom Sawyer
When spooning with your lover, what Rush song do you play?
I don't. ;)
What's song makes you want to run away from the stereo?
Dog Years

If you feel like hearing me getting interviewed about Rush, go here:
https://soundcloud.com/423radio/sftl-66-rush-40-for-40-super-fan-series-kelly-paris
There are other fans who have been interviewed and there will be more. They last around 45 minutes or so.
My only thing is that I do ramble and get off subject sometimes unfortunately.

Yeah, i could have added more. You can see I didn't listen to too much hard rock back then except for a few bands.

4. Talk Talk - "It's My Life" (1984)
5. Thompson Twins - "If you were Here" (1984)

Sometimes pure rock and roll is good! Sometimes thoughtful progressive music is good too! I usually prefer the latter but do like the former at times.

At the time, I liked "Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park". I had to get permission to watch it though. My mother was not amused. Come to think of it, any boy who liked Kiss back then had a mother who was worried about her son getting scarred by like that band.

comparing Kiss to Rush is like comparing apples to oranges. As someone stated earlier, music is a business, especially when you sign a contract with a record company. You can be an "honest" musician without having to have a recording contract. And with business comes marketing. Neil is too often critical about how other people do things.
I for one, liked the Kiss Army thing in the 1970s.

Sounds like it was an interview. I've got one coming up but on a different podcast.

I don't think there needs to be any concept albums. I like Clockwork Angels, but really don't sense the conceptual stuff in it. Seems like very individual songs to me.
-
You have to like Countdown better. Otherwise, you're not a true fan of Rush. :D

I like both. It took a while to like Kid Gloves and now I believe it to be one of the best track on Grace Under Pressure. However, I went with Countdown because I've liked the song for as Iong as I've known it.

Moving Pictures. "The Camera Eye" is among my fave songs by Rush. Also, MP is in my top five Rush albums. I sense a stronger diversity among the songs on MP than I do on Permanent Waves. The sound on MP is warmer, for lack of a better description.
-
I prefer A Farewell to Kings.

I've often thought "Chemistry" would be a great concert opener tune.

Yeah, I love it. One of the best tunes on the album. It has a funky get down "attitude" kind of like the Permanent Waves section of Natural Science. The way Alex plays guitar or something.
I think most people who don't like the song typically blame it on the lyrics. But only Rush can do a song that talks about scientific stuff and rock out. Signals is almost a science textbook. But the song is obviously about relationships and the communication in them.

yeah, it's nice to see HYF getting the attention. In comparison of my list to others, I see a lot of people listing AFTK, but I seem to be one of a few that list Fly By Night in the top 5.

Do you dream of Geddy's nose in your ear from time to time?
No.
When was the last time you listened to Madrigal? Did it make you weep?
No.
Have you ever played the "I was in Beyond the Lighted Stage" card to impress people at a party?
Don't have to impress anybody for anything. I am what I am, mothafucka!
