If you don't like the original mix of Vapor Trails, you're not a true Rush fan. ;)

It's me but I don't mind some "grit" on rock songs.
-
Not bothering with the remix. Alex added a guitar on what I consider a great cymbal ride on Ceiling Unlimited during the instrumental section. Another added piece to "Out of the Cradle" also ruined a fave moment for me. So no, I'm keeping the original.

Everybody has their own reasons for liking covers. I personally like covers that compositionally simple. Not a big fan of "busy" covers.
-
I agree about the Kate covers, although I've never been a fan of band or artist pics on the front. Where Kate Bush is concerned, and her photo on the front, I like "Sensual World" the best.

I'm also a fan of ABBA. That was my first favorite band when I was 9 years old, several years prior to Rush.
The Pat Benatar album above is her third. Has the songs "Promises in the Dark" and "Fire and Ice" and the title track. Also prior to becoming a Rush fan, I was a big Pat Benatar and Journey fan.

Yes was among the first Progressive Rock bands though, which should count for something. I don't mind that Joan Jett was inducted. I would listen to her stuff. Couldn't care less about Green Day.

I loved and still love "True". They also appear and perform in "Do they know it's Christmas?" (1984).

Not a fan of Tango in the Night?
I get that but there is something about living the 70's that just matters. I can't even explain it. The 80's stuff just seems much more palatable to the masses no matter the age of the individual. The 70's stuff just seems much more of a different style and not all folks tastes appreciate it. Young Ged. The voice etc..
Youngsters.... :):o :o :o :o :o
Youngsters? GUP and PoW are all older than me!
But Rush are the only band of the sixties/seventies I love whose eighties work inspires me!
Fleetwood Mac doesn't count as Mirage sounds like a seventies release.
Not massively.
Mirage is one of my favourite albums. It helped me cope through a rough patch (and it is sublime night time chill music).
Oh yeah. I remember the world premiere of "Gypsy" on MTV. Definitely a popular tune in 1982. My fave song on that album is "Straight Back" - sung by Stevie Nicks. I have Tango in the Night and was disappointed by it.

The music on the album is great, although I don't think side long pieces are their forte. Leave that to Yes.Not a bad album, but Geddy is at his worst vocally. While some may not like his screeching on the early albums, I much prefer that over how he sings on Hemispheres.
Are you seriously judging Hemispheres based on Geddy's singing????? I'm sorry but hat is just beyond ludicrous.
Judging the merits of any Rush album based on Geddy's singing is nonsensical IMO, but Hemispheres especially…. ay yi yi yi yi yi yi… :banghead: :banghead:

80s album. Rupert Hine is an 80s producer.
-
I like Speed of Love. It's only one of the few tunes I like from Counterparts.

Not sure. I'm thinking Moving Pictures and Signals.

My top five Rush albums are: Hold Your Fire, Signals, Fly by Night, A Farewell to Kings, and Moving Pictures.

Hey now....be nice.I'm calling Geddy up and telling him when they do a remaster of Beyond The Lighted Stage to make sure CT's part winds up on the cutting room floor. ;)
