Are you really sure about that? I'd welcome you to put that to the test. Go ask long time hardcore fans of every band I just mentioned and see if they agree with me. Every band has a golden age and it's never that hard to pick out.

Lucky for us, 2.gif has two Golden Ages.

And we're right in the middle of the second one.

    So enjoy.

I wish I could find more to appreciate about the albums from the 90s (and I have tried) but I just cant. In my opinion, there are a few good songs here and there, but for the most part, Rush produced very little from Presto through T4E that I can appreciate. In contrast, I can very much appreciate nearly everything they produced prior to Presto and after T4E. Unlike many on this board, SnA is one of my favorite Rush albums. For me, the biggest problem with the 90s material is not the music but the lyrics. It seems so many of the songs consist of just one cheesy cliche after another, many of them are downright embarrassing to listen to.

    Well, said.

With VT and S&A, NP is back in full form.

They are the only hard rock act from the 70's-80's still producing relevant music.

RUSH survived the hiatus and became better than ever IMO.

  3. Thanks for the responses.

I agree with the notion that the 90's produced some good Rush albums with good songs.

Good = adequate. satisfactory or acceptable in quality.

    It's Rush. It's all Good.

But with One Little Victory and Far Cry -- they rediscovered that Great Rush sound IMO. Music that provokes a physical emotional reaction.

Maybe I'll pick up those CDs and give them a listen.

According to the Syracuse Post Standard:

    http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/201...e_most_exp.html

Actually, the article is about Aerosmith being paid $1million to play the fair ohmy.gif but they list the other big acts.

Take it as you will. Personally, I feel they earn every penny but I know there are plenty others who think otherwise.

Not sure the dynamics of this "paycheck" and what they get from tickemaster, etc. No clue at all how it's broken up..

    Aerosmith 1Million?

Maybe Alex should do some heroin.

Oh, well, nice guys finish last, I guess.

  5. Per the CBC interview we already know there will be one song from Test For Echo. I for one would be happy if that was the ONLY song from the 1990's.

Ironically, the album that led into the 1990's was HOLD YOUR FIRE -- a commentary on the artists struggle to continue to produce meaningful material... Perhaps NP sensed the coming decade of Rush muzak. Hold some fire, indeed:

First, the Presto bunnies. (yeah, I know Presto was Nov. 1998--close enough)

Followed by that hip-hop skeleton, dancing and rapping his way into our collective cringe...

And then came....the other two I never bought. I think one had nuts&bolts and other had a pile of rocks.

Look people, don't be hatin', but I remember Alex describing the feeling they want people to have when they hear their songs--

    2.gif

A physical emotional reaction to hard rock music. I don't get that with the songs produced 1989-1996. Interesting music, thought-provoking lyrics, no doubt. But no rush. No impulse to jump out of my seat and scream, cheer, clap to the beat and play air instruments... Maybe I need to give them an honest listen. But that skeleton just creeps me out--Douche Chills.

Anyway... I'd be happy with a concentration of songs from the golden years '75-'85 + the rebirth years, 2002-onward... Anyone else?

  6. Why is everyone asking about albums from the 90's? Every song from the 90's means 1 less song from the golden age.

Don't get me wrong, they did some interesting stuff on RTB, TFE, and the other one...

But...Stop jinxing the 70's-80's classics with suggesting these lesser songs.

  7. QUOTE (syd11 @ May 26 2010, 09:36 PM)
A prequel to 2112? The album is coming out in 2011 and the tour could
take them into 2012 possibly. The 100 years earlier could be more than a coincidence. Am I reaching here?

    That's brilliant. I love it.

Since music was what saved Alex in A Clockwork Orange and music 'saves' the protagonist in 2112.

    Well done!

  8. Knowing the set list sort of took something away from the last two shows for me.

I say sort of. I was RUSH. A band that I've been following for 30 years, but there wasn't those moments of calling out the title of a surprise tune when you hear the opening riffs.

Like when they broke in Analog Kid (I think Presto or HYF)...

    Or By-Tor on Vapor Trails...

Those surprises are the highlights of past concerts for me. R30 I sort of knew the setlist, and S&N I knew it song by song. No surprises at all.

This time, I want to go to Jones Beach cold. I might not even get the new songs. It would be cool to hear them live for the first time--the way some lucky PW audiences got to hear Tom Sawyer.

I'm looking into to having my mind wiped after the Jones Beach show, then when I see them in Irvine... Perhaps I should search craigs list...

This forum IS the spoiler forum, dude.

Like I said, I want... would prefer more of a buffer... Dude.

Why don't you just create your own website? confused13.gif

more snarky remarks from fellow fans... Nice.

It was just a suggestion for a sub-sub forum for SPOILER threads. Frankly, all the 'possible spoiler' threads were getting annoying. But what else are people supposed to talk about.

As long as everyone follows the spoiler rules, those of us who don't want to know every song before the show need not be concerned... still, seems like there's always one wisenheimer.

Spoilers are a point of contention on these boards. Experience has told us that making a separate spoiler section along with a tour section is futile. For instance, we have a clearly-marked meetup section at the top of this forum, with dedicated threads for each show, and people still post meetup threads out here. No matter what signs you put up, people will either blow through them or not notice them.

If we made a separate spoiler section, we'd still get tons of spoilers out here, and we mods would be chasing our tails trying to keep them contained. That's wasted effort, so no use trying that again. The best way to deal with spoilers is to make the whole tour section a spoiler section.

We have to hope that people won't post spoilers in threads that aren't meant for them, and hope they mark their own threads as containing spoilers if they plan on posting any. Outside of that, enter this section at your own risk.

We probably did get a little too snarky with you, but a lot of us have been here for the last couple of tours and we've seen people blindly post spoilers where they don't belong and we get frustrated. Take it with a grain of salt, we mean no harm. cool.gif

Fair enough, and I see what you're saying.

Yes, I hope people do follow the 'Spoiler' guidelines.

It did seem like there were an abundance of new threads with 'Spoiler' in the title. Perhaps that's what I was reacting to.

  10. Why are we assuming there will be 2 sets.

    What if there are 3?

    *1990's-2000's

    *1980's w/ MP

*1970's bring it home with the classics.

I don't think that's how it will go, and I hope they skip around, but to have an entire set of just 1970's classics would be awesome.

Um... did you read my post. More of a buffer. Some protection. A double-secret probation wall of secrecy...

First layer of protection don't come lurking if you don't want to know. Sounds real simple to me, but what about you?

calm down, sparky... it was just a suggestion.

I will receive paper tickets from music today but for Red Rocks the first 10 rows or so you must go to the box office to get the "real" tickets.
I think this is their way of trying to thwart scalpers.

Exactly - there are ads for VIP tix all over saying "meet night of show"...

    z7shysterical.gif

  15. I've noticed a few Prem seats listed with the note "Pickup night of show" or "Meet night of show"

    z7shysterical.gif z7shysterical.gif

I think the Will Call pickup for the Prem Vip packages was smart. People holding these seats who are trying to sell them are going to have a little bit harder time selling them under these conditions--it requires a lot of trust on the part of he buyer.

I saw these listing on TicketsNow.

At least with Stubhub the guarantee delivery or will get you similar seats. With the Stubhub I've always gotten the seats at least 3 weeks before the show *or* with sporting events some venues have a stubhub pickup window right next to Willcall.

I've noticed some VIP tickets on Stubhub don't mention that you will have to meet someone at the show to collect the tickets... confused13.gif

The thing that is pissing me off about Stubhub is people are not listing seat numbers. Orchestra Seats can be shite if they are on the far side.
