  2. Rickyrob hit the nail on the head with the British system. He basically said what I said but in a shorter way laugh.gif

Tax is mad on our fuel in this country... In fact for every litre you paid for going into your car 70% of that was tax.. and this was in 2005!

God knows what it's like now smile.gif... And fuel has gone up even more smile.gif.

  3. Haha, I know biggrin.gif. laugh.gif

I just like to prove a point over our public transport system, which absolutely sucks....

The government here will push you to use public transport, when the fees are ridiculously expensive to use it (And it's never on time).. Yet try to push you out of using your car.. Everytime they do that, the fees for public transport rise.. So the point is if you commute to work, you can't afford either, then you're stuffed.. Basically, one side pulls and the other one pushes at the same time.. Some people here are getting boxed into giving up their jobs (I know we'll be close to that soon if fuel keeps getting more expensive...)

If UK guys are getting to that point though, I know there is a site where you can organise online a car sharing pool. That would help split your fuel bill in half for a month!!

Think this is it. I've never used it, and PLEASE be careful if you do use it, as you never know who that stranger is smile.gif.

I'm not laughing at you it's just funny to see you Yanks complaining at paying half as much as we are.

I spend US $120 a week on fuel. Tha's no laughing matter.

Funny you should mention that. Time and again I've seen topics like this brought up and it becomes apparent to me that us as British citizens do not do enough bitching about this... lol.

We sort of just complain on BBC 606 and then go back to our homes and live with it lol.

  5. Would just like to say I am mildly amused at being told that we're meant to sympathise in private yet the same guy is telling us more or less in the same post to sympathise and post about the third world.

    What a hypocrit.

I'll sympathise with who I like, when I like and where I like. If you can't take it then go crawl back under your rock, little child. No one asked you to read this thread, if you disagree with it's contents then by all means disagree.. But telling people not to post sympathy? no.gif That's when you get the hell out the thread.

I could care less because it's actually important. Remember Kylie Minogue and the amount of press breast cancer received? Yeah. Whether you like it or not, people who get cancer and are in the public light is very good for diseases like this. It raises awareness and saves lives. Period.

I don't think anyone pretends to have an emotional attachment to Patrick Swayze but having watched a member of my extended family die of cancer, I think I'm well entitled to say that I feel sorry for the guy and I feel sorry for his family (Which I do). It's a horrid, horrid thing. Having money makes no odds on it. At the same time, I feel sorry for the third world as well. It's called sympathy at the end of the day.. And it appears that some of us have it in abundance (Good for you).

You can have all the money in the world, but it doesn't make you happy, nor does it take away the fact that we're just mere mortals.

Hope he makes a swifty recovery smile.gif.

Not to dampen the mood of your post, but I believe he has pancreatic cancer, which is fatal.

Yup. I'm aware of that. The tone of my original post still stands though, and I don't see how or where has the cancer would make any difference. It does raise awareness, therefore it is important. I do feel sorry for the family and for him, as I would for anyone's family if they had to go through this.

And yes I do care therefore I could care less. tongue.gif

    Wow. Muddled smile.gif.

  8. I like both, but I went with VT. It's a lot more gutsy and I think S&A even though it sounds great kinda went middle of the road a bit.. So VT got my vote in the end, minus all the production issues smile.gif.
