  1. I have two more shows lined up... The Wednesday before Thanksgiving in Ann Arbor, then the Sunday following T-giving in Milwaukee. The MKE show is the final on this tour... I follow them on line and it sounds like the shows on this last leg have all been awesome; the set lists are amazing with lots of old gold to thrill fans of every KC era. I can't wait to see these shows!

In the meantime, I saw The Stick Men in early September. That's Tony Levin, Pat Mastelotto and Marc Reuter performing originals King Crimson numbers and some Fripp solo gems. I recorded just the one from the show and took a few photos. Callahan's Music Hall is tiny and the band hung around after the show. I met both Pat and Tony, got one of the sticks from Pat and a photo with Mr. Levin. This show was a lot of fun and kept my King Crimson fluids flowing until the end of November shows...

    Rock on!

Greats pics HA .. you always deliver the best pics

The second rock concert I ever went to was KISS on the Dynasty tour ... It feels like yesterday

These are from Dynasty as well; the final gig, as a matter of fact. Toledo,OH. The very last show the original line-up performed before Pietro "resigned"... It was an all-nighter in line, December in the mid-west... COLD! Brrrrr!.... in order to be first in line for the general admission show at The Sports Arena in Toledo. We got in first and made our way to the front row rail... I was right in front of Gene for the night and had a great time! At the end of the show, Paul handed me his smashed guitar but I was mauled and it was torn from my hands... dammmmmit.... I did get a pick from Gene and the scar from the smashed guitar that slipped through my paws that cut open my hand as I held on for dear life... to no avail. The mob was stronger than my 16 year old hands could resist... One of the great early music memories for me, no doubt.... Rock ON!!!

  3. I want to see Adam Ant next week in the city so bad but can't justify spending the money .

You missed a really wonderful show... He went back to his first single release and first album, Dirk Wears White Socks, along with classics from Kings of the Wild Frontier and beyond... Title track from Kings and Car Trouble form Dirk were two highlights for me.

Did I mention that I saw Adam and The Ants in 1982 with INXS and Missing Persons? Good times!!!

    Rock ON!!

  4. Nov. 25, 1984, Madison, WI, a little place called Headliners.... I was there; this was the tour supporting their first, self-titled album.... still my favorite. "True Men Don't Kill Coyotes" was the radio hit but the entire album won me over from the first listen. Wendy O. Williams (from the Plasmatics) opened for them. I remember that the live show was so much more RAW than the record and LOVED that! Since then, Freaky Stylie and Uplift Mofo Party Plan are still in regular listening rotation... I do like Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic but don't put that one on as often as the others. Hell, I cranked that first album on the turn table just the other night... it still pumps my nads!

    Rock ON!!!

My buddy is in the VANS shirt behind Rick Nielsen and that is his wife in whom Gene seems very interested...

A great single became available today so I'm going to the Milwaukee show that wraps up this tour! I'm so pumped to see the final show of this run...

    Rock ON!!!

Just saw Stickmen at Callahan's, a small club just north of Detroit, Sept 15, Adam Ant at The SoundBoard at Motor City Casino, then Sept. 22 The Grande 50th Anniversary All-Stars at Callahan's.. Oh yeah, then there are the two King Crimson shows in November; Wednesday before Thanksgiving in Ann Arbor and then Sunday after Thanksgiving in Milwaukee... Great times!

  8. I didn't know a lot of Midnight Oil tunes aside form the radio hits. Two friends of mine are big fans and have been encouraging me to check them out. When I first heard their older stuff, I thought that they must have been influenced by Gang of Four. However, it turns out that Midnight Oil was recording way before Gang of Four existed so maybe it's the other way around.... Midnight Oil was an influence on Gang of Four? In any case, I am really getting into Midnight Oil lately and made the trip to Toronto to see them live 2 weeks ago. We were in the front row against the rail and had a really great time! The opening act, The Living End, is also now on my music radar! They tore the place up and really set the stage for the main Midnight Oil show... Here is a video of one tune that I shot. I have lots of photos but am having trouble getting them off my phone to share. If I figure it out, I'll post some of those too. Rock ON!

I regret never knowing Mr. Wagner while he was alive but I've come to know his work and to realize that the "The Maestro of Rock" is one we ALL know....even if we don't know that we know his work.

Dick started with The Frost in the late '60s (a Grande Ballroom "house" performer). He composed and played with Alice Cooper, was a credited player with Lou Reed (that amazing intro and lead on Sweet Jane on the live "Rock n Roll Animal) and a session lead who sat in on recordings for at least KISS and Aerosmith while their band-member leads were too zonked out to make it to the studio (Get Your Wings and DESTROYER!)...probably others. If you are a fan of classic rock, you HAVE heard him play and/or heard his compositions performed by big-name artists.

I met the wife of the modern-day Dick Wagner Band's guitar player and have since gotten to know Ray. I am sure that I never would have gotten to know and love Dick Wagner the guitar player and composer if I hadn't met Sue but I'm sure glad that I did. If I hadn't met her, I'd never have become a fan of this great musician and all of his spectacular work...

    So, now you know...

    Rock ON!!!
