  1. Not a big fan of drums I guess?

There's plenty of drums in Rush's catalog. Tom Sawyer doesn't do much for me compared to the rest of Moving Pictures. MP is a masterpiece. I like TS less than the rest of the MP. It's not like I skip TS when I hear it. I have to have a least favorite and favorite song on every album. I'm not the type of person who likes every song equally.

  2. some of you guys have some crazy least-favorites. come on, Tom Sawyer is a classic!

Tom Sawyer might be a classic but I like the other 6 songs on Moving Pictures a lot more. It has nothing to do with Tom Sawyer getting a lot of radio play. Limelight gets a lot of radio play too but I still like Limelight a lot more than Tom Sawyer.

  3. Need Some Love (least favorite Rush song of all-time)

    Rivendell

    I Think I'm Going Bald

    Lessons

    Closer To The Heart

    The Trees

    The Spirit Of Radio

    Tom Sawyer (easiest choice)

    Countdown

    Red Lenses (hardest choice)

    Territories

    Turn The Page

    Superconductor

    Face Up

    Stick It Out

    Carve Away The Stone

    Out Of The Cradle

    We Hold On

    Carnies

  4. I love the "Distant Satellites" cover art. I'm going to save money to buy the vinyl. I discovered Anathema (opening act) during Blackfield's Welcome To My DNA tour on May 19, 2011 at the TLA in Philadelphia. Anathema (Vincent and Danny Cavanagh) played an acoustic set, it was awesome.

Some more info on Grace For Drowning:
    http://starsdie.com/wp/?p=1480

Apparently, it will be released on September 27th, and will include a 23 minute jazz inspired epic ohmy.gif

Is the deluxe version limited? Burning Shed perhaps?

5000 deluxe edition copies worldwide (Burning Shed has sold out of their stock but may receive a few more copies in the coming weeks)

As of now, there are still three other stores that are taking deluxe edition preorders:

There will be a standalone BD made available down the road for 5.1 enthusiasts who don't want to order the deluxe edition.

PT are not doing the same venues as they did last year. they are going to different cities this time around. saw them in philly last year and that venue sucked. worst place to see a band. you were only allowed to drink in a certain section of the venue. east coast venues suck in general. have always had a great time seeing them in LA. sound is much better there. the borgata in AC is nice. be great if they played there.

I would see them in AC because they are definitely worth the 5 hour round-trip drive. I saw NIN at the HOB and it was very intimate. During PT's first leg show at Terminal 5 in NYC on 2009-09-24, I recall Steven Wilson saying that PT would come back to NYC in the spring. Can anyone confirm that? He might have only said that PT was coming back to the states in the spring. But I thought he was very happy with the NYC crowd and said he would be back in NYC.

The best part about the April 20th date is that my son, Patrick, turns 13 on the 24th. No better birthday gift than front row for PT.

    I'm numb right now. heart.gif

Great for the both of you. Just make sure you log on to the tickets page on Burning Shed when they first get released.

I'm sure those pre-sale tickets will be sold out for the Dallas shows rather quickly. It's a nice luxury to be able to walk into the gig venue before the general public.

  8. ROABP e-mail:

    "Royal Albert Hall concert update

ROABP would like to apologise for any confusion caused by the announcement of tickets for the Porcupine Tree concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

The band's management were initially informed that the concert would be announced in January and that tickets would go on sale early in 2010 (between mid January- mid February).

For reasons entirely beyond the band's control, this special concert was publicised much earlier than expected and ticket sales were subsequently scheduled to be sold from the 29th of December onwards.

This meant that ROABP and the band were forced to announce the sale of their allocation of tickets much sooner than intended. In doing so it was discovered that the 'Arena' tickets were being sold as 'Seated' when the band had asked for them to be 'Standing'.

It also meant that there was no time to work out VIP packages as originally had been planned. Consequently, the idea of a VIP package was dropped.

While we attempt to clarify the situation, we have removed the remaining tickets from sale, though the Royal Albert Hall and other ticket agencies have continued to sell their share of tickets.

If you joined the Residents of a Blank Planet service over the last few days in anticipation of a VIP package, please contact support@burningshed.com to ask for a refund.

Apologies again for the confusion - we will update you as soon as we have more information."

Yeah, I figured that one. But, I don't see any literary references.  confused13.gif

I've Googled the song titles trying to find some kind of hint, and all that comes up are the damn songs themselves. arg.

Bret Easton Ellis wrote Lunar Park. PT used the book's themes extensively throughout FOABP.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunar_Park

By the way, Bret Easton Ellis also wrote "American Psycho". A movie was later made from his novel starring Christian Bale. I'm sure 1-0-0-1-0-0-1 knew that.

  10. QUOTE (sullysue @ Dec 22 2009, 03:38 PM)
Well, I'm not winning that contest. I don't recongnize any literary references. Knowing Wilson, I'm sure they're fairly obscure references. Or, I need to diversify my reading material, too.

Without blowing your chances and giving answers away, has anyone found any? Just curious if I'm the only dimwit.

    Sullysue,

One song on the "Stupid Dream" album is named after an Italian filmmaker.

If anyone's interested there's a small interview with Steve in the Jan '10 issue of Guitar Player, Tony Iommi on cover.  Aye  trink38.gif

Thanks Steevo. I'm going to take a look.
